The Complete Labelling Solution – Because Kids Lose Stuff!

Foundations Community Pre-School Expands with a New Setting

Labels4Kids offers a wide range of name labels, so whatever you need to be able to identify, they’ve got a solution, with labels for school, camp, sports clubs, daycare, and more. Choose from iron on labels, sew in labels, sticky labels, click on labels, and dishwasher and microwave-proof labels for water bottles or lunch boxes.

Foundations Community Pre-School is expanding to meet the demand for pre-school spaces for 2-5 year olds in Old Woking. They are opening another Pre-School in September 2014, based at New Life Church, Old Woking. Foundations’ current setting, based at St Peter’s Church Centre, has been oversubscribed for the last three years and the new setting is just a few minutes away. The new setting will open, initially, for morning sessions between 8.45am to 12pm Monday to Friday.

Labels4Kids continues the expansion and modernisation of their website to make the ordering process faster and smoother. Not only can you design your vinyl order onscreen now, but postage is free for orders of £20 or more, and they have a 100% money-back guarantee if you have any problems with your labels. Labels4Kids apologise for any ordering problems you may have encountered last year during the website move which took longer than expected but is now completed. The popular company is expecting a very busy summer, so do remember to get your orders in early at the start of summer to guarantee a quick turnaround in time for school. Follow them on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter or Flickr, or sign up to their blog for news of more developments later this year!

‘Make UK’ goes global with the launch of online shopping Nestled in the Hampshire countryside, Make UK is a really special place to shop. It’s packed full of unusual, quirky and just plain gorgeous treasures all of which are handmade by a handpicked team of artisans and creators. Set up in September 2012 by business mums and friends, Jane Gosnell and Lou Hamer, Make UK has its headquarters at Applegarth Farm in Grayshott, Hampshire. “We were both passionate about handmade,” said Jane. “And we felt that local makers had something special and different to offer, but they needed an outlet to showcase their products – so Make UK was born!” And now Make UK’s unique range is available to buy online at the click of a mouse. “We wanted to bring our stunning collection of unique home accessories and gifts to the masses – though they’re certainly not mass produced!” said Lou. “It’s so quick and easy now to buy something really special on our website, while supporting local businesses at the same time.” And if you’ve ever fancied getting creative, then why not have a go yourself? Now you can book Make UK’s fun workshops via the online shop too. The creative cabin at Applegarth Farm is a really charming, peaceful location to enjoy learning a new skill. Great coffee and cake too! www.makeuk.co.uk.

Camouflaged Learning this Summer

3. Get into Top Trumps - Top Trumps is becoming more and more popular in schools as it delivers a range of educational benefits through ‘camouflaged learning’. As well as being great fun, it improves literacy, numeracy and subject knowledge. The card games are perfect for taking away on holiday. www.toptrumps.com 4. Get children cooking - Everything involved in cooking is fantastic for children’s learning, from reading the recipe and weighing ingredients, to sharing cakes with friends. This can be made into a more social event with friends by recreating programmes such as ‘Come Dine with Me’ or ‘MasterChef’ with friends, where children have to read and write their own menus too.

Research shows that many children make steady progress in their reading throughout the school year and then go backwards during the long summer holidays. The consequences are cumulative and long lasting, often having a powerful influence on reading ability throughout school life and beyond. Whilst summer holidays should be remembered for beaches, camping and chilling out, it is important to keep children reading. Here are a few fun favourites of Reading Chest to keep your children reading this summer –

Water Babies are offering new customers a free swim nappy when they book onto the next term. Classes are held locally in Addlestone, Bordon, Cobham, Godalming, West Horsley and Woking. Melissa, who runs Water Babies in West Surrey says “You can begin your Water Babies journey at the start of any term - and the earlier, the better! Our youngest-ever Water Baby was just 2 days old (aaah!). In their first year, a baby’s brain grows more rapidly than at any other time, so it makes sense to start early and maximise their exposure to learning experiences in a variety of environments. And what’s more, NHS guidelines say babies don’t need to have had their vaccinations before they can swim. Babies and toddlers just love being in warm water and swimming is the perfect exercise for little ones, since water allows their muscles to move freely and they’re supported by its buoyancy.” For more information please call 01932 227 428 or email underthewaves@waterbabies.co.uk. Chessington World of Adventures

Sayers Croft Trust

Chessington has a brand new ride experience - the Scorpion Express set within Mexicana’s Scorpion Valley - a land of sweeping sands and gold mines. Adventurers must board the old train of the Scorpion Express as it’s the only way to cross the sands, ruins of the mines and abandoned town. Watch out for surprises at every turn though – try not to get too close or too wet! The Resort will also be expanding with the launch of the Azteca Hotel, a new templethemed Resort hotel located literally within the heart of the Theme Park and Zoo and with 69 amazing bedrooms. Adventurers will have the opportunity of waking up to see monkeys from their windows and might even see some fish swimming by as they eat in the fully themed restaurant! This exciting new hotel connects to the existing Chessington Safari Hotel where you can enjoy a wild safari adventure with views across the Wanyama Reserve where Grevy Zebras, Rothschild Giraffes, Ostriches, Scimitar Horned Oryx and a whole host of other astounding African animals roam.

Sayers Croft Trust in Ewhurst has loads of exciting events and activities for all ages running during the summer holidays including bushcraft, pond dipping, a Gruffalo walk, high ropes, crafts and caving in their new caving complex! For more details please see www.sayerscrofttrust.org.uk/events.
