HR Policies Updates Stay up to date with our new policies.

Fabtech Group of Companies

Letter from the COO Dear Teammates, I am happy to announce that the beginning of 2019 has been fruitful in terms of projects. We have been able to on-board projects such as Solaire, Kingsford, Novotel Aqua, Huawei, and many more. I believe that these clients have realized that short term compromises hinders real growth. They want to now look for suppliers that they can partner up with and who can provide them quality for the long run. This is why they chose and will continue to choose Fabtech. Let’s continue being the light in our industry.

Nicholai David Go Chief Operating Officer

We have to not only maintain our quality of service but to continuously keep improving. This ultimately comes from our own team members. Each member of Fabtech contributes to our brand of great service. Therefore, we have invested in building FAB-HQ, which is our newest venue that will act as a catalyst of new innovation and ideas. It also serves as a hotel-level canteen for our own team members. It is proof of our commitment to grow and feed our own employees. Our founder Wilson Go has always said “we cannot think the same, if we do not eat the same.” Fabtech has also added another company to its roster: Green Point Refrigeration Incorporated. It is the Bitzer accredited service provider in the Philippines. We are at the halfway point for 2019. There’s still a lot to do. Let’s make the most out of this year.

Appreciation Day January 9, 2019

As always, at the beginning of each year, we celebrate the birthday of our founder Wilson Go. This year, we decided to celebrate it in a different way, by lowering our carbon footprint. We hosted it in Calamba, Laguna where each department was able to plant their own cacao tree. We then had a talent show and a boodle fight to top it all off. It was a day full of joy and laughter. Being surrounded by nature, friends, and family, this simple celebration was a reminder of God’s blessings and our responsibility. We have been tasked to become stewards of this earth. Therefore, we are responsible for taking care of the one earth that we live on.

New Fabtech Standard Line We are launching our Standard Line of static kitchen equipment this year. We have designed it in such a way that we can use the same parts for multiple items decreasing our stocking and production costs. Since it is standard, we also decrease design costs. Overall, the new Standard Line will be much cheaper than our traditional custom fabricated items with the same level of quality. This will make us much more competitive in the market.

22

Fabtech Group of Companies

Our Standard

304 STAINLESS STEEL

HACCP COMPLIANT

PROFESSIONAL GRADE

To comply with international food safety and hygiene standards, we fabricate all of our products using 304 stainless steel. It also avoids rust which makes it the perfect material for professional use.

HACCP or Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system is the international food safety standard. Alongside using 304 stainless steel, our design also achieves HACCP compliance. There are no exposed corners and edges for rodents and all parts are accessible to clean.

Our equipment are all designed for professional use. Hotels, restaurants, and catering services require heavy duty equipment. The cost of downtime is expensive.

BUILT TO LAST

STABLE SQUARE TUBES

DIE CAST STAMPED

Since we started 30 years ago, we have clients that still use the same stainless equipment we have supplied them. They are really built to last and is a great long term investment.

We only use square tubes for the frame and legs of our equipment. It is much more stable than round tube.

Sinks fall into 2 categories: stamped or fully welded. Welding introduces weakness in the composition of the stainless steel and is prone to rust. Stamping ensures homogeneous quality.

Team Building This year, we decided to host team building outings per department instead of a single company-wide event to strengthen the bonds between each department. Here are some photos from some of the recent team building events.

Service, Purchasing, and Material Management

36

Fabtech Group of Companies

Participants: - 54 Service - 14 Purchasing - 2 HR Venue: Philip’s Sanctuary Pestano Farm, Sitio Palinglingan, Brgy. San Juan, Antipolo, Rizal Objective: The teambuilding activity provides a chance for employees to get to know their immediate coworkers outside the office. It promotes camaraderie and teamwork, and helps improve their communication and coordination skills.

Philip’s Sanctuary is a perfect place for holding teambuilding events, especially with large groups who would enjoy outdoor activities. Christine Magboo (HR Officer) and I were assigned to join and help facilitate the event for Service and Purchasing Department. Since majority from these departments are male employees and the activities provided by Phillip’s sanctuary mostly requires physical strength and endurance, it was a perfect way for them to enjoy, run around, and get dirty. A completely different environment that employees were used to everyday. Facilitators were included in the teambuilding package, so it was good that all employees were able to participate in the activities, including the managers and us HR Officers. Employees were divided into six (6) groups,

all competing against each other. This helped everyone get to know each other more and especially for new hires to be more acquainted with their coworkers. Overall, the program was executed well and schedule of activities were followed accordingly. Everyone enjoyed the activities and were not afraid to go through the mud crawl. As HR Officers, employees from Service and Purchasing Department made us feel like we were part of their team building, not just facilitators. On our part, it’s refreshing to be with employees outside the office and without restrictions. Most of the time employees are hesitant to joke around with us or to get to know us on a more personal level because of work. But activities like these help break down that wall and it helps promote interpersonal relationships. - Marie Pasaporte

Engineering and Installation

38

Fabtech Group of Companies

Participants: - 16 Engineering - 7 Installation - 2 HR Venue: Puerto del Mar Beach Resort Candelaria, Zambales Objective: The teambuilding activity provides a chance for employees to get to know their immediate coworkers outside the office. It promotes camaraderie and teamwork, and helps improve their communication and coordination skills.

Despite the gloomy weather that greeted them, the Engineering Department was full of energy and joy during their activities. While preparing, everyone had helped out when we are buying the groceries, setting up the tables, cooking, and cleaning even though we traveled for 5 hours, everyone seemed full of energy during the whole afternoon. After we had lunch, we proceeded to the team activities and we were separated into four teams: Red, Yellow, Green and Blue. You can already see everybody’s competitive spirit at the start of the first game! Our team, the Yellow team, were behind during the first half of the activities but we tried to do better in the subsequent games but to be honest we

thought we were going to be in the 4th place despite our best efforts but when the rankings were announced for 4th and 3rd place, we weren’t mentioned and so our team was very happy. Part of that is because we’re not going to do the chores! We ended up in 2nd place and only 10 points behind the Champions, the Red team. I’m reminded that failure at first shouldn’t stop you from doing better and that even if you feel you’re behind it’s not necessarily true and so you should rather focus on just doing better than last time. Competence through ingenuity, aptitude, hard work and perseverance are traits each and everyone showed during the activities. I rarely see my colleagues that happy and that radiant which was only made apparent by the grey skies and rain around us. - Gabriel Tan

Human Resources and Gruppo Dolci

40

Fabtech Group of Companies

Participants: - 6 Human Resources - 24 Gruppo Dolci - 1 Building and Construction Management Venue: Sense of South 2 Hot Spring Resort 517 Purok 3, Ma. Makiling Subdivision, Solemar, Pansol, Calamba, Laguna Objective: The teambuilding activity provides a chance for employees to get to know their immediate coworkers outside the office. It promotes camaraderie and teamwork, and helps improve their communication and coordination skills.

HR Department together with Gruppo Dolci Inc. held our team building last June 21-22, 2019 at Sense of South Hot Spring Resort in Pansol, Calamba, Laguna. It was right after work on a Friday when we left for our team building. Our theme for the team building is “Huling Hirit sa Tag-init”. As such, everyone was asked to wear their best summer outfit.

Having Gruppo Dolci Inc. side by side during the event, the food they served was really great. We used our bare hands to eat during dinner, breakfast and lunch. They are the best team to have in any event. You won’t starve but also not to mention that they are all happy person. HR team are already looking forward on the next event with Gruppo Dolci Inc.

We were so excited in making the games and we weren’t disappointed during the event. Everyone was ecstatic to participate on each and every game that were thrown at them. There were 4 teams competing for the title of champions. My most unforgettable experience during the event was the Cheering competition where I was also a part of a team. We were given a short time to prepare but we came with confidence and props to lure the audience. I also enjoyed all the water activities that we’ve prepared. During the games, everyone was cheering for each player on set. Rooting for their own team to win.

This event has made not just our team (HR team) closer but also with the team of Gruppo Dolci Inc. Gruppo’s team are well bonded and they really get along very well. You can really feel it during the event. As for the HR team, we came to know more about each other and some of our hidden talents. I believe team building is an outlet to let go of your inhibitions, be open to your team members and start fulfilling your potential. We should definitely conduct more social engagement programs for the employees not just for relaxation but for the purpose of promoting values like honesty, discipline, unity, dependability, commitment and camaraderie. - Jomel Mina

AURO Chocolate takes home the gold and 9 other awards! June 2019

“Auro Chocolate Products impressed more than 100 expert judges who make up the panel. This year’s board of judges include leading chocolatiers and some of the UK’s most prominent food writers and bloggers. The recognition given to Philippine chocolates over the years shows that Philippine chocolates are indeed world class, said Ambassador Antonio M. Lagdameo.

48

Over a thousand entries from close to 50 countries were marked for appearance, depth of aroma and flavor, length, and complexity over a rigorous 25 session judging process stretching for 12 weeks. Purity and sustainability of ingredients remain paramount considerations for the Academy, said Marie-Pierre Moine, board member and awards ambassador.

Start Shared Services Company What is shared services? Shared services is the consolidation of business operations that are used by multiple parts of the same organization. Shared services are cost-efficient because they centralize back-office operations that are used by multiple divisions of the same company and eliminate redundancy. Fabtech Group of Companies is a group of 8 companies. To maximize our economies of scale, we will be creating another company that will serve as a shared service company for all the other companies. This company will be composed of the following departments: • Finance • Purchasing • Human Resources • Legal • Logistics • Material Management • FAB-HQ • Asset Management and Housekeeping Once completed, all teams withing Fabtech Group of Companies will be revenue and profit generating. This shift of mindset will allow us to become more independent and conscious. Our plan is to make our shared services company so effective, that we can sell our services to outside companies as well. Find more details about this goal in the next issue of Fabtech Employee Magazine.
