August, as we have often said before, is a pivotal time for the HOA. During this month, we host our Annual General Meeting, arguably the most important annual governance event for Simbithi. This year’s SEEHOA AGM is set for Thursday, 31 August 2023 at 18:00 in the Pavilion room.

right for the trust or company that owns the property. This should highlight the importance of keeping your contact information updated. Anyone wishing to check their details, please contact our Welcome Centre staff, who will gladly assist you.

Did you know, preparation for the AGM begins months before we meet as a community? There are many moving parts to ensuring its success, and the team starts preliminary discussions around potential resolutions, engagement dates, deployment of informational material and set up of the actual meeting early in the year. Capturing of proxies, setting up registers and several staff meetings take place to ensure a seamless process. Notices will be disseminated within the first half of August. Homeowners, a reminder that the e-mail will only be received by the main member of each property, that is, the individual who is registered on our system as the property owner, or the individual with the voting

We will also host an in-person engagement session on Tuesday, 15 August 2023 at 18:00. Please join us, as we introduce you to the nominees for the 2023/24 Board of Directors. You will have a chance to meet them and interact with them in an open forum. We will also give you a broad outline of each of the resolutions being tabled for consideration at the AGM, and you will be able to engage with directors and management in this regard.

The strength of our community and the success of the AGM lies in active participation, engagement, and strong representation for the votes. This year, we are challenging you to #BringThemtotheAGM. Encourage your fellow homeowners to come to the engagement sessions, attend the AGM or send through a proxy. Your voice matters in the Simbithi

story. We also encourage homeowners who would like to make use of a proxy, to do so well in advance of the administrative cut-off. The Companies Act does not allow us to close the proxies before commencement of the AGM, however there is a significant amount of administrative work which is required before a proxy is considered valid. Submitting these ahead of time allows the team to assist you to correct any anomaly, which may otherwise invalidate the proxy. While proxies handed in at the meeting will be valid, if there is any issue with the proxy, there will not be any time to assist, and the proxy will therefore be invalidated.

Before I sign off, don’t forget to watch Simbithi’s television debut on KYKNet, channel 144 on 12 August 2023 at 18:00. We will showcase the beauty of our Estate – and our Afrikaans skills (in my case, extremely limited) – on episode six of Ysters Op die Landgoed. Have a great month!

Dear Members,

Already August! I simply cannot believe how quickly the year has been progressing. It seems like just the other day I was writing a column welcoming you all back to the Club for 2023… and, now here we are, sliding swiftly through the second half of the year.

reflect on the year under review, celebrate our successes and acknowledge our challenges.

It has certainly been an eventful second quarter, which I reflect on as we move through quarter three. As you’re undoubtedly aware, by now, our most important calendar date is fast approaching. We meet for our Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 24 August 2023 at 18:00 in the Pavilion room. There are no resolutions up for a vote this AGM, so we will meet to hear annual reports from our Chairman, Jeff Leaver, and I, and approve our Audited Financial Statements. I encourage you to join us as we

At the SEEHOA Annual General Meeting the following week, homeowners will vote for the approval of the r10 million loan from SEEHOA to the Country Club for the execution of our Masterplan Phase 1. This is an important vote and, again, it would be great to match the level of participation we enjoyed at the General Meeting in June.

The SCC AGM will, of course, be followed by our Golf AGM. Please watch your e-mails for more information on both meetings.

The Club has been buzzing recently, as we have hosted several corporate clients. East Coast radio chose us to host their annual team building and showcased Simbithi

during their live broadcast. If you are looking for a venue for your team building as we close out the year… follow ECr’s example and come and chat to us for some packages. It is also time to start planning year-end closings, and we have a range of spaces for you to choose from: our multifaceted Dragonfly, our freshly revamped Wine Gallery, or our light and airy Pavilion for larger events. Pop into the Members’ Service Centre and let us create magic for you.

you join us. Other staff movements to note: since we last chatted, we said goodbye to our Events Manager Marlene Govender, and this month we say cheers to our Golf Manager, Thomas raatgever, who is relocating to the Netherlands. We will share more on these positions as our recruitment processes unfold.

Speaking of the Members’ Service Centre, some of you may have already met Jenna rolandi, who has joined our team as a front desk administrator. Jenna, lovely to have

Our golf course improvement is progressing well. Look out for the regular updates in our weekly communications, where we share detailed insights into the latest developments. Soon, our sponsors’ wall will take shape with the names of those who have kindly invested in this project. Later this month, we host our annual GM’s Cup in partnership with Fidelity Security

Services. We’re looking forward to a bumper day of golf and classic Simbithi gees. Contact the Pro Shop for bookings and more information.

The gees continues as we set up Boktown for the 2023 rugby World cup on the deck! Stella Artois is on board for this festive period, as we cheer on the boys in green and gold. Let’s gather on the deck and bring the Webb Ellis cup back home where it belongs.

I hope August treats you well, and that we see you for our AGMs later this month. Have a great month!

Giving Back for Mandela Day

As the man himself once said: “there can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.”

The Simbithi community came together to honour the life and legacy of human rights icon and South Africa’s first democratic president Nelson r. Mandela on International Mandela Day on Tuesday, 18 July 2023.

In keeping with our strategic initiative of integration, we chose to celebrate with a three-pronged community initiative.

Once hot water is added, the jars provide a soup that feeds up to four people. We will be distributing these jars to worthy organisations, soon. Thank you to everyone who turned out to help!

The Fig Tree restaurant hopped on board with dozens of pillowy-soft cupcakes, topped with rosy icing, sold in a Cupcakes for Hope party. Proceeds will be donated to CANSA.

Finally, the South African National Blood Service was stationed at the Dragonfly Conference Centre for a Mandela Day blood drive. Thank you, everyone, who flexed their arms to give the gift of life.

Once again, testament to the strength

of the Simbithi community. We are #SimbithiStrong!

Simbithi Wellness #4: Here Comes the Sun

…do, dun, do, do…

Life and Wellness Coach Kirsten

Ah, what a joy to see all the “pretty darlin’s” (and dudes!) stretch out for the fourth installment for our Simbithi Wellness initiative. In partnership with Pam Golding Properties Ballito, we hosted a Secret Sunrise at the Kingfisher Community Centre. As the Winter sun made a lazy appearance, residents popped their headphones on and flowed through a yoga session followed by an energetic, liberating dance session with Jive with Jen.

Hunneyball then shared motivation on navigating the mid-year slump and general health and wellness as we enter the second half of 2023.

Ella Sol rounded off the morning with a pop-up of her gorgeous clothing, and Pam Golding Properties Ballito graciously supplied each attendee with a goodie bag.

Thank you for attending, and watch out for our next Wellness Morning!

EVENTS

We are incredibly proud of our Dragonfly Warriors, a team of staff members who took up the Virgin Active Warrior r ace’s charge to #BeBrave. Etienne Begemann, Shantal Chithiya, Prisha Dhoopraj, Ayanda Duma, r owina Kanniappen, Jaide Manthidi, r anee Naidoo and r ashik r amouthar competed in the r ookie and Black-Ops categories, conquering between four and 15 kilometres and a series of obstacles. South Africa’s largest obstacle course racing series was no match for our warriors, who –although exhausted and muddied by the end – flew the Simbithi flag high. Well done, #TeamSimbithi. You have made us proud and embodied the essence of Warrior: Wise. Adventurous. r esolute. r ise(r). Indomitable. Overcome(r). r esilient.

War M for Winter

Our sincerest thanks to all our residents who kindly donated items to our Winter Warmth campaign, recently concluded in partnership with Vision153. Aligned with our strategic initiatives of integration and environmental, social and governance, the project sought to provide warm clothing to our neighbours in Shakashead.
