Call for Delegates for Warsaw 2016 – Power Shifts Academic Forum

EYP Poland is delighted to open the call for delegates for the second Power Shifts Academic Forum in Warsaw. The Forum will be held from the 22nd to the 30th of October 2016 and will gather around 140 participants from all over Europe.

The forum is head-organised by the skillful Andrzej Daniluk (PL), presided by the brilliant Megan Smith (IE) and edited by the visionary Silja Tuovinen (FI).

Along the selection process there will be a competition for the most outstanding essay on the energy politics. The author will get awarded during the session with a Kindle e-book reader. The word limits in the essay are 400-600 words. The essay topics can be found in the application form mentioned above.

ON THE PROJECT This forum is organised by EYP Poland and is part of “Power Shifts - Reflecting Europe’s Energy” which is a project by the European Youth Parliament and the Schwarzkopf Foundation in cooperation with the RWE Foundation. It enables young people throughout Europe to monitor, inform themselves and debate about European energy policy from 2015 until 2017. The project will focus on the diversity and interdependency of energy policy on the European level, while France, Poland and Germany will serve as national example cases and will organise three international forums. Led by a steering group of young people who will further develop the academic content, the main activities of the project are the three academic forums in Lyon, France in 2015, in Warsaw, Poland this October and in Heidelberg, Germany in 2017.

EYP SESSION CONCEPT For the duration of the session, the participants are divided into international working groups (committees) that draft resolutions on their respective topics. In these groups, the task of the young people is to come up with their own suggestions and ideas for Europe’s most pressing challenges on energy issues. The results are then presented and debated in a parliamentary assembly at the end of the event. More information on how we work can be found on our website: www.eyp.org/sessions/our-session-concept.

IMPORTANT DETAILS The programme of the forum will involve Teambuilding, Committee Work, experts talks, a cultural programme and finally the General Assembly. The participation fee for the delegates is 60 € and will cover all costs including accommodation, meals and transport throughout the event. You must be over 18 years old at the time of the session. You are expected to arrive in Warsaw until late afternoon on October 22nd. The official language is English. Participants are excepted to be present during all programme parts.
