Engine of the Month VAG
2.0l TDi CR
The good-old VAG 2.0 TDi, what can we say about an engine that has powered literally millions of cars in various states of tune. Well, this was one of the defining engines in the battle between petrol v. diesel in showrooms across the land.
Once the CR variants were introduced throughout VW’s brands the battle was well and truly won (if not the war); with customers forgiving the quintessential ‘taxi’ sound for low running costs.
Terms like ‘mid-range punch’ and ‘torque figures’ were suddenly heard batted around the pub as bragging rights for the new car parked outside. Only to be met with the response ‘but it sounds a like tractor’…but this was to be short lived as the 170 hp rep-mobiles started winning the M6 toll drag race.
VAG are terrible at creating a seemingly endless array of engine codes, leaving us wondering if they somehow related to tyre size. For this reason, we’ve not picked just one code like the CAGA which goes in cars like the Audi A3; suffice to say, the following parts are just a small selection of what we have to offer for the CAGA, CAGC, CAHA, CBAB, CBBB, CBDC, CBDB, CBEA, CEGA, CFCA, CFFB, CFFD etc, etc.

Vehicle of the Month
Opel/Vauxhall
Corsa Mk IV (E) 2014>
The Corsa name has been in the UK since 1993 and in that quarter of a century the various generations have morphed into something very different to the MK1. In recent years the vehicle market has been in a state of flux with some of the most demanding years for manufacturers landing within the last couple of decades. Once upon a time the Corsa was a cheap A-to-B car but keeping with the times, the 2014 model is a more grown-up affair and ticks a lot of buyers’ boxes; a target audience Vauxhall has gotten to know well.
The name Corsa stirs different emotions in us all. Undoubtedly some of your first cars, the car your mum drove or the car you spent 2k on modding in the late 90’s. Whatever it means to you, it’s fair to say that this has always been one of the most common small hatches on the road albeit living in the shadow of its arch nemesis, the Ford Fiesta.
We’ve always loved the VXR editions, appealing to our inner 18 year old; a car you can’t admit to wanting but are secretly a little jealous of that boyracer as he blasts past you.
Whether its well-used on the school run or has been thrashed to Southend on the weekends, the need for parts has come thick ‘n’ fast. Have FAI got the parts?... of-Corsa-we-have. Visit faiauto.com/ecat for more!
