This will be measured by having the CFK participate in annual events (ie: Spring Conference, Annual Conference, CCP, region socials)

This is related to AFC's values and goals including and not limited to the specific goal of the AFC President.

The connection has been achieved and we are in talks about creating an E-Board at CFK. This is supported by all of the Chapter Presidents.

This will be measured by new institutional members joining and participating in AFC events. This will be showcased by each institution.

The resources needed for this is for each Chapter President to work with institutional membership chairs to run a membership campaign.

This is related to AFC's values and goals as membership is a key component for the foundation of the organization.

Broward College Professor Rodriguez graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology. He has a Master's degree in Biological Oceanography and an Ed.D. from the University of Florida (UF), in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education. Dr.

Rodriguez has been teaching for over twenty five years at Broward College and has many awards including the Professor of the year to the distinguished Motorola Corporation Endowed Teaching Chair, and 2017 AFC Professor of the Year. Among his many accomplishments, Professor Rodriguez has been accredited with saving the Plain Pigeon (Columbo inornata} of Puerto Rico from extinction.

Taylor Kilman is an Assistant Professor of mathematics at Indian River State College. He joined the college in January 2016, after completing his doctorate at the University of Southern Mississippi the previous summer. Since arriving at IRSC, he has taught a wide array of mathematics courses and has been greatly involved with other campus activities and organizations, such as Delta Mu Epsilon, AFC, and AAUP. In 2018, he was awarded the J". Douglas Stephens Endowed Teaching Chair in Technology for his work on open educational resources in the mathematics classroom; in 2021 he was awarded the Instructional Innovation Award for t he same contributions.

Dade College In 19S9 I accepted a position as a part-time lab instructor and adjunc t faculty ' in the College Prep department at ~he Wolfson ':ampus of MDC. In July of 1999, I was hired as a full-time lab c oordinator an~ an adjunct professor at the North Campus in the College Pr~p Reading and Writing department, now known as Developmental Educ ation dep'.3rtment (Dev Ed .) and c urrently apart Learning Resources and the English and Communications department. I earne d my Bachelor • f Sciences in Early Childhood Education from Florida Inte rnational University, a College Credit Certifica te in Funeral Service Education from Miami Dade College, a c e r t ified content area certificate from the American College of Education, and a master's in Educational Leaders hip from Concordia U niversity. Since joining the Florida Association of Community Co lleges (FACC), now known as the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC), I have been an active member of the association . Palm Beach State College J'oan Roberts has been at Palm Beach State College since 2010 and worked on two of the College's health science grants as an advisor, also previously served as Chapter Secretary and data analyst before joining Institutional Research and Effectiveness (IRE) as a Senior Research Analyst. She currently provides broad support for the IRE department including work on research, data, assessment, strategic planning, and accreditation. Her experience prior to Palm Beach State College includes various positions with government, health and insurance organizations in New York and Pennsylvania. J'oan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wha rton School of Business and an MBA from Duke University. She is current ly participating in AFC's Certified Co!leg;; Professional (CCP) program.

Activities: - AFC BC Chapter supported the BC Cares activity on March 20, 2021 to pack bags of essential supplies to distribute to those in need in our community. We will also participate in the upcoming BC Cares activity to pack 2000 bags on April 17, 2021. AFC BC Chapter are looking forward to future activity with our Center for Teaching Excellences and Learning. AFC BC Chapter had our first social on March 31, and we have an upcoming social on May 19, 2021.

Fundraisers: AFC BC Chapter is working to have our upcoming digital postcard fundraiser in a few weeks.

Conferences:

AFC BC Chapter attended the 71st Virtual Annual Conference in November and the Leadership conference in January. Members will be attending the Region V Spring Conference on 4/15/21

We had our first executive board meetings on March 16, 2021. we have an upcoming meeting on April 15, 2021.

Activities: January 29 • Held monthly social event at the Square Grouper Tiki Bar. The weather was great, water was beautiful, and company was better. February 16 - Held monthly social event - Lunchtime Bingo. Held Annual Valentine's Day Carnations sale. Sold nearly 5,000 carnations! March 11: Held monthly social event - Lunchtime hike at George Lestrange Preserve. We had a great turnout and hiked around the preserve for an hour.

Fundraisers: The Mask for the River Committee of 20 made over 700 masks and raised over $3,500 for student scholarships. February 19: Held Jeans and Jersey Day fundraiser for student scholarships. Members will be attending the Region V Spring Conference on 4/15/21

February 18: Held monthly Chapter meeting and professional development activity. A representative from IRSC Marketing, Media, and Brand (formerly Institutional Advancement) presented about the new marketing strategy of the college and how employees can participate in this plan.

Region Director Duties Th e major responsibilities are to present the region on the Association's Boord of Directors; communicate actions and deliberations of the Board of Directors to the chapters within their regions through re gional m eetings and /or other means within three weeks following the date of each board meeting; organize and supervise re gional confere nces and workshops; coordinate arrangements for and publicize professional activities within the region; conduct an annual evaluation of region activities fol/owing prescribed guidelines; follow established Board policies for the disbursement of Region funds; prepare a written annual report of the region which shall be submitted to the Association's Award committee for judging in the Region of the Year competition.

Newsletters A region Newsletter should be published at least quarterly. The newsletter may be transmitted in an email format to each chapter president for distribution at their chapter. A copy should also be sent via email to publications@myafchome.org and to the current Chief Operating Officer. The newsletter can also double as the Directors written board report. The newsletter should include, but not limited to: Chapter activities as submitted by chapter presidents, region activities and news, and state information i.e ., conference and workshop information, membership drive information and service opportunities. 3. The Region Director and Chapter Presidents should p1ek a date for the next Region V Conference and have 1t posted to the AFC website calendar. The Director may choose to appoint a committee to help with conference preparations. The Diredor may choose to ask other chapters for assistance as needed. The Region Director and Chapter Presidents shall agree on o registration fee that will be charged to pay for all onference expenses. Any profits from the conference will be put into the Region V Account. Accurate records and c ceipts will be kept and forwarded to EJohnson@myofchome.org. Each chapter will bring three or more door prizes to ~~e conference. Professional development opportunities must be part of the agenda. There should also be o legislative ond AFC component.

Region VMeeting at Annual Conference It is the Director's responsibility to facilitate the region meeting at the annual AFC conference to include the following:

1. An agenda of all items to be covered at the meeting 2. Acknowledgement of the Chapter Presidents, also known as the Lifesaver Awards (plaque, certificate, gift, etc.).

3. Acknowledgement of Region Lifesaver Award(s) at the discretion of the Director (Plaque, certificate, gift, etc.). 4. Acknowledgement of one Unsung Hero for each chapter (Plaque, certificate, gift, etc.) at their discretion.

5. Acknowledgement of one Region Unsung Hero at the discretion of the Director (plaque, certificate, gift, etc). 6. Financial report for the year.

7. Nomination and voting for the Director-Electl 8. Facilitate reports from each Chapter President summarizing the year's activities and expectations for the coming year.

9. Conduct any outstanding region business. 10. Closing comments by the incoming Director (Currently Director-Elect) 11. Allot time for candidates for state officers to address the region members.

Chapter of the Year Competition Each college is encouraged to submit a chapter book entry for the Chapter of the Year competition. The chapter books should be created and sent directly to the Awards Committee Chairperson. All chapter books should follow the criteria and deadline established by the AFC's Awards Committee. Chapter books are judged by the awards committee and every college will receive acknowledgement for their efforts.

Region of the Year Competition The Director is encouraged to submit a Reg ion book entry for the Region of the Year competition. The Region book should be created within the criteria and by the deadline established by AFC's Award Committee and published in the Leadership Manual.

Any profits fro m the conference will be put into the Region V Account. Accurate re cord s a nd receipts will be kept and forwarded to EJohnson@ myafchome .org . Each chapter will bring three or more door prizes to the conference. Profe ssional development opportunities must be part of the agenda. There should also be a legislative and AFC component.

Region V Meeting at Annual Conference It is the Director's responsibility to facil itate the region meeting at the annual AFC conference to include the following:

1. An agenda of all items to be covered at the meeting

2. Acknowledgement of the Chapter Presidents, also known as the Lifesaver Awards (plaque, certificate, gift, etc.). 3. Acknowledgement of Region Lifesaver Award(s) at the discretion of the Director (Plaque, certificate, gift, etc.).

4. Acknowledgement of one Unsung Hero for each chapter (Plaque, certificate, gift, etc.) at their discretion. 5. Acknowledgement of one Region Unsung Hero at the discretion of the Director (plaque, certificate, gift, etc).

6. Financial report for the year. 7. Nomination and voting for the Director-Electl

8. Facilitate reports from each Chapter President summarizing the year's activities and expectations for the coming year.

9. Conduct any outstanding region business. 10. Closing comments by the incoming Director (Currently Director-Elect) 11. Allot time for candidates for state officers to address the region members. Chapter of the Year Competition Each colle ge is encouraged to submit a chapter book entry for the Chapter of the Year competition. The chapter books should be created and sent d irectly to the Awards Committee Chairperson. All chapter books should follow the criteria and deadline e stablished by the AFC's Awards Committee. Chapter books are judged by the awards committee and every college will receive acknowledgement for thei r efforts. Region of the Year Competition The Director is e ncouraged to submit a Region book entry for the Regio n of the Year competition . The Region book should be created within the criteria and by the deadline establi shed by AFC's Award Co mmittee and published in the Leade rship Manual.

~ A. Goals and Obiectives

The Director is responsib!e for rep orting all goals and objectives from their region (region and chapters) to the Chair of the Planning and D evelopm ent Committee by or before the annual AFC Leadership/ Legislative Conference .

e. Chapters The Director should nurture struggling chapters with support and idea s.

c. Board of Director's Meeting The number of meetings of the board of Directors is determined at the beginning of the calendar year, usually three per year. The AFC president designates the dates and sites for said meetings. When matters require action prior to the next meeting of the Board of Directors, the President (or designee) may poll members of the Board via email, survey, conference call or other medium. The Director, Director-Elect, or their designee should attend each meeting. The Director should bring detailed written report and send the email copy of the report to the Tallahassee office to be distributed by email to all members of the board of region activities since the last meeting. The Director will also g ive a brief verbal report highlighting the region's activities.

D. AFC Workshops and Conferences The Director should attend all state held AFC workshops, conferences, including : Leadership/Legislative Conference, Membership Development Conference, and the AFC Annual Conference.

E. Chapter President's Meeting The director should schedule a minimum of four meetings of the chapter presidents each year. While the dates of the meetings are flexible, the meetings should be held prior to or if possible, in conjunction with the following: 1st Meeting - Leadership/Legislative Conference/Region Conference Planning 2nd Meeting- Region Conference 3rd Meeting - Membership Development Conference 4th Meeting - Annual Conference/Chapter of the Year Competition

In the hopes ofsoliciting more participation in the awards program, the report has been streamlined.
