From Hood to Coast: A Scavenger Hunt

"Taking a day off work to help chaperone a SummerFest adventure on Mt. Hood was one of the highlights of my summer.

The day was well-organized, the weather was beautiful, and all of the FAIS students on the trip seemed to be having a great time.

Most of all, I enjoyed having the opportunity to watch my kid interact with mixed-age group of students."

As a parent, I often looked to help out on SummerFest projects because the days were a complete pleasure, filled with interesting activities that furthered the bond between myself and my son and his friends. Each time I volunteered, the program activities were so well organized that parent volunteers encountered surprisingly little stress while spending entire days exploring Oregon with middle schoolers.

"Rock Band was one of the most memorable parts about middle school. We got a group of 5 to 6 students who were interested in music together, and practiced for our band's upcoming show. At the end of the week, we performed 10 songs downtown at the Thirsty Lion Pub. That's not something you get to do everyday."
