The Next Chapter On the Waters
He LL o ocean lovers, and welcome to the second issue of Bahrain’s first marine lifestyle magazine. o nce again, we bring you in-depth coverage of anything and everything to do with yachting, boating and fishing in the Kingdom. This month, we have three stunning yachts featured, the cover feature being the superb Zeelander Z44, a beautiful craft that combines classic styling and modern luxury to create something truly special. Also featured is the Ferretti 650 flybridge from Ferretti Yachts, supplied in Bahrain by ART Marine, as well as the Riva 68’ e go Super sports cruiser, a yacht built on the success of the 68’ e go.
And while we enjoy our leisure trips to sea, it can be easy to forget those who are constantly working to make sure we’re safe and sound whilst doing so. So, this month we also spotlight Bahrain’s excellent Coast Guard service, and look into the history of the organisation right back to the days of its founding.
For those of you looking farther afield for your nautical adventures, we’ve included a feature on the spectacular Adriatic coastline of Croatia, where coastal cruises are fast becoming a massive industry in the everflourishing e uropean country.
And as usual, we take a look at the stunning sea life of Bahrain, this month through the interesting work of Reef Arabia, who are boosting the kingdom’s ocean wildlife with their sophisticated artificial reefs. Anyone who enjoys fishing in the kingdom should appreciate the work they are doing. If, like us, you often forget just how stunning the Kingdom’s coastline is, and how much we use our surrounding waters for having fun as well as for trade purposes, Bahrain-based photographer Andrew Weaver is reminding us all of the diverse beauty around the island. We talk to the man behind the camera about his new book Above Two Seas.
For all you fishing fans who love to cook their own catch, we went to some of Bahrain’s most popular restaurant kitchens to get some unique and delicious recipes from outstanding chefs. Now you can cook the perfect King Fish after a day out at sea. Check out our feature on Big Boys Toys for all the awesome water gadgets and toys on offer at this year’s event (trust us, marine leisure products don’t get any more exciting than this!).
We hope you enjoy!

A special thanks to: one such example is this, the beautifully proportioned Z44. The result of years of dedication, collaboration and refinement, the Z44 offers excellent ease of operation and functionality. Carefully designed to heighten every onboard experience, the Z44 provides every passenger with a 360-degree panoramic view by virtue of the comfortable raised seating areas. The carefully conceived cockpit affords excellent visibility with the added luxury of an oversized sunroof that can instantly convert the wheelhouse into an alfresco entertainment area. This adds to the overall enjoyment of being in command of a Z44.
The aesthetic beauty and classic lines of Zeelander yachts make them stand out in a marina. This is why they are hugely attractive to those who want to stand out as an individual!

As yachts become ever more modern, with cold colours, angular lines and futuristic design, it’s refreshing to see a manufacturer going in the opposite direction.
We’ve seen it with brands like Riva in Italy, whose beautiful, classically-designed wooden speedboats can be seen ferrying the rich and famous across Lake Como when the weather is fine.
And here we can see it with Zeelander, who add a touch of elegance to their vessels with curved, flowing lines and natural materials to give them a much more classic aesthetic.
True Craftsmanship
The gleaming hull accentuates the curved and classic lines and is the result of hundreds of hours of personal attention from the skilled Zeelander craftsmen. every surface is covered in high gloss metallic paint with the super structure in a starburst white metallic paint that gives the Z44 a finish no other manufacturer is utilising. each Zeelander hull receives seven individual layers of paint and lacquer, with hand finishing between each layer by craftsmen using long-boards. The process involves a clever blend of automotive and aeronautic products to resist abrasion and ultra-violet damage.
The decks are covered in esthec brand decking for a long-lasting and maintenance free, teak deck look. every teak plank is personally selected and hand-laid on the decks before being vacuumbedded in the deliberate single-length Zeelander style, emphasising the perfect curves and sheer of the Z44 hull and superstructure.

Beauty on the Inside
The interior of the Z44 is the perfect balance of fit and finish with a very user-friendly appeal. entering the wheelhouse, one is surrounded by rich solid woods, glove stitched leather and book matched veneers. Supple leather seating surrounds the immense entertaining table and a custom captain’s chair serves both the dashboard and the end of the table by swiveling 180 degrees. All electronic and navigation equipment has been easily placed within arm’s reach. The comfortable raised seating allows for a full 360degree view and allows a panoramic view of the beautiful surroundings. each piece of furniture is individually crafted before being fitted into the yacht. It is then removed and veneered, before going to environmental paint shops for the final application of lacquer, showcasing the beauty of the wood. All in all, the interior of the Z44 is a masterful use of space with characteristic levels of finish.

Above the helm is an oversized sunroof which instantly converts the wheelhouse into an alfresco entertaining area inviting in the natural elements to complete the experience.

Down below, accent lighting beneath the furniture accentuates the beautiful raw teak flooring, making it a work of art rather than a walkway throughout the interior.
Book matched veneer cabinetry and solid wood accents surround the room, and glove stitched leather and the finest fabrics adorn the walls and further tie in the custom interior fabrics designed specifically for each vessel. Stainless hardware and accent pieces finish off the admirable look of this breathtaking interior space.
Just as with the exterior, the custom option allows owners to entirely customise their Zeelander interior finishes to their own tastes. Zeelander works with multiple interior designers to offer personalised finishes to meet the individual requirements and style.
The Z44 is the new benchmark in style and luxury to give every owner an unrivalled yachting experience.
