The OM651 is a family of inline-four-cylinder Diesel engines introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 2008. The chief goal was to create a common engine design that maximised the parts commonality between the engines manufactured by parent company, Daimler.

One requirement of the design was the ability of the engine to be mounted both longitudinally or transversely. Improved fuel efficiency and compliance with Euro 5 emission standards were also design objectives, with Euro 6 standards being achieved by 2010.

Although all engines have the same 2,143 cc swept volume, engines with various power outputs are produced ranging from 120 ps (badged x180) through 170 ps (badged x220) to 204 ps (badged x250).

The 170 ps and 204 ps versions employ a twin-turbo charger with a small, high pressure turbo providing quick boost at low RPM and a large, lower pressure turbo providing increased performance at higher RPM. The 100kW lower output version has only a single turbocharger.

Another successful year in Frankfurt.

Automechanika 2024 saw the FAI team welcome a huge number of customers to the stand, including many from the UK. As always, we enjoyed the opportunity to greet loyal stockists and discuss our extensive portfolio with new prospects.

The five days saw our international sales team hold dozens of meetings a day on our 162 square meter stand, served countless coffees (and the occasional beer). As always, with all the excitement, the week went by in a flash. Thank you to all those that stopped for a chat.

308 II 2013-2021

The Peugeot 308 is proven to be a good alternative when compared to the Honda Civic and Ford Focus. The 2nd Generation 308 is a big improvement over the earlier version; particularly in design and quality.

The 308 won the 2014 European Car of the Year title, which proves there’s real substance to Peugeot’s hatch. As indicated by the classy looks and interior, the focus of the mainstream models is on good long-distance cruising comfort: low noise levels, a supple ride and good stability make the Peugeot a fuss-free choice in everyday use.

There’s a wide choice of engines in the 308 with an impressively efficient HDi diesels - the 1.6 BlueHDi emits just 82g/km of CO2 yet still develops 120PS. The new 1.2-litre THP petrol engine really stands out and despite its small size, the three cylinder engine gives strong performance with the top version producing 130PS yet with official economy of more than 60mpg.
