Field of Flags
Thank you to the Fairways Veterans Group for placing the Field of Flags at the Triangle. The flags are placed to raise awareness of the high suicide rate among veterans and to honor their memory. The 600 flags in the Field of Flags represent the veterans who die by their own hand every month.
Golf Cart Parade
In honor of Memorial Day Fairways held a patriotically themed golf cart parade with residents encouraged to decorate their golf carts and pay tribute to U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the armed forces.

New Courtesy Van Maiden Voyage
Hometown America is pleased to now offer a new, larger courtesy van available to Fairways residents for shopping trips to Publix, Winn-Dixie and Walmart.
MAIDEN VOYAGE. Barbara Mishloney and Johnny Cutsinger rounded up Fairways residents who are off to shop at Walmart.
Shoppers rode in the new HTA van which seats up to 12. The van runs to Publix on Tuesdays from the Masters at 10 a.m. and to Walmart/Lunch on Thursdays and to Walmart on Fridays for shopping only.

EAT, DRINK & BE MERRY. Fairways residents come together for an evening of wine, cheese and relaxation. Hometown America hosts regularly scheduled Sunday evening events - a laid-back party with friends and neighbors.

FAIRWAYS COURTESY VAN
ATTENTION RIDERS: Courtesy van service is available to Hometown America Fairways residents who want to participate in adventures to area shopping centers.
Each week, the van makes three runs: Tuesday to Publix; Wednesday to Winn Dixie and Friday open for Walmart, Aldis or another store upon request.
“While that is the standard schedule, due to conflicts, days may change,” John Cutsinger, driver, said. “Riders are asked to make your reservation by Sunday to make sure seats can be confirmed, however you can call the day before to see is space is available.”
The van is available at 10 a.m. at the Masters for loading. Call or text John Cutsinger with any questions.
New England Canada Club Update

The Club met on Monday, May 18 at the Masters. President Fran Archibald welcomed everyone, and Letizia Morales led the invocation. Fran invited everyone to enjoy our fabulous potluck supper buffet before our membership meeting.
Ronnie Triccoche-Griffin, Sunshine Committee sent “Thinking of You” cards to Debbie Yeagley, Janet Scanlon, Ken Bickford, and Mae Glatthaar. Happy Anniversary to Janet and Mike Scanlon on 53 years of marriage. Debbie Yeagley welcomed all attendees at the sign-in table and distributed door prize raffle tickets. Tickets were drawn and winners selected prizes donated by Fran Achibald and many others.
We appreciate you! If you have some treasures you would like to donate, please bring them to the door prize table at our monthly meeting.
Angela Arty sold “Share the Wealth” raffle tickets and Ken Bickford and Jean Kijek each won $10.
Thank you to Frank Archibald, with the help of Letizia Morales and Mike Scanon, for setting up the chairs and tables for our buffet. Special thanks to Letizia who coordinates all aspects of our potluck supper. She gets all the food set up which usually includes casseroles, salads, vegetables, spaghetti, ham, fried chicken and so much more! And of course, delicious desserts. She is an amazing kitchen angel. Edwin Ramirez, Commander, Fairways Veterans Group announced there will be a Freedom Dance to help celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States, which will be on June 20th with DJ Zack providing the music. Tickets are $5 and the event will be at the Masters from 6:30-9:30pm.

Hurricane Season Safety Tips
Hurricane season begins in June, and preparation is key. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor furniture and décor, trim back loose branches, and review emergency plans. Keep essential supplies on hand such as water, batteries, and non-perishable food items. Staying prepared helps ensure the safety of your home and neighbors. Hometown has provided an insert in this edition of the Eagle with some helpful information and contact for this Hurricane Season.
Community Improvements at The Masters
We are excited to share that an upgrade to the audio-visual system at The Masters is currently underway. This enhancement will improve overall event experience and provide better sound and visual capabilities for gatherings and activities.
Golf Cart Path Repaving
Repaving the golf cart path from Hole 1 through Hole 7 is scheduled to begin in June. Please use caution in affected areas and watch for posted signage. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve community amenities.

To help eliminate any confusion regarding lot rent payments, please note that rent is due and payable on the first (1st) of each month, not the 10th.
A late fee will be assessed to your account if payment has not been received by the 10th of the month.
Please also be aware that our office processes payments Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Payments received after the close of business on Friday cannot be processed until the following Monday.

Hometown America replaced the long used courtesy van with a new van which seats more residents and groceries. The van seats twelve Fairways shoppers and boasts more storage space.
“Johnny and I, on behalf of residents, express a huge thank you to Manager Priscilla Herrick and Hometown America for the much-needed van,” Barb Mishloney, co-social director and driver, said.
The van takes shoppers to local grocery stores four days a week: Tuesdays to Publix, Wednesday to Winn Dixie and Thursdays and Fridays to Walmart.
“Many of you know that on Thursdays Barb drives a group of ladies to Walmart in Titusville followed by lunch. The “Miss Daisies”, as they have been named, have some shoppers who have been a part of the van service for nearly 20 years,” Johnny Cutsinger, social co-director, said. “When the guys show up on Thursday, we are known as the ‘dandelions’.”

JUNE 18: Fairways fathers will be honored by Hometown America with a fun game of golf. Dads will play nine holes with twists and turns on Thursday, June 18 and will meet at the Pro Shop at 5 p.m. with tee off at 5:30 p.m.
The dads-only event sign-ups can be made now at the Pro Shop. Winners will celebrate with pizza at the Masters after play is completed.
JULY 4: Hometown America will join the FHAOI to celebrate Independence Day with a daytime pool party and an evening parade.
“It’s an exciting time as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday,” Barb said.

Summertime is Here!
This time of the year means the ladies in the Fairways Christian Women’s Connection (FCWC) are taking a break.
Bible study and Praise and Prayer will resume in September. We will, however, continue collecting items for the Samaritan Resource Center. This ministry helps the homeless in our area with all kinds of needs including food, medical care and help from social services. Every day they hand out about 100 bottles of water.
In June we are collecting bottled water. When you go to the store, please pick up a case. If a case is too heavy, please find a friend who can purchase a whole case and drop it off.

The Philly Kid Strikes Again

On May 4th, John Jennings aka The Philly Kid, scored his second hole-in-one on hole number 17.
Upon interviewing John he said, “well I can’t let my brother, Gene, get too far ahead with the ace count”.
The Kid was playing in the Avery Group with Steve Owens, Orv Rein and Doug Biss. It was reported to me that John hit a pitching wedge and some reports say that the ball actually rolled 110 yards, much like a putt; but knowing John personally and having played golf with him, I like to believe that he struck his pitching wedge pure and the ball disappeared into the hole on the fly.
After his round, John collected his hole-inone pot and spent the majority of it on buying drinks for the group but saved enough to buy dinner for his wife and himself from La Spadas Philly Cheesesteaks in Sanford on SR 46. (Shameless plug for a great Philly style cheesesteaks).
Congratulations John on your accomplishment, and I hope you get more in the future and pass your brother Gene’s count. Go Eagles…ohhh that hurt to say!!

Singles Club Update
The Singles Club Card Games continue to meet at the Greenbrier for a fun filled evening playing card games. We start playing at 6 pm every Saturday and hope you can join us.
Also, we have our Single Club Dinners twice a month. On the first Sunday, June 7th, we will be meeting at Dixie Crossroads Seafood Restaurant at 4:00 pm. It is in Titusville at 1475 Garden St. in Titusville, 32796. Then on the third Thursday, June 18th, we are doing something very different! The Fairways Sewing Group continues to stay busy sharing comfort, kindness, and creativity with others through handmade projects created with care, compassion, and community spirit.
We are grateful to the many residents and friends who continue to support us with donations of yarn, fabric, sewing supplies, and equipment. Your generosity helps turn simple materials into meaningful gifts for people facing difficult days. Every donation helps transform simple materials into something that can comfort, encourage, and brighten someone’s day. Sometimes the simplest handmade gifts can bring the greatest comfort, and that is exactly what keeps our needles moving.
Last month, Abigail Velazquez, one of our Fairways staff members, traveled to Honduras on a Bethel Christian Church mission trip, carrying with her 12 dresses lovingly made from pillowcases by our group. When she returned with photos of the children wearing them, the smiles said everything. Simple fabric transformed into joy, and stitches here in Fairways finding their way into lives far beyond our community.
What makes the Fairways Sewing Group truly special is not only the items we create, but the spirit with which they are made. Every project is the result of many hands working together, some sewing, some crocheting, others cutting fabric, organizing supplies, pressing seams, or preparing materials. No contribution is ever too small, because every effort helps bring comfort and kindness to someone else.

The group meets every Wednesday from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Greenbrier, with a mid-morning coffee and treat break that everyone looks forward to. We are always happy to welcome new faces, new ideas, and anyone who would like to be part of something meaningful. No experience is needed. You do not have to be a seamstress or crocheter, just someone willing to help and enjoy the fellowship of others.

Fairways Fight for the
Golf Tournament
The tournament will be held on October 21 starting with a putting contest at 8:00 am followed by a round of golf. Lunch will be served at the Masters after the tournament, and we will have Share the Wealth and Raffles.
All proceeds go to Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation in Orlando. Breast cancer continues to be one of the leading causes of death to women so please join us and show your support for this most worthy case.

FLAG DAY
Origins of Flag Day
In the month of June we celebrate “Flag Day.” It’s celebrated on June 14th, which falls on a Sunday this year. Flag Day honors the adoption of the United States flag on June 14, 1777. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed June 14th as Flag Day, in which he recognized its importance in American culture and history. Although “Flag Day” is not a federal holiday, it is celebrated across the country, with various events and ceremonies honoring the flag and its symbolism.
Flag Day serves as a reminder of the values and history represented by the American flag. It is a day for Americans to reflect on the sacrifices made by many for the freedom we are able to enjoy today.
HONORING AND REMEMBERING VETERANS
On Saturday May 16th, U.S. Flags were placed at the Triangle to honor and remember our fellow Comrades. These are veterans of all the branches of service that have lost their lives by suicide. The suicide rate among veterans is currently at 18 per day, which total 540 monthly and a total 6,570 deaths a year. This is not acceptable. Veterans face a 58% higher suicide risk than civilians. Anyone can obtain support for themselves or anyone that you feel might be feeling depressed and has a slight possibility to commit suicide. The number is 800-273-8255, however you can also dial “988.”

CELEBRATING “USA 250” FREEDOM DANCE NIGHT
Even though we are celebrating 250 years of our Nations Independence in July, we are celebrating Americas 250th Birthday with a Freedom Dance Night. It will be on Saturday June 20th at the Masters Clubhouse. The dance will be from 6:30pm until 9:30pm. Door will open at 6:pm. Admission is $5.00 per person and tickets can be purchased in advance prior to the dance. We will be advertising how you can purchase your tickets on Facebook, NextDoor and the TV Monitors. We will have DJ Zack providing the music and entertainment. Remember: Attendees must be at least 18 years of age.
