“The Big Three” are the three largest web portals, hosting real estate listing information from companies across the country. Realtor.com is the official site of the National Association of Realtors; Trulia and Zillow are owned by the same company but currently operate as separate websites.

The Drawbacks & What You Need to Know: Zestimates & Data Accuracy

› Zestimate: A Zestimate is a computer generated estimate of the value of your home. We find that Zestimates are almost always inaccurate because they rely on incomplete data and cannot take factors such as condition, upgrades, and other unique features into consideration. THIS IS OUR HOMEMADE version of gelati—layered Italian ice and ice cream. Depending on the sweetness of your watermelon, you may not even need a quarter cup of sugar. Add a bit at a time until it tastes just sweet enough to be dessert.

SUMMER HAS ARRIVED and along with it, hurricane season. Experts are predicting this season to be as active if not more so than last year. While we all hope these experts are off the mark, it is better to be prepared. There is a popular quote by Alan Lakein that reads “failing to plan is planning to fail.” This rings true with making preparations for hurricane season. By just initiating a plan now, it will help you not only be better prepared if a storm begins to head your way but will also help to give you and your family some peace of mind.

1⁄2 cup heavy cream 1⁄3 cup (loosely packed) chopped fresh basil 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice 1⁄4 to 1⁄3 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar 1⁄3 cup mascarpone cheese

1. Combine cream and basil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring cream just to a bare simmer, then immediately remove pan from heat.

Pour mixture into a heatproof bowl.

Set aside to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate 3 hours.

2. Purée watermelon and lime juice in a blender. Add sugar to taste, then blend again.

3. Pour mixture into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch metal baking pan. Freeze 1 hour, then scrape sides and edges, mixing ice crystals into center. Return to freezer 1 hour, then repeat scraping process. Freeze 2 hours, or until

firm. Scrape mixture with a fork to form fluffy flakes. Cover and freeze until ready to serve.

4. Pour basil cream through a finemesh sieve; discard basil. Combine cream, mascarpone, and remaining 2 tablespoons sugar in a large bowl, stirring until mixture is smooth.

Whip mixture until soft peaks form.

5. Spoon granita into serving dishes and top with a bit of basilmascarpone cream. Add a second layer of granita and top with another dollop of cream. Serve immediately.
