The latest Unmatched set arrives with a magical flourish. It’s the greatest escape artist who ever lived against the legend of the lamp. Unmatched: Houdini vs. The Genie is officially here, offering all new mechanics and wrapped up in he gorgeous package you’ve come to expect.

First launched in 2019, Unmatched is the game of card-driven skirmishes between heroes of film, literature, legend, and history. Each set offers custom decks designed to emulate the unique heroes they represent The ability to mix and match heroes from any set, means the combinations are endless: Daredevil vs. Medusa is just he beginning!

The latest set features Harry Houdini against the Genie of the Lamp. Houdini includes a brand-new mechanic, the “boost bonus.” Some of his cards indude an effect that triggers when they are used to boost (discarded to augment movement or another card) - and many of his cards can be boosted. Additionally, his special ability lets him disappear and reappear anywhere on the board when you boost his movement. Lots of card tricks and slippery play that you’d expect from a master magician make him a powerful fighter.

But when it comes to power, none can match the legendary Genie of the Lamp. He can draw tons of cards, throw out potent attacks, and even gain extra actions. In many ways, his greatest weakness is his seemingly unlimited power. If he’s not careful, he can burn himself out, leaving himsellf open to a lethal counterattack.

Unmatched: Houdini vs. The Genie features art by the award-winning Peter Diamond, whose work has graced the pages of GQ, Wired, and the New York Times. The battlefield, “King Solomon’s Mines” is illustrated by Brian Patterson. Houdini and The Genie are designed by Sam Crane and AdiI Geresu, two of the finalists from the Unmatched deck design contest Restoration Games ran in 2020. With an eyecatching cover, two intriguing heroes, and some clever new game play, Houdini vs. The Genie is a must-have addition to your Unmatched shelf.
