Unfortunately, we had to cancel our August Board Meeting – the weather was terrible! Our September meeting is on the 10th at the Masters at 7:00 pm and we look forward to seeing you there. On October 8th, the FHAOI will have elections for board members. September is here and we have three months until Christmas. Where has the year gone? Fall begins on September 22nd, but for us Floridians, we rarely see Fall until quite a bit later. We also begin to welcome our snowbirds back into the park this month, and activities begin to ramp up. The craft show is set for October 17th and there are still some vendor spots available. This annual event brings people together to enjoy the talents of our friends and neighbors. If you are interested in being part of this event, please contact Renay at 407-538-0128. The cost for a table is $25. Below is the list of vendors as of August 27th. The FHAOI Reinhardt Fall Classic Golf Tournament and Gala will be held on November 7th and there are still opportunities for sponsorships available. And this year we’re making the tournament more of a community event. • The 5th Annual FHAOI Reinhardt Fall Classic Golf Tournament and Gala activities will open this year on Wednesday, November 4 at 4pm with the Quantum Insurance Par 3 Contest. Special thanks to Eddie McDonough of Quantum Insurance for making this happen. This Par 3 Contest is open to ALL residents, with an entry fee of $5. Each golfer will get one tee shot on the Par 3, 6th hole and we will have prizes for closest to the pin and special prizes for a hole-inone. Join us Wednesday evening at the 6th hole and participate or watch the contest. • Thursday, November 5 at 5:30pm, we will kick off the Silent Auction with a beer, wine and cheese reception at the Fairways Pro Shop. All the Silent Auction items will be at the Pro Shop for bidding Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm and Friday from 8am-4:30pm. All the items will be moved Saturday to the Masters Clubhouse for the Gala, and bidding will run from 5-8pm. All residents and golfers are eligible to bid on the items all three days. On Saturday, we will have a special entrance to the Silent Auction area for those who want to bid on items, but don’t have a ticket to the Gala. Studying the Bible School is back in session, so it’s time
for the ladies at the Fairways Women’s Christian Connection to get back to studying the Bible together. This month we’re meeting on Thursday, September 3rd and 17th at 6:15 pm at the Greenbrier. Praise and Prayer is held at the home of Frank and Reenie Nix, 1734 Inverary. Come join us as we praise the Lord through song and pray for everything going on in our lives. Date is Saturday, September 12th at 11 am. The ladies enjoy lunch together every other month. We’re going to Gator’s Dockside on Tuesday, September 15th, at noon. Address is 12448 Lake Underhill Road. Meet at the Masters at 11:30 for carpooling. Our outreach partner is Samaritan Resource Center. This month we’re collecting bodywash and bar soap. There are showers at the center, but soap is their most urgent need. There is a drop-off box at the home of Penny Maguire. Her address is 14349 Augusta Road. ATTENTION RIDERS: Courtesy van service is available to Hometown America Fairways residents who want to participate in adventures to area shopping centers. Each week, the van makes three runs: Tuesday to Publix; Wednesday to Winn Dixie and Friday open for Walmart, Aldis or another store upon request. “While that is the standard schedule, due to conflicts, days may change,” John Cutsinger, driver, said. “Riders are asked to make your reservation by Sunday to make sure seats can be confirmed, however you can call the day before to see if space is available.” The van is available at 10 a.m. at the Masters for loading. We know the temporary inconvenience was frustrating at times, and we greatly appreciate your support as the Hometown America team worked to restore the gate. Exit Gate Repairs Underway We would also like to provide an update regarding the exit gate. Repairs are currently underway, and we are awaiting delivery of the new gate from our vendor. Once the gate is received, installation will be scheduled and completed as quickly as possible. We kindly ask for your continued patience while we work diligently to resolve this issue. t’s all about health as Hometown America hosts both an immunization day and the Annual Health and Wellness Fair. Pre-registration for the Flu, Covid and RSV shots will be available at the Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, September 26. “Three shots will be offered, and you can take one, two or all three vaccinations,” Johnny Cutsinger, Hometown social codirector, said. Immunization day will be on Friday, October 2 from 10am to 1pm at the Masters. You must be pre-registered. And Get Ready for Some Great Music and Dancing! HTA is pleased to host a Huey Lewis & The News tribute band Friday, October 30th 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Masters. Great music and lots of dancing for our residents. Tickets will be distributed: • September 8th at the Masters 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm • September 14th 12;30 to 2:30 pm. • October 5th 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm • October 12th 5:00 pm to 6;30pm. October seventeenth Craft Show stands waiting, bright and clear,
inviting willing hands to help as another show draws near. Though October’s special morning still lies many weeks away, the seeds of preparation are quietly sown today. Just once a year, we hold this sale, our annual means to raise the funds that keep our projects strong through all the coming days. From needles, yarn, and spools of thread to machines that need repair, this single fundraiser helps us make the gifts of love we share. It is the seed from which a year of kindness gently grows, for every gift we stitch and share begins with what this fundraiser sows. The fabric bins are opened, and the patterns are spread around, as inspiration stirs where creativity is found. Our tables soon are covered with bright fabrics, thread, and lace, while patterns, baskets, scissors, and supplies all find their place. Ideas begin to blossom with each project taking shape, from colorful new aprons to blankets carefully draped. What seems today like simple cloth and yarn in measured rows will soon become the handcrafted treasures featured at the show. The sewing machines begin to hum with rhythm, soft and low, as colorful creations steadily begin to grow. Ideas pass from friend to friend as busy fingers sew, and every shared suggestion helps new inspiration grow. A spool of thread,
a measuring tape, and patterns neatly laid become the many treasured crafts by caring hands displayed. The scissors glide through cotton with a practiced, steady hand, while conversations wander as only friendships can. No single craft can tell the tale of all that’s done each day, for every willing heart and hand helps in their own special way. Some stitch decorative treasures, some crochet with care, while others cut and organize, with helping hands to spare. Some stitch and sew with practiced skill, some crochet loop by loop, together forming something greater than a simple sewing group. Each handcrafted creation shows the talents that we share, the product of devoted hands and thoughtful, loving care. No single project reaches life by just one pair of hands, because every member helps fulfill the group’s creative plans. Six warm blankets and seventy hats, each lovingly made with care, were delivered by one of our members to bring comfort to those there. To The Foster Love Project in Pittsburgh, these gifts were sent that day, carrying warmth, compassion, and kindness along their
way. From eight-thirty until eleven each Wednesday, we stitch and laugh the morning away. Within the Greenbrier, cool and bright, busy hands create with pure delight. The sewing machines begin to hum as friends arrive and newcomers come. With fabric, yarn, and thread in hand, we share our talents as we’ve planned. Each stitch we sew, both neat and true, becomes a gift of love anew. Our coffee break is always near, a treasured time we hold most dear. With tasty treats and laughter shared, new friendships blossom, gently cared. We live the thought that’s proven true: a friend may simply be someone new. So come and join our cheerful crew, you’ll find a warm welcome waiting for you.

he Latin American Club of Fairways wants to thank everyone who joined us for our Multicultural Dance in August. A lot of fun and we appreciate the great photos by Steve Buyea! Guests were invited to wear a cultural outfit of their choice, from their background or from a country you admire. We also requested you bring a dish – savory or sweet – representing the country of your choice. And guests delivered! We will be hosting another dance at the Masters on Saturday, October 3rd from 6:00-10pm. You are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to share. Everyone is invited to come for another fun filled evening of food, music, and dancing. Also, a reminder that our monthly meeting is always on the 4th Thursday of every month at the Masters at 6:00pm. We ask you to bring a covered dish or dessert and join us for dinner, a short meeting followed by playing a fun game of cards. Hope you can join us.
