One-of-a-kind Art installation at the manske library Among the major improvements that have taken place at the Mankse Library over the past several months, one of the most exciting new additions will be an art installation that is expected to be revealed in April.
Mike Stilkey Book Sculpture Example
World-renowned artist Mike Stilkey will be creating a one-of-a-kind book sculpture painting. The book sculpture will be 24 feet tall and will be located on the three adjoining walls of the Library’s elevator shaft.
Mike Stilkey’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States as well as internationally, at galleries and museums such as the Bakersfield Museum of Art in Bakersfield, CA, and Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, Mesa, AZ.
Denton Drive Live Kicks off in april The award-winning concert series Denton Drive Live! kicks off its third season at The Grove at Mustang Station! on Saturday, April 9. Join us on a trip to paradise with Jimmy Buffett tribute band, Lost Shaker of Salt and tribute to Kenny Chesney, Barefoot Nation Band. The Denton Drive Live! outdoor concert series features the hottest live music in DFW. Each concert is free and includes free kids activities such as face painting and balloon artists, and food, beer and wine for purchase. Denton Drive Live! concerts run April through September at The Grove at Mustang Station from 6-10 p.m. The full series lineup along with event information can be found at dentondrivelive.com.

The Farmers Branch Sister City Committee is planning a 30th Anniversary trip to Garbsen, Germany June 17-27, 2022 and you are invited!

An easy to use calendar tool is now available online to assist residents with knowing their scheduled pick up days.
The Farmers Branch Sister City program began in 1980 with an official twinning with Bassetlaw, England and then in 1990 with Garbsen, Germany. Over the years, these Sister City relationships have consisted of alternating visits every five years, communication between dignitaries, business relationships, student exchanges and a lot of wonderful personal friendships. The upcoming 30th anniversary trip was originally scheduled for 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic. However, our Garbsen friends have rescheduled the trip for this upcoming June. Those that make the trip can expect to stay with a host family, see the sights, attend the Interschutz Fair in Hannover, stay a few days in Shonebeck, Germany and so much more.

All you have to do is go to the above mentioned website and enter your home address to see a calendar view of the pick up days for your address. Residents can also sign up for text alerts so you’ll never miss a pick up day and will be notified of any service disruptions.

Residents joining the delegation to Germany will need to pay for their own expenses, have a valid passport and follow all CDC and EU guidelines for leaving and entering the U.S. and Germany. The deadline to sign up for this trip is March, 25. Interested residents should email rachael.johnson@farmersbranchtx.gov. Gather up the kiddos, 16 and under, and come out to Gussie Field Watterworth Park, next to City Hall, for a morning of fishing, kid’s activities and fun. Rawhide Creek will be stocked full of fish. Be sure to bring your fishing rod or borrow one of ours. Free bait will be provided, and concessions will be available. Trophies will be awarded to the three largest fish caught in each age category. Grab your swimsuit and get ready for a “splashing” good time during this unique egg hunt at the Farmers Branch Aquatics Center. Colored eggs will float and sink to the bottom of the pool.
