GROWING OUR DIGITAL PRESENCE

Kiverco has enjoyed a very busy first half of 2021 thanks to our people. Our people are the backbone of Kiverco. It has been fantastic to see some of our existing team blossom and grow into new areas of the business as well as adding new team members to a range of departments including Production – Welding, Fitting and Painting, Aftersales, Engineering, Technical Sales, Sales, Export Development, Costing Analysis and New Product Development. A very warm welcome to Kiverco to our new colleagues who have joined this year. We want you to have fun being part of a team that wants to transform the world’s waste. This year we introduce an initiative to recognise employee excellence. We call it “Kiverco Kudos”. We encourage our people to nominate a colleague who they feel has been innovative or went that bit further or has supported someone at work. We have had a fantastic response so far with Ciara McCann and Seamus McCloskey receiving recognition for being great colleagues as well as receiving a small gift from Kiverco. Congratulations to you both and thank you for being you!
OUR EXPORT MARKET IS GROWING
As a team we don’t believe in standing still. A key strategic focus for Kiverco is to develop new and exciting solutions for our customers. We have established a dedicated, fully resourced, New Product Development Department which will allow us to fast track our fresh new ideas to market. The Ks 615 modular plant is a direct consequence of this plan. This equipment is so innovative that we have applied to patent the idea. We have already built and sold and installed in a day a Ks 615 machine in the first quarter of 2021.
Earlier this year Averda and the Red Sea Development Company officially opened their new waste management facility in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Averda was chosen as the project manager to deliver The Red Sea Development Company’s goals of ‘Zero waste to landfill’ Kiverco was delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with the Averda team to design, build and install a waste plant to encompass their vision, ambition, and sustainability goals.
We care how Kiverco is presented to the world and we have been working on something that will tell our story. We can’t wait to show you the results of our brand refresh in the coming weeks and months.
Senior officials from the Red Sea Development Company cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of phase one of their ambitious mega project. In this phase of the project, the Kiverco plant will be used to recycle C&D waste produced from the construction of 16 new luxury hotels across five islands and two inland resorts, providing more than 3,000 hotel rooms. The project will also include a new international airport, yacht marina, leisure and lifestyle facilities, logistics, and new infrastructure projects.
As we recover from an extremely challenging set of circumstances that has affected the whole world for the last year, I want to acknowledge the resilience and can-do attitude of the people that I work with every day at Kiverco. The entire team has dealt with every challenge with a positive mindset which has allowed Kiverco to maintain its position at the forefront in the provision of recycling solutions worldwide.

The award-winning Hampshire-based Collard Group Ltd has procured 3 new Kiverco recycling plants for their depots in Nursling (Hampshire), Chilton (Oxfordshire), and Ewshot (Surrey). The new systems will process Construction, Demolition, Commercial, Industrial, and Household waste as part of a multi-million-pound investment that highlights the Company’s sustainability credentials. The group’s latest investment

In total, the three new plants will process more than 150,000 tonnes per annum of incoming waste across all 3 sites. KIVERCO PARTNER WITH THE MICK GEORGE GROUP TO DELIVER A UK FIRST
KIVERCO PLANT HIRE, UK
The Mick George Group has recently taken delivery of the first Rentec triple shaft shredder to be sold in the UK. The Trirex 26005 is a stationary, slow-speed triple-rotor shredder with a hydraulic drive, that will be used at the St Ives site to shred Construction & Demolition (C&D). The shredded waste will then be fed to the existing Kiverco plant, where it will go through a series of processes to separate the waste into a variety of recyclable products. This latest investment by the Mick George Group highlights once more the company’s commitment to diverting 100% of incoming waste from landfill.
“
Managing Director of the Mick George Group explains the reason why he chose to purchase from Kiverco: “We receive a huge amount of C&D waste across the region, so it was essential that we found a solution capable of handling and processing high volumes. Having worked with Kiverco for many years, we’re aware that they have a lot of knowledge and experience in waste processing and understand our requirements very well. We went through the various options available to us and quickly agreed that the Rentec triple shaft was the only shredder capable of meeting our needs. Having now seen the shredder in action, I am really pleased with the investment made as it is doing exactly what Kiverco had said it would and processing as much waste as we can throw at it.
“We can tailor this equipment to suit your needs”.
CRJ Services and Cotswold Recycling are plant hire companies based in the UK that stock various Kiverco modular equipment for the rental market. Rental modular machines are popular for companies who are keen to try waste separation machinery for a specific project or to minimise costs on-site. They are also popular for companies who wish to try before they invest.
“
Why hire modular equipment? Versatile solution - Our systems can be reconfigured to suit changing materials or site conditions. Ultimate convenience - Our hydraulic jack leg support system ensures rapid installation with basic tools. With the added advantage of mobility, this should also be of interest to mobile contractors or anyone working at a site on a temporary licence. Advanced Recycling - Produce a cleaner product with an integrated air separation option. Recover ferrous materials with an integrated magnetic separation option. Transform your productivity with sorting cabins. Finally, enhance your efficiency with an adjustable belt speed.
LONDON WASTE FIRM WILL EXCEL WITH HELP FROM KIVERCO Excel Waste Management is a thriving waste management company based in Rainham, Essex. Their recycling centre in the heart of East London has witnessed phenomenal growth in recent years, putting pressure on capacity at the site and the existing processing plant. As a result, Nathan Roberts, owner of Excel Waste, decided to acquire a new purpose-built waste transfer site nearby where the new Kiverco plant will be installed and commissioned.
Reduce carbon footprint - by bringing a waste separation machine to the site you can reduce your carbon footprint and save on natural resources by separating and reusing clean material.
“
Reducing landfill - maximize the value of recoverable products whilst reducing the amount of material going to landfill.
Kiverco is highly-respected in our industry for the quality, reliability, and performance of their waste plants, and I knew that they would be on my shortlist. Following a lengthy process to decide who to partner with, Kiverco excelled in all areas especially plant design, cost, and overall approach. JP Devlin and the Kiverco team were brilliant to work with and came up with a solution that I know will future proof our business with this state-of-the-art plant. Our primary objectives were to ensure that we increased our throughput rates, leave some extra capacity for further growth, guarantee the quality of the recyclable products, and divert up to 98% of the incoming waste from landfill. I am really confident that we will achieve this by working collaboratively with Kiverco. Nathan Roberts, Owner

OUR PEOPLE
“ We’ve launched an exciting new employee recognition scheme, set up to acknowledge those employees who have went above and beyond their responsibilities to offer support to a colleague, improve processes or offer new ideas to improve the business. This scheme is part of our employee engagement initiative, which we hope will motivate and reward employees to fulfil their full potential at Kiverco. The first Kiverco Kudos awards took place at the end of June, and the two stand-out winners were Ciara McCann, Project Costing Analyst, and Seamus McCloskey, Factory Caretaker.
TREATING OUR EMPLOYEES
As restrictions eased and employees began to return to work in the office, management felt that it was important to hold an event that would allow employees to meet each other in an open-air environment to help with office integration and new working dynamics. All staff were treated to Pizza and Ice Cream to celebrate a bumper year. The sun came out on-demand and everyone enjoyed a much-needed catch-up and many met their new colleagues for the first time in person. Owners Aidan and Anne McKiver also celebrated their birthdays with employees.

Mental health has the power to make a big difference! With Covid 19 restrictions affecting so many people’s mental health, it was important to offer our staff well-being support. Our employees were encouraged to take time to have a conversation with their friends, family, and colleagues about mental health. Staff were reminded of services in place to support their mental health and that a small conversation has the power to make a big difference. 9

OUR COMMUNITY We raised nearly £700 for Sperrinview Special School in Dungannon. The company decided to support Random Act of Kindness Week and hold a ‘Treat day’, providing employees with buns and cakes in return for a small donation towards the school. Kiverco recognised that in the aftermath of the pandemic many schools will struggle with reduced budgets and our staff wanted to contribute in a small way to make a difference to the educational needs of local children.”

“ We are overwhelmed by the generous random act of kindness. The money will go a long way to buying sensory toys for our students. The pandemic has meant that resources cannot be shared in the same way, as our classes are in different bubbles to prevent cross-contamination. This means that supplies have had to be divided up between bubbles, so our resources for each group of children are limited due to budgetary restraints. This generous donation will mean the world to our students who will now be provided with nice new sensory learning toys.” Miss Jordan, principal

We have added seven new fully qualified Engineers and a student to our team as demand grows for Kiverco plant designs. The investment is vital for further growth within the worldwide market. The new team includes three new graduates Jack, Connor, and Jimmy who will inject new ideas, knowledge, and skills into the department. Stuart, David, and Geddis also join us as Senior Design Engineers to add experience to the team and keep up with demand from our key clients. Jarleth also joins the Technical Sales Team to help produce specifications for new customers. The sales team has been strengthened, with the recruitment of Barry as Sales Manager and Andrew Lyttle as a Sales Executive. They will be responsible for business development and will help grow our presence. Andrew will work closely with both the Sales and Marketing teams to help identify opportunities within the market and build strategic partnerships to increase revenue and ensure long-term growth and expansion. Andrew Maneely will assist with the pricing of new projects and help keep proposals to new clients flowing to assist in securing new work. We have also added to our production team, especially our welding team as business continues to increase. 10

To assist with furnishing and resourcing the facilities with the equipment needed to support clients, the charity commenced a large fundraising effort with a target of £15k. The new mental health hub will house a new office, disability toilets, a staff kitchen, one large training room, 2 waiting areas, 3 counselling rooms, and full disabled access with a lift, to ensure facilities are accessible to all within the community. As a result of the dire state of mental health within Northern Ireland, facilities such as MACP are essential to healing poor mental health within society.
“
Anne McKiver, owner of Kiverco explained why she decided to support MACP, “This is an extraordinary charity that offers free support to anyone struggling with mental health in our community. As part of our health and well-being programme within Kiverco, we have partnered with MACP to offer mental health support to our employees and their families. The charity has already saved the lives of many people in our community and Kiverco were delighted to lend a hand with financial support to ensure that they can continue to support many more families in the future. 2020 and the Coronavirus pandemic has had an effect on so many families in Northern Ireland and mental health support is more important than ever. Kiverco’s donation is only one of many within the local area, but we are delighted to play our part in this community initiative.”

WE’RE EXHIBITING AT LETS RECYCLE 2021 IN UK Here at Kiverco, we are eagerly making preparations to exhibit at Let’s Recycle Live 2021 exhibition at the NAEC on the 15th-16th September. The Kiverco stand will be located at stand D1. Let’s Recycle Live is the UK’s leading live show for the recycling, sustainability, and now, demolition industries. This year, the event is co-located with the Demolition Expo and consists of six sector-specific zones stretching across indoor and outdoor areas. The event itself will consist of both indoor and outdoor areas, which features six sector-specific zones, 100+ speakers across five conference theatres, 200+ exhibitors, and a range of free to attend networking events including Meet the Material Buyer, Women in Waste, apprenticeship programmes, training sessions, bursary support, AGMs, private meetings and, of course, the infamous ‘Inn on the Green’.
SHARP NEW UPGRADE FOR LONDON KIVERCO PLANT
For more information about the event, visit: www.letsrecycle.live Sharp Skips, located in the heart of Essex and East London, already operate a successful state-of-the-art Kiverco waste recycling plant with the capacity to deal with most waste materials. The Company processes large volumes of waste, which allows them to help protect the local environment, by segregating, re-using and recycling 100% of materials that would have otherwise been sent to landfill.
HILLHEAD DIGITAL 2021
Due to their continued growth, Sharp Skips returned to Kiverco to add new elements to their existing plant. This investment will upgrade the plant in line with advances in technology to ensure that it remains efficient and is capable of dealing with increasing waste volumes coming into the site.
We were delighted to exhibit at the very first Hillhead Digital Event, held in March 2021. Everyone has certainly missed face-to-face interaction at our usual shows, so it was great to get the opportunity to participate in this digital event and enjoy increased interaction with customers.
“
Commenting on the investment, Terry Sharp stated: “We were delighted with the original plant delivered by Kiverco and another upgrade which we carried out a few years back. We knew that they would help us meet our objectives with this latest investment. As our company grows, we want to invest in our plant to ensure that we have the very best waste processing capability to ensure high levels of throughput and purity. We decided to add to the functionality of our current plant with a new 2-way separator which will increase throughput, reduce operational costs and produce cleaner products. We are delighted to work with Kiverco again as their customer service is second to none, and we know we can always rely on their professional know-how to produce the best outcome for our business. Working with Kiverco gives us peace of mind that our money is being well invested in future-proofing our business for many years to come.”

The event was a multi-stream online conference featuring over 60 freeto-attend seminars and panel sessions. As a result of the implications of the coronavirus pandemic, digital adoption, at both organisational and industry levels has been accelerated. A new virtual world of communication, collaboration, and engagement has grown, and we are now faced with a new normal for the world of business interaction. Surrounding the virtual event, we launched the new ‘Ks series’, a simple yet highly effective range of waste recovery plants that come in modules capable of handling up to 14 recovered products from various mixed waste streams. This was a great opportunity to launch the new ‘Ks series’, which was featured on the platform under the new products section of the website and in various publications linked to the exhibition. The Hillhead Digital booth remained live for several weeks to allow people to contact us and ask us questions about our products. Thank you to everyone who visited our virtual booth and took the time to chat with our sales team, Julian, Andre, and JP. A special thanks to our Kiverco team, who were as ever the professionals and represented the company so well.

SALES TEAM GET BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN With COVID-19 restrictions relaxing and vaccines being rolled out, the Kiverco UK sales team are delighted to be officially back on the road and actively putting in the miles to visit our customers. During the lockdowns, the sales team were thrown into the virtual world of Microsoft Teams and Zoom to keep in touch, but nothing beats a face-to-face (or mask-to mask) interaction. Con Gallagher, Global Sales Manager at Kiverco, explains “the feedback I am getting from the team is all positive. The guys were excited to get back out on the road, when it was safe to do so, and the export team have now adopted a new way of doing business until they too can resume travel. The digital world has made the world a much smaller place and we are very grateful that technology allows us to still meet our customers in digital meetings or take part in digital conferences.’
