A Night to Remember! Following on from a fantastic first half of 2018, having won multiple business achievements, the crown jewel of which has to be the Queens Award; FAI have commemorated the accolade with a night of celebrations and pomp. Woburn Abbey set the tone for a grand affaire, where the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire would present the Queens Royal Warrant to all FAI staff. As if we weren’t lucky enough to have one Royal representative, three deputies accompanied the Lord Lieutenant. Professor Sir Les Ebdon, a university lecturer in his early years before going on to a government position where he championed under privileged students. Nick Kier, a respected local businessman with over 30 years’ experience in the property market and Vinod Tailor, another pillar of the community and a credit to the business world.

It was then on to the formal ceremony and a rallying speech from Sean Walker – Managing Director.

To have the whole workforce in one place is a rarity, therefore FAI took the opportunity to give a company update which included the announcement of FAI’s commitment to charitable organisations. A round of applause rung out in the dining hall when directors informed the audience of a 60 thousand pounds gift being split between 4 charities; organisations whom work tirelessly to support families suffering loss and hardship.
Having had time to absorb the excitement of the event, Sean had this to say: “It was an honour to receive the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, who made all around her immediately feel at ease. I had the privilege of her company throughout dinner, where her knowledge of the business world, especially that of Bedfordshire’s rich network of companies made for fascinating conversation. The award ceremony was a proud moment, made evermore special by the whole workforce being in attendance; after all it’s a result of all our hard work. All this can only be achieved with the support of our loyal customer base, from which our success stems from.” – Sean Walker, Managing Director HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen Nellis said “I congratulate FAI Automotive on this outstanding achievement. It was clear at their Queen’s Award celebration party held at the glorious Sculpture Gallery, Woburn, that there is an enthusiastic and innovative culture within their loyal staff and a determination to build on this success”

»WSBK: » Misano - Italy Get Well Soon Chaz! When competing in the world of superbike racing you need to work hard and almost as importantly, play hard. The season break is upon us and Marco, Michael and Chaz are set for some well-earned down time. Unfortunately, Chaz took the word ‘break’ too literally and is now recovering from a broken collar bone; picked up whilst training. A small operation has fixed the complaint and now with a bit of physio, Chaz will have to work hard to get back to fighting-fit for round 10 in September.
Round 9, the last bout before leaving the championship for the summer, and with hopeful expectations from all riders to break on a good note, it proved to be an interesting weekend of racing. Misano, nestled in the province of Rimini, played host to proceedings, starting with the all-important superpole. Unfortunately, the boys didn’t ride as well as they’d hoped here, resulting in mixed positions over both races; which meant all three team members were on the back foot, knowing it was going to be an up-hill struggle. Saturday’s race saw Chaz Davies run a gauntlet of riders to immediately jump

to 4th before the first corner. He held strong, biding his time and when he saw the opportunity stole second where he stayed until the flag. Marco faced a difficult race having had technical issues that kept him from FP4. The Italian fought hard in the second group away from the leaders but despite his efforts had to settle for 7th place.

Michael Rinaldi struggled with the chosen tyres and eventually decided to make a pit stop, swapping them out for a better suited compound. The knock-on effect meant a finish in 17th.
After a memorable weekend featuring two podium positions the riders enter the interlude in good standing, with Chaz firmly in 2nd, Marco 5th and Michael holding his own in 14th.

»Vehicle » of the Month Citroen C4 Picasso II You log on to Autotrader thinking about your next car; mmm…Power, handling and pinched leather-clad sports seats. Maybe even insure it for a few track days!?! Then reality bites as you remember you’ve got to have somewhere for the kids to sit and your holiday this year is camping in the south of France. It’s at this point that you amend your search criteria from 3 to 5 door, 50+ MPG and key words to include sat-nav. The usual suspects then raise their heads and amongst a plethora of MPVs and people carriers you’ll stumble across the Citroen C4 Picasso II. Out of a sea of ‘meh’ vehicles this one raises its head and for good reason, it’s great value and the interior looks sooo much more upmarket that the previous generation.
Whilst you may have to look past the rather unimaginative styling and use your head rather than your heart to take the leap and buy one, the figures such as 70 mpg speak for themselves; if you opt for the 1.6 diesel that is. Often seen trolling down the motorway, loaded to bursting point, sporting a roof box adding insult to injury, owners have punished these family focused cars. Introduced in 2013, the pressure put on the small engines that pull them along, however economical, has resulted in big business for the aftermarket. Q.
Why does the replacement oil pump sound noisy just after installation? The main culprit for a newly installed oil pump that can be heard above the engine rumble is usually down to the lack of pre-lubrication. This step in the installation process is vital to assist with the first start and the bedding in process. With the oil settled at the bottom end of the engine, it takes a few moments to reach the internals of the pump and albeit a small period of time this can cause damage, leading to premature failure.

Q. How many piston rings do I need to order for a 4 cylinder? Our piston ring sets are supplied with lower, middle and upper rings to fit a single piston therefore you need to order the amount equalling that of the cylinders; in this case 4.
Q. How many Engine bearings do I need for my engine? Engine bearing sets are specific to a single application and therefore contains all that is needed for a repair, whether it’s big end or a main bearing set.
Q. What’s the difference between WR125M and WR125CM? Although the application data appears to be the same, there is a significant difference between the WR125M and the ‘CM’ variant. FAI window regulator part numbers containing a ‘C’ denotes that it’s specifically for vehicles spec’d with comfort motor. The connector simply won’t fit on the non-comfort motor type, having a 6-pin fixing vs. the standard 2-pin.
Q. What is a comfort motor and how do I identify which one I need? Vehicles fitted with a comfort motor have a safety measure built in that allows the mechanism to detect resistance when in operation and therefore cutting out before trapping fingers etc. To identify the correct version firstly check if the door is stripped back for a visual inspection of the pins. If not, then a tell-tail sign is if the driver’s window button reads ‘Auto’ as this is only visible with comfort applications. Alternatively, we may be able to pin-point the fitment via our OE software guides, just give us a call with a registration.

When you have a recipe for success, there really is no point of throwing anything else in to the mix to spoil things. It’s for this reason that Mitsubishi mated only the 2.5 Di-D to one of the most well-known light commercial vehicles; the L200. Despite the extremely limited engine choice, the multi award winning L200 options list has been tweaked to accommodate the needs of it’s target audience; the double-cab version being case and point. Owners sling the tools in to the spacious load area during the week, replaced with the pushchair on the weekends. It’s then just time to load up the screaming delightful kids in to the handy rear seats. The 4D56-HP engine is more than up to the job, full of torque when pulling load and pushing out a very usable 175 HP, it keeps up on the motorway too.
