- CEO and founder of the social media goliath Facebook - has a vested interest in the role technology plays in human rights and liberties. In regards to controversies surrounding Facebook suppressing conservative stories in user’s feeds, Mr. Zuckerberg said “We believe the world is better when people from different backgrounds and with different ideas all have the power to share their thoughts and experiences”. He also stressed the importance of creating a global network in which everyone has a voice.

Kersti Kaljulaid

- the president of Estonia - a country at the forefront of digital revolution in Europe, feels very strongly about the needs of her citizens. In an interview with WIRED, she emphasised that Estonians are refusing to live in a world ruled by paper, and that adapting to a world where all crucial information is stored digitally must be a global effort. She also mentioned trust between the government and its citizens as essential in the process.
