CAUSES

Plaque Buildup: The primary cause of gum infections is the accumulation of plaque, a sticky film composed of bacteria, food particles, and saliva. If plaque is not adequately removed through regular brushing and flossing, it can harden into tartar (calculus), leading to gum inflammation and infection.

Poor Oral Hygiene: Inadequate oral hygiene practices, such as irregular brushing, improper flossing, or neglecting dental care, can contribute to the development of gum infections. Insufficient plaque removal allows bacteria to thrive, leading to inflammation and infection.

Bacterial Infection: Certain types of bacteria naturally reside in the oral cavity. However, when oral hygiene is lacking, harmful bacteria can multiply, leading to gum infections. Bacterial infections can cause gum inflammation, destruction of gum tissues, and bone loss.
