Guests under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by a resident to all Community recreational facilities and common areas. Guests under the age of eighteen may use the Greenbrier swimming pool only during the hours of 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and the Masters swimming pool only during the hours of 1:00 p.m. to one half hour before sunset and must be accompanied by a resident over the age of eighteen.
No pets are allowed in the recreational facilities or common areas.
Acts of Service
One of the greatest opportunities the Lord has given is us “acts of service.” As summer begins to wind down, the Samaritan Resource Center still needs help. In August, the ladies at the Fairways Christian Women’s Connection (FCWC) are collecting bug spray for the homeless in our area. Drop off box is at Penny Maguire’s home at 14349 Augusta Road.

Fairways Sewing Group

As summer’s warmth still lingers and October draws near, the Fairways Sewing Group begins its busiest time of year. The annual Craft Show on October 17th awaits, a goal both bright and clear, and eager hands are gathering with purpose, pride, and cheer. When the Craft Show season comes, everyone can see that our sewing room is buzzing with creative energy.
With every passing Wednesday now, October nears once more, the sewing room grows busier than ever seen before. The calendar keeps turning as October draws into view, and our sewing room grows busier with always much to do. The Craft Show is a chance for all Fairways neighbors to see, a celebration of craftswomanship and community.
For though October still seems many weeks away, the Craft Show’s preparations quietly start today. With October seventeenth now circled boldly on the page, the Craft Show calls for our willing hands and talents to engage. The fabric bins are opened wide, and the patterns reappear, because the Fairways’ annual Craft Show will soon once again be here.
Our tables will be covered with bright fabrics, thread, and lace, while patterns, baskets, scissors, and supplies all find their place. What seems today like simple cloth and yarn in measured rows will soon become the handcrafted treasures featured at the show. Ideas pass from friend to friend as busy fingers sew, and every shared suggestion helps new inspiration grow. The sewing machines begin to hum with rhythm, soft and low, as colorful creations steadily begin to grow.
The tables fill with fabric, thread, and plans anew, as laughter joins the work that caring hearts pursue. No task too small to matter, no effort set aside, for every member brings a gift and quiet pride. Some measure cloth with practiced skill and steady eye, while others cut and press as busy hours drift by. The hum of sewing machines becomes a gentle song, a rhythm that reminds us that we all somehow belong. While the hands are busy and the sewing machines hum, friendships deepen naturally as conversations come. The projects may be destined for the Craft Show’s busy day, but the bonds created in making them will never fade away. Each Wednesday morning, bright and clear, the Sewing Group is gathered there. From eight thirty until eleven, we stay sharing friendship throughout the day. Within the Greenbrier, cool and bright, we work together with delight. A coffee break is always near, A favorite time we hold quite dear. With treats and laughter all around, new friendships blossom and are found. We believe that a stranger is a friend we have not met yet. So please join us; it’s an opportunity you won’t regret.

The LACF is sponsoring the Multicultural Dance at the Masters on Saturday, August 8th from 6 to 10pm and you’re invited! The tickets are $7.00 each.
Everyone is invited to wear a cultural outfit of their choice, from your background or from a country you like. Bring a dish or a dessert representing a country cuisine, your own beverage, and enjoy a fun-filled evening dancing to music by DJ Brian.

ATTENTION RIDERS: Courtesy van service is available to Hometown America Fairways residents who want to participate in adventures to area shopping centers.
Each week, the van makes three runs: Tuesday to Publix; Wednesday to Winn Dixie and Friday open for Walmart, Aldis or another store upon request.
“While that is the standard schedule, due to conflicts, days may change,” John Cutsinger, driver, said. “Riders are asked to make your reservation by Sunday to make sure seats can be confirmed, however you can call the day before to see is space is available.”

From community gatherings and special events to everyday conversations, each experience has made my time here incredibly meaningful.
I am deeply grateful for the support, kindness, and trust that you have shown me throughout the years. The friendships I have made and the fun times we have shared are what I will miss the most. Fairways has been much more than a workplace to me. It has been a community that I have been proud to call my second home.
As I begin this new chapter, I leave with a heart full of gratitude and wonderful memories that I will cherish forever.

It’s time to get ready for the cold and flu season with the first sign-up and paperwork completion on Monday, August 3. At the Masters, residents can sign up from 11:30 a. m.-2:30 p.m.
“We will have a second sign-up on Tuesday, September 1 from 11:30 a.m.-2-2:30 p.m. The flu shots will be given at the Masters on Friday, October 2 with hours to be announced,” Karen Barber, coordinator, said. “Flu, Covid and RSV shots are your options, and more than one shot can be given on that day.”
On Sunday, August 9, join your friends and neighbors for a wine and cheese evening. “This is always a fun, low-key event at the Masters from 6 -8 p.m.,” Barb Mishloney, Co-Director, for Hometown activities, said. “Bring a bottle of your favorite wine and a light snack to share.”
Primary elections will take place in the Masters on Tuesday, August 18 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Be sure to vote.
Mark Saturday, September 26 on your calendar for the annual Health Fair. The hours will be announced in the September Eagle and on the monitors at the mailboxes and the Westchester and Greenbrier.

New England/Canada Club Update Orange County Primary Election:

The Club met on Monday July 20th, and President Fran Archibald welcomed attendees and invited everyone to enjoy the delicious potluck supper buffet.
After dinner, Fran opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and asked for a moment of silence to remember those who had passed.
Fran wished Happy Birthday to Richard Grote and Steve Hopgood, and we all sang “Happy to You” to both. Ardith made a special birthday cake. Fran thanks VP Linday Murray for helping set up the tables and chairs and also thanked Debbie Yeagley for welcoming members and distributing door prize tickets.
Linda Murray sold Share the Wealth tickets and Debbie Yeagley distributed $15 and $5 to winner Don Pfieffer and $10 to Richard Grout. Sunshine Chair Ronnie Tricoche-Griffin reports she sent a get-well card to Gilbert Lowe. Thank you to all who helped with the potluck supper, particularly Letizia Morales!

Reinhardt Fall Classic
Golf Tournament and Gala Preparation is in Full Swing!

We are at close to 30 teams signed up to play and the schedule for the week is shaping up. This year, we are trying to make this more of an entire community event and here are some things we have changed or added:
Each of the 18 holes is available for sponsorship by local businesses and by groups of residents. So, here’s the deal: get 10 to15 of your friends to sponsor a hole, select a theme for that hole and during the tournament you will be at that hole having a party. The cost to have a business or a group of people sponsor a hole is $350.00. Let’s try to get your groups together in August. See Mark Kornmann for more details or to sign up for a hole.
The 5th Annual FHAOI Reinhardt Fall Classic Golf Tournament and Gala activities will open this year on Wednesday, November 4 at 4pm with the Quantum Insurance Par 3 Contest. Special thanks to Eddie McDonough of Quantum Insurance for making this happen. This Par 3 Contest is open to ALL residents, with an entry fee of $5. Each golfer will get one tee shot on the Par 3, 6th hole and we will have prizes for closest to the pin and special prizes for a hole-in-one. Join us Wednesday evening at the 6th hole and participate or watch the contest.
Thursday, November 5 at 5:30pm, we will kick off the Silent Auction with a beer, wine and cheese reception at the Fairways Pro Shop. All the Silent Auction items will be at the Pro Shop for bidding Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm and Friday from 8am4:30pm. All the items will be moved Saturday to the Masters Clubhouse for the Gala, and bidding will run from 5-8pm. All residents and golfers are eligible to bid on the items all three days. On Saturday, we will have a special entrance to the Silent Auction area for those who want to bid on items, but don’t have a ticket to the Gala.
In the September issue of the Eagle, we will feature the Saturday, November 7th Reinhardt Fall Classic schedule. We will include information about the golf and gala schedule.

Easy Summer Recipe!
This 15-minute Italian spinach and cannellini bean dish is creamy, healthy and made in one pan. A quick Mediterranean recipe that’s perfect for a weeknight dinner or as an appetizer. Serve warm with toasted, crusty bread. Baguette works well!
• One cup of cherry or grape tomatoes, halved
• Two cans cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
• Half an onion, chopped, sweet, white or yellow
• One bunch of fresh spinach
• 1 tablespoon of tomato paste (buy the paste in the tube)
• 1 heaping tablespoon of ricotta cheese
• Quarter cup of white wine
• Quarter cup of water
Olive oil – about three tablespoons
– salt, pepper, chili pepper and you can add Italian spice blend if you would like. Bread for serving.
1. Sauté onion and chili pepper in olive oil until fragrant
2. Add spinach and cook until just wilted
3. Pour in wine and let it simmer for one minute
4. Sitr in tomatoes, tomato paste and water. Cook until tomatoes soften
5. Add beans, season with salt and pepper and let everything blend
6. Turn off heat and stir in ricotta until creamy
7. Drizzle with olive oil and serve warm with toasted bread

You can order a brick to honor a veteran that you know. It can be a family member or a friend. They do not need to live in Fairways, nor do they have to be deceased. We want all our Fairways residents to join us in honoring all veterans. We would like to have a Brick Laying Ceremony sometime in the month of August. It is TOP GUNMAVERICK. Set 30 years after its predecessor, it follows Maverick’s return to the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program
(also known as U.S. Navy-Fighter Weapons School - “TOPGUN”), where he must confront his past as he trains a group of younger pilots, among them the son of Maverick’s deceased best friend Lieutenant Nick “Goose” Bradshaw, USN. Bring your own snacks and beverages. THIS IS FOR ALL FAIRWAYS RESIDENTS.

In the past six months we have been able to obtain transportation for various veterans to and from their doctors appointments, facilitated the enrollment of veterans into the Veterans Administration Medical Center facilities to help provide veterans with medical care which includes disability benefits and we were able to obtain ramps to the homes of various veterans, in order to allow them easy access to and from their homes. We couldn’t have done all of this without our community’s support.

This is an invitation for us to celebrate and see the values that have made the Fairways the place it’s come to be. This new monthly series has a simple goal we’ll thoughtfully pursue: to build a stronger Fairways through the things we say and do. Each month, we’ll share another way good neighbors play their part, by giving willing hands and minds an open hand and heart.
A neighborhood begins with homes arranged along the street, but only caring hearts can make a community complete. Though houses stand side by side and winding roads may guide our way, a true community is born through kindness shown each day. The beauty of our Fairways shines through more than lawns and trees; it’s found in simple acts of love that put our hearts at ease. For neighborhoods become communities when neighbors choose to care, and every heart that joins the task leaves lasting blessings there.
We’ll also share the many ways that each of us can be part of a stronger, kinder, and more welcoming community. This is but the first of many conversations yet to come, exploring how strong communities are built by everyone. Throughout the months that lie ahead we’ll pause from time to time to share another building block that helps our community shine.
Above all else, we’ll celebrate the kindness people show, for one good deed inspires another, helping the Fairways grow. We’ll tell of clubs that fill our days with fellowship and cheer, bringing neighbors close through common joys throughout the year. We’ll meet the quiet volunteers who seldom seek applause yet faithfully give countless hours in service to a cause. We’ll see how good communication keeps everyone aware, inviting every resident to join, belong, and share. We’ll celebrate traditions that unite us year by year, the gatherings and holidays that everyone holds dear. We’ll welcome every generation with fresh dreams yet to be shared and new ideas that help our community flourish everywhere. We’ll learn that differing opinions need never pull us apart when dignity and kindness guide the language of the heart. We’ll speak of neighbors whose burdens may be hidden from our view, and how a visit, meal, or prayer can help a neighbor through. We’ll honor every helping hand and every thoughtful deed, for communities grow strongest when good neighbors meet a need.
Together we can build a place where friendships freely roam, and every heart feels valued in this community we call home. So come and join this journey as together we embrace the joy of building the Fairways into an even better place.
The tournament will be held on October 21 starting with a putting contest at 8:00 am followed by a round of golf. Lunch will be served at the Masters after the tournament, and we will have Share the Wealth and Raffles. All proceeds go to Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation in Orlando. Breast cancer continues to be one of the leading causes of death to women so please join us and show your support for this most worthy case.
