“on the crossroads of europe: fostering cultural diversity” Lublin has played an important role in Polish history. It was situated on the crossroads of Europe, connecting the west with the North- and South-East, making it a hub for international trade. The Polish-Lithuanian state was also formed here through the Union of Lublin in the late 14th-century. In other words Lublin has been a place fostering cultural diversity, where different people from different cultures and backgrounds meet, connect and exchange ideas. Despite no major trade routes going through Lublin anymore, it continues to serve as a multicultural hub for people of different origins. EYP being such a diverse organisation, facilitating meetings between people of different origins, not much unlike Lublin, we thought Lublin would be the perfect place to host an EYP session with such an important theme. Lublin 2020 will be focused on sustainability and wellbeing of all its participants. In today’s day and age sustainability could not be more important and we chose to put extra focus on limiting the environmental footprint of Lublin 2020, despite our session theme not directly revolving around sustainability. We aim to achieve this through concrete actions such as minimising the use of single use plastic and recycling our waste, Furthermore, wellbeing both mental and physical, is another important thing very close to our heart. EYP sessions are famous for facilitating a stressful and unhealthy environment, often resulting in sleep deprivation and mental breakdowns. We want Lublin 2020 to be a session fostering a healthy environment, limiting stress and pressure for all participants, delegates as well as officials. We are already looking forward to meeting you in Lublin, I hope you do too!

“reach for the stars” The idea for this session theme came from the fact that Toruń is closely connected to astronomy, as it is the birth town of Nicolaus Copernicus - the creator of the heliocentric theory. Through that, he had a considerable impact on how people perceived the world. What he came up with was a brave and controversial idea back in the day. He reached for the stars and we are able to do so as well! By organising this session, we want to create an inclusive, welcoming and inspiring environment that would give all its participants a chance to reach for the stars. Doing it on such a scale as Copernicus did may be quite a difficult job to do within the short duration of a Regional Session but we hope that the days spent in Toruń will abound in chances which could later result in amazing things. A crucial aspect of our vision is giving its participants an opportunity to indulge in the local culture of our city. Since travelling is such a vital part of EYP, we want to show them around a little bit, and ensure that they get more from this event than just fulfilling their respective roles. We want to make sure that it is a memorable experience for everyone involved, so that when people look back on it as something near and dear to their hearts.

Dear all, It is my utmost pleasure to have the opportunity to welcome you and invite you to embark upon this adventurous journey with us. The Regional Selection Conference of EYP Poland in Lublin is intended to focus on the aims that the European Youth Parliament has been trying to advocate for the past 30+ years of its existence; Active citizenship and youth-empowerment, while nurturing a generation of future decision-makers. Yes, that is you. We will try to do that by of course, focusing on you. By keeping in mind at all times the voluntary and impactful nature of our work, we wish to learn new things, make new mistakes, and gain new experiences through the focus on the individual. How? I can hear you asking. Well, as a person, I believe I can only advocate things that I truly believe in and practises that I have worked with and saw their effect in practise. Which is what the following methods are. Everyone will be invited to discover their workings strengths and weaknesses by deploying and attempting to use new working techniques and strategies in order to find what works for them, and when it does so sustainably. Through that, a habitual progress can begin unraveling through each individual, who will have the opportunity to build on their very own key areas and hopefully keep a valuable post-session lesson and technique. Throughout this process, the notion of solitary-focus will also come in practise; one thing at a time, done well. And of course, since we expect high dividends from our performances, high rewards are also to be expected. In the meanwhile, an attempt for an organically unified team of officials will be made, with the superior purpose of providing every single delegate with a comfortable atmosphere and most importantly, a session to remember. Dear potential applicant, First I’d like to express my gratitude for your interest in this session! Toruń will be a perfect mix of fun and work, allowing personal growth for each of its participants! My vision for the chairs’ team heavily relies on freedom, exploration and development. Just like Nicolaus Copernicus, whose birth town is Toruń, dared to express a different perspective, chairs will be encouraged to try something new and step out of their comfort zone. When it comes to Chairs, we will be devising personal development plans that will have an impact long after the session is over. By agreeing upon steps that lead to the accomplishment of one’s goal, we are setting goals that are plausible for the duration of the session. But I will not be doing this alone! My vision for my Vice Presidents is that they have ownership of every aspect of the work we will be doing with the Chairs team. They will be given the opportunity to explore their unique leadership styles in a safe environment. Speaking of a safe environment, the Board will be focusing on making this session as least stressful as possible for the Chairs, as well as other members of the Officials team. With a focus on making everyone feel their best selves, I’m positive the session will not be the one to forget! Dear potential applicants, It is my utmost pleasure to welcome you to Lublin 2020 and I am beyond excited to embark on this journey together with our outstanding leadership, who I am sure will successfully enable each and every participant to flourish within the event and within our network. From a personal perspective, I seek to create an environment that allows every Media Team Member to learn new skills and apply them to channel their creativity through projects that will reflect the session spirit and their impact on it. My primary goal will be to empower and support all my team members in order for them to realise that no media project is too hard or complex for them to bring into fruition. In order to do that, I seek to challenge the team to grasp what they want to do as Media Team Members, what inspires them to take bigger steps and overall, make use of their strengths and learn through their weaknesses to achieve an output that will highlight their own vision about their experience in Lublin 2020. Chairs, Jury or Media Team Member, I can guarantee that Lublin 2020 has something different to offer to everyone and it is an opportunity that you will not want to miss.

Just as the session theme suggests, one of the main goals of Torun 2020 is to provide every member of the media team a fun and comfortable working environment, where each and every one can find themselves and take control over their work. No matter the media experience, we are here to share what we already know and be open towards what others have to offer. As a media team we will be there to document the amazing moments happening during the session, each one of us in our own creative way, where support and feedback will always be provided by the editorial team. The editorial assistant and I will be working on the editing of the photography and videography aspect of the session, project management, and we will put a great emphasis on the personal development of each team member and the group dynamics. With greater freedom also comes regular feedback, which is as well expected by the journalists to be sought, in order to keep track of the work and to keep everyone motivated. The most important part of the session are the delegates. With that being said, each journalists will be assigned to a committee, somehow representing their topic, but most importantly, the theme of the session to the delegates. By working together collaboratively, providing each other help, support and feedback on the ideas, we as a team will be able to bond and achieve successful teamwork, whilst the rest of the participants will get the right essence of what this session is promoting. So, if you are up for a great, fun experience and share my vision, if you are aiming for a place where you decide what version of yourself you want to be, I encourage you to take the chance and apply to Torun 2020.

Dear applicants, As Head Of Jury for Lublin RS 2020, I am hoping to create an inclusive and positive atmosphere for officials and delegates alike. I would like for the jury team to be fully integrated with the rest of the official’s team, and wish that the team appears approachable for delegates. As delegates are being evaluated rather than ranked it also removes a sometimes harsh and competitive element from the session, which I believe will serve to create a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere instead. The theme of this session, “Fostering Cultural Diversity” is an integral element for the jury team, as I am hoping to remove all biases and evaluate all delegates equally, irrespective of their backgrounds or any other aspects. I’m looking forward to seeing your applications!

Dear potential applicant, I am glad to be given the opportunity to shape the Jury team of Torun 2020. The RSCs happening this March are important events giving the delegates the chance to attend the NSC of EYP Poland. We, as the Jury team, have the task of creating a framework where all delegates will be equally evaluated and where all of their assets will be taken into account. In order to create this open-minded and innovative structure, I am looking for two Jury members to join me on this adventure. Together, our main goal will consist in elaborating a system that takes into account the needs of the polish NC, while stepping out of the restrictive selection process. Delegates are young individuals taking part in a learning experience and therefore should be given the opportunity to reflect on their behaviour and impressions, as well as the opportunity to seek further experience in another event. It is based on this vision that us, the Jury team, will collaborate and reflect about what frame we can build together. If this vision talks to you and you would like to add your stone to the edifice, I will be more than happy to read your application.
