The championship was back in full force this weekend, where our sponsored team delivered some extremely positive results.

The free practice sessions on Friday were more about physical fitness for Alvaro Bautista, having spent the summer break recovering from his shoulder injury picked up at Laguna Seca. Despite some discomfort, the Spaniard managed to secure 2nd fastest.

Chaz picked up his pace within the afternoon session where he was 5th fastest, but due to a combination of placements, he was 10th overall.

Race one began with a blistering pace that almost ended in disaster for both Aruba.it riders when they narrowly avoided contact on

Chaz wasn’t to be so fortunate during race two. Following on from a disappointing 10th in the earlier Superpole, the Welshman started from 14th on the grid. If this wasn’t challenging enough, he also experienced gear-shifter issues which scuppered his attempts of climbing the leader board; a result of which left him in a finishing place of 16th.

Bautista, on the other hand, battled away for six laps before taking the lead from front runner Rea (Kawasaki), which he held until the end.

lap one. Bautista ran off to miss both Chaz and other competitors, leaving him lagging behind in 16th.

Meanwhile, Chaz kept with the leading pack throughout, bagging a podium position of 2nd.

Bautista didn’t give up though, demonstrating racing skill at its finest, he climbed to 4th place, just missing out on a podium position by a couple of seconds.

With just three races left of 2019, the competition will be hotting-up. Bautista & Chaz sit 2nd and 7th respectively, with the Spaniard 91 points off Rea, he’ll have to pull out all the stops to vie for the WSBK crown.

»»Engine of the Month 1.6 Petrol Focus & C-Max Born from the Zetec generation of engines, this highly utilised powerplant was dubbed Duratec from 2010, with the Zetec name remaining as purely a trim level.

The 1.6 naturally aspirated petrol engine was gradually squeezed out by its’ smaller more frugal counterpart, the 1.0 Ecoboost.

This doesn’t mean that the 1.6 should be ignored though and here’s why… There’s flippin loads of them!

Sorry, we’ll elaborate. A huge swathe of Focus Mk II & III and C-Max’s were fitted with a variant of the 1.6, providing a happy medium for most family drivers.
