FAB HQ MENU

LETTER FROM THE COO Dear Teammates, Once again, another year has passed. I hope that your holidays were very fruitful and that you received your much needed rest. Furthermore, I pray that you were able to spend more time with your family. Family is very important in all aspects of life. It can also come in many shapes and forms. The word “Family” has its roots from the latin word famululus, which comes close to our term “household” or in Tagalog, “Kasambahay”. Family is not only reserved for people with blood relations but those within your household and by extension, the company as well. I want you to see that Fabtech Group of Companies is one big family. To that end, we have established in 2019, FABplay, wherein employed parents can bring their kids aged 2 to 5.

In FABplay we not only aim to provide parents an easy access to good child services, but also to properly educate the next generation. This not only guarantees that our current family is being taken care of, but also that the next generation of families will be as well. This idea that Fabtech is a big family is not amiss to out clients. Companies like Bitzer, Ikea and Huawei, which are huge global multinational companies, have chosen only us to work with in the Philippines because they saw our commitment to this principle. To that end, let us never forget that we are one big family. Treat each other with respect and humility. Treat your clients as if they are your children that you want to see grow to their potential. Treat your environment as if it is your one and only home to pass on to the next generation. We are family. Thank You Nicholai David Go Chief Operating Officer 3

COOKIES WORKSHOP

In partnership with Auro Chocolates, we had our first cookie workshop for kids! It started with an interactive presentation of the history of Chocolates here in the Philippines, and where it comes from. The children drew cacao pods to show their understanding about the fruit. The main activity which was baking chocolate chip cookies was a very successful and engaging parent and child activity. 31

GELATENEO Presented by both the Fabtech International family as well as our partners from Ice Team 1927, the goal for this GelAteneo workshop was to focus on new and exciting flavors local to the Philippines. We believe that there is a wealth of flavors that exist in our culture and we so we uncovered those ideas and traditions.

32

The intensive course covered the following: understanding and sourcing ingredients, designing showcases, operations and making gelato uniquely theirs. It was led by Chef Giacomo Schiavon who is an undeniably stellar and distinguished gelato-maker. He has multiple awards under his belt, including the Passion Award, and his parlor La Sorbetteria has now become an empire of gourmet and a temple of pleasure.

GELATENEO KIDS Though making gelato can be very technical, Gruppo Dolci believes that it is never too early to start learning the skill - and enjoy the fun! The workshop started with some animations about the history of gelato and the differences of gelato and ice cream

DEMOS

They also did a commissary tour. The children enjoyed making two different kinds of gelato and had the chance to decorate them. Overall, it was a great learning experience for the children that joined as they were also able to experience working and selling to their families in FAB-HQ, and apply different subject areas including math, science, and socials, home economics.

TOP 10 WAYS TO CELEBRATE SHABBAT As employees, we always look forward to Friday as the day marks our much awaited break from our daily work routines and take our much needed rest. But there is more to it than we know. Friday sunset is more profound than most of us knew. As the sunsets on a Friday, it marks the beginning of a very important celebration practiced by our Jewish brothers and sisters as the 4th commandment of G-d: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”. The celebrated say starts at Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. Here are some ways to celebrate Shabbat, may you be Jewish… or not.

56

FABTECH EMPLOYEE MAGAZINE ISSUE 3

WAYS TO CELEBRATE SHABBAT

REST. There is no better way to celebrate Shabbat than to just rest. Do not think of anything workrelated. Let Monday wait. Set up a tea day where you just read a book or listen to music or meditate or fast. Set the day to relax and feel your being.

FAMILY DINNER Set a peaceful family dinner. A chance for your family to get together in one table sharing a simple meal. Reconnect with your loved ones. Do healthy exercises like sharing your best miracle story of the week. Something beautiful to talk about with the people closest to you.

READ BOOKS. With your kids. Or loved ones. Books that are related to religious well-being. If you are not religious, then self-help books will suffice. Anything that can expose you to learning about yourself and how you can better take care of yourself and your family.

DETOXIFY Turn your mobile phone off. Or at least put it somewhere you can’t reach it. Silent Mode. There is nothing more relaxing than distancing yourself from technology you hold most days.

LOG OUT FROM SOCIAL MEDIA The world is full of noise amplified by social media. There is too much going on in the world that we forget to mind our own wellbeing. Information is overwhelming. One of the best things to do for a 25-hour rest is to free yourself from all the drama going on in the cyber web.

BOOK A NATURE WALK After all the stress you get during your work week, you deserve to breathe some fresh air and just enjoy G-d’s creations in nature. A peaceful climb in the mountains or a calming day at the beach can do the trick.

CHECK ON YOUR LOVED ONES Being an employee can sometimes mean being away from family. Shabbat is the best day to reach out to your loved ones. Give your mother, father, siblings or friends a call. Check on them. Re-connect with them. Give them updates on things you were up to. Share some feel-good stories that can fuel them for the week ahead.

PRAY Weekdays may seem like daily wars but there is always something to celebrate and be thankful for. A day dedicated to prayer don’t only help you calm your body. It can also fuel your mind and soul to take on the challenges for weeks ahead. A day to reconnect with our creator. A day to contemplate and give praise.

These are just some ideas on how we can celebrate Shabbat in simplest ways. Please feel free to share your ideas! 57

13 WAYS TO SHOW YOUR BOSS YOU’RE READY FOR THE BIG PROMOTION

IF YOU’VE BEEN AT THE SAME JOB FOR SOME TIME, it’s all too easy to just assume that a promotion will come along every year, like a bonus for time served. But you have to do more than log hours to make it to the next level. More responsibility means actively showing (and sometimes telling) your boss that you’re ready to take on a new role.

To show you just how it’s done, 13 entrepreneurs from Young Entrepreneur Council weighed in with tips on getting promoted, based on their own employees they’ve seen rise through the ranks.

1. MAKE YOUR BOSS

2. ATTRACT AND MANAGE

3. OWN PROJECTS FROM

It’s ironic, but the best way to get promoted is to make your boss’ job easier. And the best way to do that is to make his or her job obsolete. You’re not really putting your manager out of a job—you’re allowing him or her to trust your work. In turn, he or she can focus on new areas that the higher-ups have needed to address for some time. Strong work goes up the chain, improves the company, and gets you noticed.

At a fast-growing company, hiring quality people quickly is one of the most important goals. That’s why I place great value on people who can bring in additional talent through their existing networks, convince that talent to join our company, and cultivate those individuals into productive team members. Showing that you can build and manage a profitable team is a clear path to promotion.

Organizations place a premium on individuals who follow through on tasks. If you can prove that you can consistently own projects from start to finish, you will not only get promoted, but you’ll also make yourself indispensable.

OBSOLETE

GREAT TALENT

START TO FINISH

—Kyle Wong, Pixlee

—Sathvik Tantry, FormSwift

—Ankur Gopal, Interapt

4. SUMMARIZE WORK VISUALLY

5. KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE

When talking about your work, give us something to look at. When you answer the question, ‘Why are people buying?’ show a chart of the top responses as well as how many people gave each response. It makes everyone a believer when we can see a quick visual snapshot that backs up what you’re saying.

The people who typically get promoted keep their cool under stress. They also act as a role model to everyone around them. They meet deadlines and ask relevant, intelligent questions that help clients be happier with our services. When an issue arises, they want to solve it and work to avoid future problems by learning from their mistakes.

—Adam Grant, Campus Commandos 58

—Nicole Munoz, Start Ranking Now

FABTECH EMPLOYEE MAGAZINE ISSUE 3

6. MAKE YOUR BOSS AWARE YOU WANT THE PROMOTION

It seems quite simple, but expressing your desire for a particular promotion is very helpful. Sometimes management may not know you want it, or has not thought of you as a candidate, especially if it’s outside of your current department. Often management will tell you what you need to do to get the position if they know you want it. Be humble, inquisitive, passionate, and hungry.

7. SHOW PRIDE IN YOUR WORK Competence, diligence, intelligence, loyalty— these all matter, but what matters most is the inherent will to do the best work possible. The work is what matters, and employees who take it personally, who own their work as a reflection of their values and take pride in doing good work, are the employees I trust with positions of responsibility. —Vik Patel, Future Hosting

—Joshua Waldron, Silencerco, LLC

8. AVOID OFFICE POLITICS AND GOSSIP

9. MAKE MONEY

The qualities we considered most were those that demonstrate integrity and trustworthiness—which we measured by looking at who chose not to participate in office politics and gossip. While it’s important to understand the balance of office politics, individuals who are able to rise above the temptations stand out most as those I think would be the fairest to others in management roles.

If someone is making money, they’ll be promoted. Making money is the ultimate internal currency. All other internal performance metrics can be translated into the money-making metric. And yes, saving money is making money, too. Anyone who understands enough of the business ROI levers to structure and ask for more resources or a different title will probably get it and keep moving up each time the argument is made.

10. RAISE OTHER TEAM MEMBERS’

11. DISPLAY COMMITMENT

—Souny West, CHiC Capital

PERFORMANCE

I look for people who are completing their assignments and asking what that next task is going to be. They help their colleagues instead of stepping on them in their climb up the ladder. I love to promote people on my team who raise the performance of everybody around them.

—Ross Resnick, Roaming Hunger

When people are really committed, you can tell by the quality of their work, the effort they put in, and the relationships they develop. When employees show commitment, we notice and try to reward them with deserved promotions. —Alfredo Atanacio, Uassist.ME

—Joshua Lee, StandOut Authority

12. BE EXCEPTIONAL

13. DEMONSTRATE THAT YOU CAN SOLVE

I want to promote from within, but it’s important that clients and co-workers see the justification. I need team members to make a significant impact on their clients—who really wow them. If they don’t have a client-facing position, they should be the go-to person for their colleagues.

When people are really committed, you can tell by the quality of their work, the effort they put in, and the relationships they develop. When employees show commitment, we notice and try to reward them with deserved promotions.

SHARED SERVICES SERVICE COMPANY NATIONWIDE

PLANTA 4.0 ALIGNED WITH ALL OF OUR OTHER EFFORTS TO DIGITALIZE OUR OPERATIONS, we are planning to bring our fabrication process up to speed by implementing Industry 4.0

Industry 4.0 is the the subset of the fourth industrial revolution that means that factories have machines which are augmented with wireless connectivity and sensors, connected to a system that can visualize the entire production line and make decisions on its own. This is exactly what we are planning for our fabrication plant in Laguna, Calamba.

70

We will be integrating our fab tech integrated database system with how we manufacture. We will be equipping each station in the factory with an iPad wherein they will barcode scan all of their activities. Therefore, each cost will be data logged, which will dramatically decrease mistakes and increase accountability. We aim to complete this by 2020.

SERVICE COMPANY We will be setting up a separate company that will solely be responsible for services such as preventive and reactive service

Fabtech is setting up a separate service company so that we can license international brands such as Rational to be the official service provider in the Philippines, similar to what we did for Bitzer Green Point. This will provide us not only a bigger advantage over our competitors but also provide us more room to grow our own employees. Expect this change in quarter 1 of 2020
