lthough dance requires the same level of training and commitment to achieve excellence as in any other sport, it differs from other kinds of rhythmic movement, such as dribbling a basketball, because in dance, the movement itself is the goal of the activity. Music usually accompanies dance, providing the rhythm, tempo, and mood for the movements. Both the beginner and seasoned athlete (regardless of the sport) should look upon dance as another legitimate method to improve upon flexibility, coordination, balance, endurance and conditioning. Dance styles vary greatly, but they all have their foundation in ballet:
BALLET is the oldest and most highly developed form of dance, growing out of European court dances of the 1400’s and 1500’s. Ballet dances were later replaced by ballroom dancing as a form of social dance. In addition to performing ballets themselves, by the 1600’s court aristocracy employed professional dancers to perform the ballets as staged entertainment. Academies were established to train these professional performers and
encourage the development of their art. By the late 1800’s, ballet had reached a high level of refinement. Ballet companies had become expensive organizations that produced great

She called her style of movement “the dance of the future,” but it became best known as modern dance. Duncan’s supporters applauded her work as remarkably fresh and spontaneous. Several American women continued Duncan’s innovations. These dancerteacher-choreographers included Ruth St. Denis, Doris Humphrey, and Martha Graham. Martha Graham became the central figure in modern dance in the mid-1900’s. Through her artistry, passion and intensity, Graham brought modern dance to the level of great art. She developed a method of movement, inspired by the act of breathing, which was based on the contraction and release of muscles. The method was designed to capture the rhythm of human emotion. Graham’s method became the standard modern dance technique adopted throughout the world. African Americans made important contributions to modern dance. Alvin Ailey was a major figure. In creating his American Dance
MilPro Publications Theater, Ailey sought to make modern dance into a vehicle for expressing the black experience through music and movement. His company gained praise for its exuberance and energy. Many younger choreographers of the late 1900’s turned away from modern dance as an art that consisted purely of movement. Their work mixed and often emphasized video, spoken language and other nondance elements.

JAZZ
dance, like jazz music, relies strongly on rhythm. It is usually energetic, with dancers using different parts of the body, such as the shoulders, pelvis, and head, in isolated movement. Jazz dancing is a personal style that emphasizes individual expression and often includes humor and improvisation. Strangely, jazz is usually done to the latest top 40 dance music and not jazz. Jazz requires a very flexible body, “isolated” joints that can be moved independently, and an ability on the dancer’s part to perform exaggerated movement stylishly. Good jazz dancers take at least 2 years to get their bodies into shape.
TAP
dancing combines dance traditions from Britain and Africa. It resembles jazz dancing in its strong rhythms and frequent displays of improvisation. Tap dancing relies almost totally on footwork, however. The feet become musical instruments, marking out complex rhythms with the heel and toe. Tap dancing underwent a revival during the 1990’s, largely due to the work of such young dancers and choreographers as Gregory Hines and Savion Glover.

When not dancing, Brandi enjoys going to the beach, spending time with family, drawing and choreographing dances to all kinds of music. Her favorite sports team is the Florida Gators and Iggy Azalea is her top rated performer. When asked the question, “What is the biggest problem in society today?” Brandi’s response was, “Pre conceived notions based off a person’s ethnic heritage.” Brandi’s future plans include attending her dad’s alma mater, UCF.
MilPro Publications In the book, “Black Dance In America,” the first name mentioned is “Uncle” Jim Lowe, a black man that did jigs and reels in saloons and who was listed as an influence on the first great rhythm dancer, William Henry Lane, also known as “Juba.” Lane was born in 1825 and was well known by the 1840s. His dancing included African steps, like the shuffle and slide, added to the jig steps. He was the first to add syncopation and improvisation to his dancing.

is a primarily American form of theatrical entertainment that typically tells a story through songs and dialogue as well as dance. Musicals generally feature athletic, rhythmic dancing, but some also include dance pieces that resemble classical ballet.
Important ballet choreographers who have created dances for musicals include George Balanchine, Agnes de Mille, and Jerome Robbins. Some of the greatest American musicals are known primarily for their dances, such as Robbins’s West Side Story (1957); A Chorus Line (1975), with choreography by Michael Bennett; Chicago (1975), with choreography by Bob Fosse; My One and Only (1983), with choreography by Tommy Tune and Crazy for You (1992), with choreography by Susan Stroman.
HIP HOP dancing was born in New York City in late 1984 as break dancing reached its apex, with the release of the movies Breakin’, Breakin’ 2, Electric Boogaloo and Beatstreet, as well as several commercials and videos. It is the
Page 7 style of dance popularized by the choreographer Paula Abdul and the MTV generation and combines elements of tap, jazz and modern dance. On mission, Andrea has traveled with the ABC team to Costa Rica and Ecuador several times to bring the gospel, using the medium of dance and theater. Dedicated to reclaiming the arts for the Lord, she has helped establish dance and drama ministries in local churches and abroad. Mission Statement and History: In 1995, as a response to God’s call, Sanders established ABC as a non-profit Christian arts organization committed to the faithful witness, integrity, and artistic excellence of what is Affirmation Ballet through Christ Jesus. In the summer of 2012, in faith, ABC moved to a space in downtown St. Petersburg to be closer and accessible to the inner-city. As a result, 25% of the student enrollment is now low income and inner-city families. While many former students have gone on to study theatre at the college level and to pursue professional acting careers, others have pursued a career outside the arts while continuing to incorporate theatre into their everyday lives. MilPro Publications Programs for Youth: American Stage offers classes and camps throughout the year for students ages 5-18. Focus is placed on using theatre to build confidence, maximize creative expression, improve literacy and communication skills, and to foster a team environment. Each program culminates in a showcase for family and friends. Classes for youth are offered in the fall and winter. They also offer a very popular summer camp program Programs for Adults: American Stage offers acting and improvisation classes for adults throughout the year. Classes are open to anyone interested in exploring these performance forms. Many adults enroll in the classes in order to improve their public speaking skills, increase their confidence, and to foster their ability to think creatively. In addition to classes, American Stage offers special educational events that enhance the audience’s experience of the plays on the main stage. These events include lectures (LEARN), post-show discussions with the actors (ENGAGE), and community forum events (CONNECT) that tie relevant themes in the plays to St. Petersburg. In the Community: American Stage believes in giving back to the community by partnering with local schools and community organizations. Through the Write On! program, American Stage brings play writing and drama residencies to local schools and service organizations free of charge. The goal of the program is to expose students to theatre who may not have access to this type of experience otherwise. The residencies work to improve literacy, build confidence, maximize communication skills, and cultivate the ability to empathize in students from underserved areas of Tampa Bay. Currently, American Stage has residencies in 10 schools and service organizations throughout Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. In addition to the Write On! program, the annual School Tour is seen by 18,000 students in Pinellas and Hillsborough County. For many students, the School Tour is their first live theatre experience and it opens up a new world of possibilities for

Artistic Director/Owner: Beth Brier was classically trained at the Pennsylvania Ballet School under the direction of Barbara Weisberger (founder of the Pennsylvania Ballet Company) and with Luigi and Lynn Simonson of New York City. With many years of musical theater and choreography experience, Beth created one of the first dance schools in the country to fuse theater, dance & circus arts. DCA was awarded a grant from the Pinellas County Arts Council in 2008 to research and build the circus arts program and is happily celebrating its 15th year in serving the Tampa Bay area. DCA has a professional, certified safety consultant who oversees all of the rigging and safety issues. All instructors attend training seminars throughout the year to keep their skills sharp and refreshed. Overview: DCA has been featured in three national dance magazines over the past year, “Dance,” “Dance Teacher” and “Studio Life,” highlighting their unique hybrid training in dance and circus arts. Their training program has also been offered at Blake High School in Tampa and Davenport School of the Arts in Polk County. Dance Master certifications and workshops are attended on a regular basis, allowing the staff to stay on the cutting edge of dance. Children not only learn how to dance, they learn dance vocabulary, anatomy, improvisational skills, audition techniques, expressiveness, spatial awareness, theater and class etiquette. They become well-rounded and happy individuals. Programs: Classes are offered for ages 2 through adult. DC Stars is the program for our youngest dancers. Classes include Wiggles & Giggles (ages 2 1/2 -3), Shining Stars (ages 3-5) and Super Stars (ages 6-7). The goal of the DC Stars Dance Program is to introduce our young dancers to the art of dance and to the art of fun in expressing yourself. They twirl and laugh while they gallop and grow, all the while guided by one of our caring instructors. DC Academy Dance Program: Recreational classes that include Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Acro and more. Academy dancers range in age from 7-adults and are beginners through advanced. Dancers in the Academy Program train to participate in our annual Spring Showcase at the end of May. Students take as many or as few classes as they like. This program benefits all who are interested in dance and want to participate without the large commitment of either performing or competition teams. It’s never too late to start dancing! The most important thing is that you are trying, making new friends and having fun along the way! DC Performing Teams: A training company created to provide beginner and intermediate dancers stage time as they train to move to

This is the place for dancers to learn discipline, time management skills, teamwork and how to give back to their community. Owner: Diana Reichardt began dancing at the age of 3 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Florida School of the Arts on a full scholarship in 1993 with a degree in Dance. She danced professionally for 4 years with Southern Ballet Theater in Orlando (Orlando City Ballet). After a back injury, Reichardt stopped dancing professionally and started to teach. She has competed as a professional ballroom dancer and was ranked in the top 5 in the southeast region by American Rhythm Rising Star-Professional Ballroom (a competition category) and is still being asked to do shows today. She also had a small role in the movie, The Punisher, starring John Travolta. She opened her school in 2005. Miss Diana takes annual trips to New York City and San Francisco to further her training. Miss Diana has also judged Nationals in Branson, MO for Starpower Competitions and choreographed Into the Woods for Palm Harbor University HS and for community theatre here, in Tarpon Springs.

Facility: The 4,300 sf state-of-the-art facility features 3 dance rooms featuring a sprung-floor system designed to absorb shock, which reduces fatigue and the possibility of injury. Each studio has a viewing window as well as a closed-circuit television system for parents to monitor their students while relaxing in the large waiting areas. Cable TV, water fountains, a drink/snack machine, and a Wi-Fi Cafe are also available while waiting. Lockers are available for students who attend classes three or more days per week and are on a first come first served basis (team dancers have first option for lockers). Expressions is the parent company to Cafe Plie, a dancewear boutique and cafe (located in the same building, right next door). The 1,300 sf boutique carries all the best lines of dancewear and everything a dancer needs, at reasonable prices. Dancers and parents often wait in the cafe, using the Wi-Fi, getting a bite to eat or cup of coffee. Many of the dancers use the cafe to do homework between classes. Erwin Narzinsky manages the store. Kennedy Joynes and Taber Foster are student-dancers who work in the store. For pointe shoe fittings, please call for an appointment. When asked the question, “What is the biggest problem in society today?” Mackenzie’s response was, “Apathy in society.” Mackenzie’s future plans include performing on Broadway.

Expressions believes that professional training should be a personal and positive experience for all dancers, parents and staff. The instructional foundation is built on respect, integrity to the art, experience, skill and above all, an enthusiastic and positive reinforcement policy. The goal is for each dancer to achieve a sense of accomplishment, confidence and joy through a structured class. Emphasis is placed on proper body alignment and technique, as well as the use of correct dance terminology. The staff is especially grateful and always aware of the trust parents have placed in them when working with their children. They see their students learning and conquering skills that seemed nearly impossible at the beginning of the year, memorizing long sequences of choreography, learning to take constructive critique, understanding the importance of teamwork and dancer camaraderie. The academy enjoys seeing their growth, not just technically, but also as they mature and has been fortunate to see many of their dancers grow-up in the studio, becoming role models for the newer and younger students. Staff: Lara Narzinsky, Studio Director, began dancing as a young girl, right here in Pinellas County. Growing up, she enjoyed being in dance productions and school musicals. Lara has been teaching dance and choreographing for many years. She has produced many large productions and community events. Lara teaches all disciplines offered at the studio, and in recent years has been recognized with “Top Teacher” Awards at dance competitions. Lara also works for Pinellas County Schools as coach and choreographer for Seminole High School’s award-winning dance team. Tonya Narzinsky, Assistant Director, has been teaching and choreographing since 2008. This is her 6th year as an instructor and choreographer. Tonya is currently a junior at the University of
Page 29 South Florida, working on her BA. Tonya was at UCF for her freshman year, where she was on the “KnightMoves” Dance Team and danced in the UCF Spring Showcase. Other dance training while in college includes aerial silks, advanced classical ballet, African diaspora, modern and advanced pointe. In 2013, Tonya earned a Superior Rating (Blue Ribbon) at UDA in Alabama. She has performed for an audience 300+ times over the past several years on the stage in college productions, college football & basketball games, in musical theater productions, community events, fund-raisers, competitions, studio productions, and even on MTV. Tonya has enjoyed dancing with top dancers and choreographers from around the country. In addition to her 17 years experience in dance, Tonya was a USAG state champion gymnast, followed by 2 years of competitive cheerleading. Tonya has also worked as a professional model, working for Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure, HSN and Harcourt Publishing. Miss Tonya teaches ballet, pointe, Sr. Competitive Jazz & Lyrical, Sr. and Jr. Hip Hop, Jr. Lyrical, Sr. Competitive Acrobatics, Aerial Silk Technique, and Leaps & Turns. When asked what her favorite dance style is, she will definitely tell you classical ballet. Lourdes Santos Garcia is a Cuban professional ballet dancer and Ballet Maitre. She began her studies at the Arts School of Holguin, sponsored by Cuban National Ballet. At age 9, for her interpretation of Colombina in “Toy Shop,” she received the first of many dance awards. At 16, she won the Cuban National Ballet Competition for her performance of “La Bella Cubana” (Cuban Beauty). Lourdes has more than 30 years of professional experience, both as a ballet dancer and as an instructor. She represented the Holguin Ballet Theater Company as a soloist in 3 international dance festivals, acquiring a vast repertoire of choreographies. She had the opportunity to work with many recognized icons such as Alicia Alonso, Fernando Alonso, Jorge Vega, Alberto Mendez, Hugo Bufanty

Kara’s favorite movie is John Tucker Must Die and The Vampire Diaries is her top rated TV show. The Tampa Bay Rays is her favorite sports team and tacos are her number one ranked food. When not dancing, Kara enjoys painting, writing, traveling and listening to music. When asked the question, “What is the biggest problem in society today?” Kara’s response was, “Negative judgement of others.” Kara’s future plans include moving to NYC and becoming a choreographer.

Lourdes was promoted to Director for “Center for the Arts.” It was there that she developed different ballet programs and directed several dance shows. She earned a BA from the National Institute of Arts of Cuba before starting her own ballet school where she trained many pre-professional dancers. Lourdes came to the Tampa Bay area in 2012. We are proud to have her on our staff as a ballet Instructor and choreographer. Tiffany Hope Breuer has been dancing locally for many years and is experienced in all aspects of stage production. She began teaching at Expressions a year ago, after returning from teaching in Japan. In addition to teaching tap, jazz, and hip hop, Miss Tiffany also enjoys performing in community theater musical productions. Emily Sewell has been a part of Expressions Academy of Dance since she was a young girl. She has many years of performance experience, as well as competitive dance training. Now a college student, we are pleased to have her on staff again this year as an instructor. Miss Emily is the instructor for the studio’s performance level jazz team and the ages 14-18 jazz class. Student Teachers: The studio rewards members of its Competitive Dance Company by giving them their first job while in high school. These student-teachers are not only receiving top awards at dance competitions, but also maintain academic excellence in high school. Student-teachers work as a team, co-teaching classes together. It is very rewarding to both the student-teacher and the youth with which they work. They take a personal interest in the little ones, learning how to bring out the best in them, teaching and preparing them for the Spring Showcase. Student-teachers are instructors for the youngest age groups and sometimes assist with the mini/junior competition teams.

Competitive Dance Teams: Company dancers are accepted by audition in June. Expressions’ award-winning company dancers compete in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, pointe, hip hop, tap, and acrobatic dance. The Competitive Company dancers perform at community events, as well as 3 regional competitions in the spring and a national competition in the summer. These skilled dancers have won many double-platinum awards over the years. Company dancers also perform their competition routines in the Spring Showcase. Summer Dance Camps and Intensives: Expressions will begin enrolling for its summer dance camps online in January. Summer Dance Camp is great for working parents and dancers who want to learn new skills while having fun and making new friends. Summer Camps are for ages 5-14 and available Monday - Friday, 8:45am - 4pm with a cost of just $75/ week. Camp is available on a first come, first served basis so be sure to register in January to get a spot. For competitive level dancers who are in high school, there is a Summer Intensive Program, (open to the public), which is required for all Expressions Company Dancers. Performance: The 2015 Spring Showcase “Fancy Footwork” is on Sunday, May 24th at the Palladium Theater in which all students will perform. Tickets will be available through the box office in February. This event is open to the public. Parties: Expressions Academy of Dance can also make your birthday party extra fun! Mission: Institute of Dance Arts (IDA) is an award winning dance studio located in Largo. Established 4 years ago to create a training facility for young dancers, technique, athleticism and creativity are emphasized in a positive, encouraging environment. The studio’s mission is to instill a passion for the art of dance. Providing quality instruction for the beginner to the advanced dancer, IDA places emphasis on technique and terminology, along with a strong foundation in classical ballet. A professional and enthusiastic staff of highly certified instructors seek to inspire and enhance dancers to take their dance career to the next level. Owner/Director, Andrea Stout has been a studio owner for 11 years, opening her first studio in 2003, an instructor for 17 years and a dancer for over 25 years. She started her training locally under the tutelage of Penny Janowski and has had the opportunity of performing with both the Miami City and Sarasota Ballet Companies. In 2005, Andrea choreographed and performed in a television performance on “The Daily Buzz” for Sri Lankan recording artist DeLon. She has also had the pleasure of working with multi-Tony and Emmy award winner, Dale Badway, choreographing and performing in several shows/events he has directed. Over the years, Andrea has received numerous “Creative Concept” and teacher awards for routines, student technique and choreography. She was presented with five “Top Teacher” awards in the 2014 season alone. Staff: The faculty includes Dance Masters of America certified and Pilates certified instructors, as well as current and former gymnasts and dancers: Jackie Earp, Jessica Kinzer, Emily McManus, Kylie Ready and Lindsay Livingston.
Page 31 Facility: This past August, Institute of Dance Arts moved from St. Petersburg into its brand new home in Largo. The 6,000 sf facility features large dance rooms (1,200 sf each), all fully barred and mirrored with sprung flooring, multiple bathrooms, changing rooms and a large waiting area which is over 70 feet in length with comfortable seating, drinking fountains and student areas for homework and dining. The new location also includes a studio store and front office to best serve dancers and families, as well as ample parking. Disciplines: Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop. IDA’s yearly curriculum also includes technique classes: Stretch & Tumble (Acro), Core Strength, Leaps & Turns and several supplemental ballet technique classes. Dancers may enroll any time of the year and will be placed in classes with regard to age and skill level. All prospective students will receive a FREE TRIAL Class in their genre of choice. Private lessons are also available for any student wishing to receive individual instruction or additional practice time for a specific skill, combination or general technique/flexibility. Competitive Dance Company: The IDA Elite are a competitive dance company for students wishing to take their dance training to the highest level. Company dancers attend at least 4 regional competitions, 2 conventions and a national each year and perform in the studio’s annual Showcase. Awarded over 100 top honors, including 1st Overalls, Platinum+ scores, as well as group and individual recognition for technique and choreography, the IDA Elite have quickly become one of Tampa Bay’s most prestigious dance teams. Institute of Dance Arts takes pride in giving students the platform and foundation to take dance wherever they wish, may it be for fun, fitness or a future career. Several IDA students have been invited to attend professional training ballet companies such as the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet in New York City and The Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia. History: In 1987, Ruth Eckerd Hall’s Education Committee Chair, Marcia P. Hoffman, proposed formal establishment of an education Institute, which was overwhelmingly passed by the board of directors. The Institute became the official educational arm of Ruth Eckerd Hall and by 1999, the board of directors determined a larger facility was needed to respond to the community’s demand for arts education. In 2002, construction began to expand the facilities, bringing more classrooms and rehearsal studios adjacent to Ruth Eckerd Hall, made possible, in part, through the generosity of the Hoffman family. In 2003, the new facility opened and the Institute is renamed in honor of Marcia P. Hoffman, a founder of Ruth Eckerd Hall and its education program. The official name of the institute is now the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts.

Disciplines: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Drama, On Camera Acting, Voice, Musical Theater, Choirs, Private Lessons and Adult Classes
Programs: Classes are offered for all ages and abilities, however, auditions are required for select classes to ensure proper placement. Whether you are new to the arts or preparing for college level training, the Hoffman School of the Arts has a program for you. Master Classes and Workshops: Students who are high school sophomores and above may choose to enrich their training throughout the year by participating in available master classes and workshops. These opportunities are usually in connection with an artist or company being presented at Ruth Eckerd Hall or in residency at the school. Individual Instruction is available for dance, acting, voice, drama, violin, piano, guitar and brass instruments throughout the year for youth and adults. Through one-on-one instruction, the teacher assists participants in discovering their full potential and directs them in a continued use of their talents in a method that focuses on individual development rather than the development of the group or ensemble. The outcome for the participant is a strengthening of technique, artistic skill, self awareness, and individual possibilities. Scholarships: Through the sponsorship support of individuals and corporations, tuition assistance is available to anyone who wishes to study at the Hoffman School and can show financial need. Scholarships are based on availability but all are encouraged to apply. Very popular Summer Camps are offered every year which fill up fast. Early registration is encouraged.

MilPro Publications Ballet Russe De Monte Carlo in New York City. There she studied with such notables as Maria Swaboda, Wilson Marielli, Leon Danilion and Perry Brunson. She studied at Carnegie Hall with Vlademir Konstantinov, formerly of the Kirov Ballet. She was lead dancer and assistant director with the City Center Ballet of Tampa for 15 years. Linda is also very active in musical theater and has over 50 musicals to her credit. Linda was an instructor at Ruth Eckerd Hall for 6 years and has taught dance in the Tampa Bay area for over 30 years.
Page 33 Miss Linda hosts an end-of-year Recital (no recital fees) as well as a Christmas production of Land of the Sweets in house every December. Dancers from the studio also participate in the Safety Harbor Renaissance Festival and other city events at the gazebo on Main Street. The studio offers Special Needs Dance Classes which are designed to promote a fun and inclusive environment while encouraging selfconfidence and independence.
In 1991, Linda opened her own studio so that she could work with beginners and professionals to share her experience, expertise and love of the arts with her students. Facility: The studio is conveniently located in downtown Safety Harbor on Main Street. The facility offers a brand new Harlequin Cascade dance floor which is the ideal surface for ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and more. In fact, the same floor is used in Disney World productions and at major ballet companies. The studio has a comfortable waiting area with an observation window for waiting parents. Disciplines: Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Belly Dance, Zumba, Ballroom, Yoga and Acting/Improv Programs: Classes are offered to all ages and abilities. Students may take one or more classes per week. Classes are 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours of concentrated instruction. Classes are arranged according to age and development of each student. She was a member of Dance Masters of America for 25 years, a National Dance Teachers Association. She directed the American Ballet School and Company in Veneto, Italy for 15 years and won “Best Ballet School” at the International Dance Grand Prix at Barcelona, Spain. She also studied Ballroom Dance with Arthur Murray in Italy and won “Best Exhibition” in the Waltz in Verona, Italy in 2004. Over 1,000 children in Pinellas County do not have a volunteer Guardian ad Litem. As a Guardian ad Litem, you advocate in court and in the child welfare system for abused, abandoned, or neglected children. The Guardian ad Litem visits the child every month, becomes familiar with the child’s case, and makes recommedations to the court to help ensure the child has a safe, caring, and stable home. No prior experience is necessary; you will be well trained and supported by an experienced supervisory and legal staff. Once trained, volunteers spend an average of ten hours a month. Kaitlyn has been studying ballet for nine years and been dancing with Tampa Bay Ballet (TBB) in Tampa since it opened in 2008. She has participated in TBB’s Summer Intensive Workshops for the past three years. She has also performed in Dracula, Alice in Wonderland, The Nutcracker and several repertoires since joining Tampa Bay Ballet. Having performed in all of Tampa Ballet Theatre’s Nutcrackers, she has had the opportunity to perform numerous roles over the past five years, but is most excited to perform the role of Clara this year. Although dancing is her favorite activity, Kaitlyn also enjoys reading, going to the beach and riding bicycles and horses.
Directors/CoFounders: Elaine Forestier started the studio in 1961 and in 1991, her daughter, Patricia McNally joined the studio after having a successful career in New York performing in shows such as “Cats” and “Sophisticated Ladies”. Patricia Ann Dance Studios is now celebrating 54 years in Dunedin and has expanded to its current location with three classrooms and a competition team. Patricia McNally holds certification with the American Ballet Theatre’s teacher curriculum levels pre-primary through 5. Additionally, she is the Musical Theatre Dance adjunct teacher at Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School.
Programs: The studio offers classes for students, both children and adults, interested in building self esteem, coordination, and poise through the joy of dance! The studio focuses on giving students skills they can use to pursue their own goals. Many students pursue careers

Students have had the honor of being accepted and attending programs at Juilliard, Alvin Ailey, ABT, Boston Ballet, Sarasota Ballet, Chicago Human Rhythm Project, Tap City, Broadway Theatre Project, FSU Summer Dance, Oklahoma City University’s Summer Musical Theatre Program and University of Michigan’s Summer Program. Students have also been honored with scholarships from Ruth Eckerd Hall, Tampa Bay Business Council of America, Young Arts and Walker’s Rising Stars. All students are placed in classes with regard to age and skill level. Placement for students with previous training is by audition. Trial classes are offered to prospective students at NO charge. Competition Team: Auditions are held in August each year for the school year season. (ages 6-20). The Patricia Ann Competition Team competes regionally 3 times each season in addition to community performances. The team attends nationals in July. In 2014, the team was honored with 10 first place national championships. Among the honored dancers, Kayla Cowart, senior tap solo, Ethan Zeph Intermediate musical theater solo, Teagan Reed contemporary solo, Shannon Seiwert senior ballet solo, in addition to 6 group pieces. Teagan Reed also took first runner up for Senior Male Dancer of the Year 2014. Additionally, every solo entered as a team was asked to attend the Dancer of the Year Competition Festivities, including Brianna Boyd, Kayla Cowart, Kara Lysen, Emily Walker, Teagan Reed, Shannon Seiwert, Ingrid Baker, Katherine Cyr, Eileen Lee, Sophia Marro, Rose Dennison and Jeffery Watkins. Patricia Ann Dance sponsors the community outreach tap ensemble, Tapped In. This group of tappers under the direction of Morgan Angelillis, ages 16+, performs in community events locally, hosts educational lecturedemonstrations, and travels to attend and

Mrs. Clark has been teaching ballet, as well as other forms of dance, for over 18 years and has owned and operated the Tampa Bay Ballet School for 7 years. As Director of Tampa Bay Ballet (TBB) and Tampa Ballet Theatre (TBT), Mrs. Clark is dedicated to offering her students professional training and performing experience. She has choreographed The Nutcracker for TBB and TBT, which the students and professionals perform each year. Ms. Clark has also restaged many classical ballets for the school and company such as Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, La Bayadere, Les Sylphides and Alice In Wonderland. She has also choreographed classical and contemporary original works for TBB and TBT, like Dracula. All students have the opportunity to perform for numerous charities, public events and festivals each year. A Mentorship Program is available for the trainees of TBT II, which allows them the opportunity to explore possible avenues and prepare for their future careers. Programs: Tampa Bay Ballet instruction emphasizes proper placement, posture and classical ballet vocabulary. Dance Program: Taking dance at TBPAA is different than most dance schools. Taught by professional dancer, Amanda Witt (she is a former Lightning Girl for the Tampa Bay Lightning and danced in an MTV video), dance classes coordinate with private vocal students to produce a musical extravaganza usually reserved for professionals on cruise ships and professional theaters. Dance class students may be featured in a Broadway Junior Musical as well.

Disciplines: Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, Urban Jazz, Lyrical, Technique, Hip Hop and Musical Theater Programs: Classes are centered on “applied technique” and offer an unconventional structure in order to better facilitate the needs of the students. Her career spans TV movies and series, commercials, feature films and stage. She came to Florida in 1980 and began teaching at local stages in 1985.
