In older applications that do not have a self-adjusting hydraulic tappet / lifter, such as the 4D56, manual adjustment between the rocker arm and valve is a necessity. When rebuilding the rocker shaft, please adhere to the manufacturer clearance specifications. Step 1. With engine at operating temperature. Ensure timing marks are aligned correctly by rotating the crank manually. Step 2. When done correctly you will see that following valves in the raised position: Cylinder 1: Inlet & Exhaust Cylinder 2: Inlet Cylinder 3: Exhaust Adjust clearances according to these steps: Release tension on the rocker nut in preparation for the gauge. Place the correct feeler gauge between the valve and rocker (size specified by the manufacturer). Begin tightening the screw whilst ensuring that the feeler gauge is met but not pinched. Tighten nut to secure setting. Remove feeler gauge, then reinsert it to check there is a slight interference between the valve and the rocker arm. Step 3. Manually turn the crankshaft 360 degrees clockwise. Now repeat the method of step 2 whilst focusing on: Cylinder 4: Inlet & Exhaust Cylinder 2: Exhaust Cylinder 3: Intake Step 4. To ensure the correct clearances are set and maintained, please follow these steps: Replace rocker cover Run the engine for 10 minutes Remove rocker cover and check tolerances are still correct using the same gauge(s). Also fits Mini and Opel/Vauxhall Please see below for common faults which could affect the Timing Chain Kit’s ability to operate correctly. 1- Worn camshaft oil rings/seals- leads to poor oil supply to the VVT 2- Wear/damage to the camshaft and or VVT hub mating faces- leads to poor sealing and oil supply to the VVT 3- Air locks in the VVT system 4- Incorrect installation/timing setup- these engines have a very particular and complex setup procedure 5- Outdated ECU software- there are many known OE concerns with the chain and VVT operating tolerances for which they have updated ECU software 6- Failure to update engine adaptions 7- Other faults with the VVT solenoids or valve actuator 8- Existing dirt contamination within the oil system- migrates to the new VVT hub and can cause it to seize/stick 9- Oil pressure issues from worn oil pumps or internal wear- results in poor oil feed to tensioner and VVT 10- High oil consumption- leads to low oil levels in a short period of time and causes tensioner and VVT operational problems

Audi A1 2010-2018

The Audi A1 proved to be a successful venture for Audi, seemingly undeterred by the sketchy reputation of the A2. Fundamentally the same as other super-minis in the VW group, Audi knew that they had to set the A1 apart from the Polo, Ibiza and Fabia.

The formula of a well-built interior, neat styling and refinement coined the accolade of vehicle of the year in 2011. A long-standing model, the A1 became a common sight across Europe.

Although it has obvious limitations in luggage space, the multitude of options offered to customers meant that it was seen as anything from Granny’s car to Hot-Hatch. The latest tech was handed down from the brands pricier cars from the start of production, with tweaks along the way to align with face-lift versions.

Due to its popularity, sales were strong and so is Aftermarket demand – Plus component sharing throughout the VW Group means that many numbers are great to have in stock!
