What is the best part of your job?

Building relationships has always been the most rewarding part of owning S&K. We have built a family here, carried each other through so many seasons of life and you cannot get that just anywhere; a big reason why shopping and supporting local matters. We take time to create personal relationships and curate one of a kind experiences that are unmatched.

Is there an achievement or contribution that you’re most proud of?

S&K Boutique shopsandk

Speed Round Picks

Vintage or Modern Cocktail or Mocktail

Sunny Day Out or Rainy Day In Oatmeal Raisin or Chocolate Chip Book or Podcast

Give us some of your favorite local charities to support.

No favorites here, we love them all and have provided yearly support to Pensacola Opera, Habitat for Humanity, Covenant Care, Brentwood Elementary, Project Grad Bash, 4EverDez, Gulf Coast Sexual Assault Program, Grandgiving, Impact 100, and more.

What’s the bene t of shopping local?

When a dollar is spent locally, it creates a “local multiplier efect” that causes the money to recirculate within the community, generating more economic activity than money spent at a non-local business, on average six to seven times. In a world where convenience is most often utilized take some time to slow down and enjoy local shopping and supporting small businesses.

No one achievement or contribution means more than the other, they all make me so very proud. Being able to contribute back to our community year after year is an achievement in itself and one that we have worked toward since day one. We all have something to give and our local community deserves to know how much we are invested in their forward progress and success as well.

How has opening S&K Boutique changed you?

It has educated me enough to have learned more about our community needs and showing up for them. Not being from Pensacola, I have worked extremely hard to be proactive in staying involved in our community to see how our business could help serve others. Sometimes needs can be met in the form of sweat equity, other times it is in the form of fnancial support; and we are happy to do both when we are able.

What advice do you have for someone interested in openning a shop?

Find a boutique business owner who is as passionate as you believe you are in the industry and consult with them. Fashion and business ownership is an industry unlike any other as well as an investment. Look beyond the what you think is “fun” part, which is what you normally see from the outside looking in. There is an entirely diferent side of the industry that you need to know and educate yourself about before you make a decision to execute.
