FAIRFIELD CITY CENTRE
Capital Works 2019 EPOCH PLAZA • Epoch Plaza is located at 4 Station Street, Fairfield and provides a gateway to the Fairfield City Centre. Upon completion, the ambience and visual features within the Epoch Plaza will be noticeably enhanced. The proposed improvements provide for ‘up lighting’ of the Epoch ‘heritage silhouettes’, installation of stormwater heel-proof grates, interpretive signage and new and general improvements to the existing surrounding landscape beds. These works are due for completion by approximately June 2019. • Total allocation for improvement works is $75,000.
THOMAS WARE PLAZA • Thomas Ware Plaza is located between 30 Nelson Street and 4 Station Street, Fairfield and is the main access point for pedestrian movements from Ware Street and the Fairfield Forum shopping precinct. The proposed improvement works will continue the visual enhancement theme and provide a welcoming public space. Some of these works will include rejuvenation of the soft fall at the playground facility, placement of “bud lighting” at palm trees, general cleaning of pavement and the addition of a new water station. These works are due for completion by approximately June 2019. • Total allocation for improvement works is $75,000.
THE CRESCENT • This project is located in the section from Hamilton Road to Court Road. The Crescent is the primary connection between the Fairfield City Centre and the rail and public transport network. Over recent years there have been capital works which have included footpath upgrade treatments and the construction of the new ‘The Crescent Plaza’. The continuation of these improvement works include footpath paving treatments, upgrading of landscaping, refurbishment of memorial features, including interpretive signage within The Crescent open space area adjacent to the railway lines. The addition of engraved ‘street name’ footpath pavers at key locations will be a first for our City Centre. There will also be renewal of sections of kerb and guttering. These works are due for completion by approximately December 2019. • Total allocation for this improvement works project is $250,000.
