I'll be more careful with what I write in the future...

I'm not going to mention the L word, but I will say that as things get going again (I am writing this in early July - how are things now?) it will be even more important to give your support to the businesses based in your local communities, many of whom have been hit extremely hard by being unable to trade for such a long time.

Sadly, there are no events, no discount vouchers and no Toddler Timetable listed in this issue, but there are some special offers in individual adverts and you'll find eleven excellent Competitions. At the eastern edge of the Park is the ‘Fingermaze’, a piece of public sculpture carved into the park and lined with stone and lime mortar. The Fingermaze is a giant fingerprint which incorporates a Cretan labyrinth within its whirling design. Originally forming part of a farmyard, the 9th Duke of Devonshire gave the garden to the town of Eastbourne in 1909. Includes duck pond and sheltered lawns for picnicking. The pond is the source of the Bourne stream from which ‘East Bourne’ got its name. There is an historic round, flint-built dovecote with a conical tiled roof standing on an upper level. Main paths suitable for wheelchair access. Free entry.

South Downs National Park and South Downs Way, including Ditchling Beacon, which is the second highest point in the South Downs National Park with spectacular views across the Weald. As the name suggests, Ditchling Beacon was one of a chain of fires lit to warn of impending invasions. It was once an Iron Age hillfort, with its steep northern slope used as a natural defence. It’s now managed by The National Trust and Sussex Wildlife Trust. You can reach Ditchling Beacon via Breeze Buses which are open top in summer - weather permitting.

Extensive sand play area, boardwalk running through the sand area and paths through the grassy areas. Petanque terrain, skate park, table tennis tables, sensory gardens and café building with public toilets, including a disabled toilet.

Undercliff Walk just over 5km from Brighton Marina to Saltdean, the walk can be used by both cyclists and pedestrians. Occasionally very wet when the waves come over the seawall!

West Park Local Nature Reserve Uckfield. Relatively small reserve covering just over 8.5 acres of woodland, grassland, marshy areas and sandstone outcrops. Boardwalks provide easy access around the site.

William Daly Recreation Ground Brightling Road, Polegate. Miniature railway on summer weekends free to ride but donations very welcome.

Worth Way A 7 mile long shared-use route from Three Bridges to East Grinstead used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders and indirectly linked to the Forest Way which continues to Groombridge, 01293 542088
