Dear Delegates of Toruń 2017!

“The best things in life are often waiting for you at the exit ramp of your comfort zone.” – Karen Salmansohn This session of the European Youth Parliament, a.k.a. EYP, will most likely be the first encounter you have with our organisation for most of you. EYP is a fantastic opportunity for you to voice your opinion, take a stance on political issues and learn more about the European Union, different cultures and young people across Europe. After 3 years in this organisation, I can safely say the warm-hearted and open-minded attitude most members of EYP possess change my life and myself with it. It’s therefore my pleasure to accompany you, dear delegates, through your first EYP event and will try my absolute best to make it as exciting and amazing as my first experience.

Dear participants of Toruń 2017, It is my utmost pleasure and great honour to welcome you all to this wonderful yet so well-known city of Poland.

First of all, I would like to thank all of you, both officials and delegates, for your willingness to take part in this session, your passion to associate yourselves with EYP whether you are a newcomer or experience decades in it, and most importantly your courage to step into this adventure.

There is an inspirational saying accentuates that life begins at the end of one’s comfort zone. I wholeheartedly believe in significance of this motto and encourage all of you to believe, at least try to. New adventures are full of unknowns. New journeys are full of expectations. New excitements are full of challenges. These challenges you can overcome at the moment you escape your comfort zone.

For me, EYP is living at the edge of your comfort zone; EYPers are always ready to dive into new adventures, confront with unsteadiness and deal with timorous minds. I have been on the same road, yet I believe I still am, and there is absolutely no end. I have never quitted gaining or learning, whether it be about global conflicts, European constitutions, or about myself. This extraordinary gathering teaches you the essences of life while pushes you out of your comfort zone.

As the editor of the session, I assure you the media team will embrace each and every participant in welcoming and friendly atmosphere. As a gesture of solidarity, the media team will always be with you while you come across with new challenges, and step into new adventures. MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD ORGANISERS BRIAN CAMACHO, ZUZANNA NOWAK

Dear participants, It is our greatest pleasure to welcome you to our home town of Toruń, for the brief yet hopefully meaningful four days of Toruń 2017 – Regional Selection Conference of EYP Poland.

So far, our experience with EYP has been centred around what EYP could give. The multitude of new experiences and challenges, opportunities for personal development, new places, new people, and new cultures. A couple months ago, we set out with a new goal in mind – to contribute at least a little bit of what we managed to receive. During the long hours spent calling offices, writing formal letters, meeting partners and worrying out of our minds over how it will all turn out, this was the goal that helped us pull through.

Today, as all the teams are gathered and the session elements start coming together into one complex body, we know one thing for certain – the satisfaction of standing up to another challenge, the excitement of sharing your own culture and the warm, fuzzy feeling of bringing EYP into the lives of others made the efforts worthwhile every step of the way.

The first ever Regional Selection Conference of EYP Poland is going to take place in the beautiful, historic town of Toruń. Established in the XIII century, the city boasts a gothic old town, whic is currently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mostly known for its signature gingerbread cookies and being the birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus, Toruń is a vibrant cultural and entrepreneurial hub of the region.

TRAVEL The most convenient ways of moving around Poland are buses and intercity trains. We recommend that you use PKP Intercity (e-ic.pl) for trains and Polski Bus (polskibus.com) for buses. Both companies operate nationwide (with several international connections), are friendly for English-speaking users and offer reasonable prices.

If you’re flying to Poland, the cheapest destination is Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) or Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI).

• In order to get from WAW to Warsaw Central Station, use Warsaw’s municipal transportation. The most convenient options are bus line 175 and train lines S3 and KM9.

• From WMI, buy an airport ticket from a machine right outside the airport. The ticket is for both the shuttle from the airport to Modlin Train Station, and the KM Train to Warsaw Central Station.

It is also possible to commute straight from WMI to Toruń. You can find the timetable and online bus booking at modlinbus.pl.

WARSAW CENTRAL STATION TO TORUŃ From Warsaw Central Station, the best way to get to Toruń is by train. Check e-ic.pl (available in English) for a connection that suits you (enter “TORUŃ GŁÓWNY” as your destination and “WARSZAWA CENTRALNA” as your place of departure). The ticket will cost about 50 PLN (12 EUR). You can buy a ticket online at e-ic.pl, at the station or from a ticket inspector (for the last option, make sure to approach a ticket inspector right after boarding the train, they will charge you a small additional fee for buying a ticket on the train).
