ADDING A NEW WEB PAGE

To add a new page: mi content  mi pages To add a new page, navigate to the web page management facility and click the [Add Page] link in the page header, as highlighted below:

There are two phases for adding a web page…

CHOOSING THE PAGE SETTINGS You will be prompted to enter some information about the page you wish to create.

SETTING THE MENU LINK

The menu link should clearly indicate the page topic in one, or a few words.

It is primarily used in your navigation menu to direct website visitors to the correct web page. It is also used in the horizontal “You are here:” bar which appears above your page content.

The example navigation menu has the following links, clearly indicating the nature of the pages.  

SETTING THE FILENAME The filename is used to create the page URL and where possible should reflect the topic of the page. It can contain one or more words but cannot contain blank spaces.

The example illustrates a URL for a page on website www.miportfolio.co.uk with filename services.

SUGGEST FILENAME If you are not sure what filename to use, press the [suggest] link which will generate a suitable filename based on the menu link.

CLEAN FILENAME On some occassions, you may find that a warning message “The filename is in use or invalid” appears when you enter a filename. To fix this, press the [clean] link.

SETTING THE PARENT PAGE

This is used to help provide logical navigation and structure to your website.

This is illustrated by the screen shot to the left, showing the Services page with three sub pages:   

If you wanted to add another page to sit under services, you would simply choose services as the Parent page.

If you wanted to add a sub page to sit under Portrait Portfolio, you would set Portrait Portfolio as the parent page.

COPYING CONTENT FROM AN EXISTING PAGE When creating a new page, you can copy the contents from an existing page. This is useful if your new page is similar to one you have already created.

To achieve this, simply select the page you wish to copy from the drop down list.

Then press the next button.
