Selection Report i (Chairs / Board)

BiaŁystok 2014 Panel The selection panel was composed of Christian Macht (President of the Session) together with Maciej Kuczyński (Head Organiser) each sharing one-third of the vote. They were joined by Krzysztof Ignaciuk (President of EYP Poland) who represented the Board of EYP Poland with the combined votes from Aleksandra Sosnowska, Katarzyna Sokołowska and himself.

Applications In total, 32 applications were received with 21 male and 11 female applicants. 1 application was withdrawn before the panel began its selection. In total the panel received: 5 applications for Vice-President 29 applications for Chair 2 applications for Editor These applications came from the following countries (in order of amount of applications submitted): Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Netherlands, Italy, Belarus, Portugal, France, Russia, Sweden, Romania, Serbia, Austria.

Selection for Editor / Head of Jury The panel regrets, that the applications received did not live up to the expectations EYPers would have towards a National Selection Conference and decided to launch a combined call for Editors and Journalists after the selection process.

One applicant expressed their wish to participate as Head of Jury but did not fill in any of the required fields. The Head of Jury was invited separately after the selection process.

selection Report I (Chairs / Board) Selection for Chairs / Board One of the core criteria were the potential and commitment to multiply the effect of attending the session in the EYP and specifically EYP Poland, i.e. whether the applicant can support young or less experienced Polish Chairs at the Session, or continue his involvement within EYP Poland respectively. Additionally, the panel paid close attention to giving a chance to those applicants who have not had this opportunity in the past year.

The panel selected two Vice-Presidents (out of 5 applications) and 14 chairs (out of 29 applications). The Chairs’ Team is composed of 7 female and 7 male participants from Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belarus, Sweden, Serbia and Austria.

While preferring a bigger number of experienced EYPers, the members of the selection panel were happy with the ambition and spirit expressed in most of the applications as well as the high level of quality displayed by the young team (average age of 19 years). Considering the number of sessions and calls in parallel, the amount of applications received was surprisingly high and together with the number of people applying repeatedly for Polish sessions might well serve as an indicator for the attractiveness of Białystok and events organised by EYP Poland.

All applicants were informed individually of the outcome of their application. The applicants who were not invited to join the team were all offered a detailed explanation of the reasons behind the panel’s decision as well as further feedback upon request.

The deadline for chairs and media team was June 30th. The selection panel convened three days later and by the 15th of July, all applicants had been informed of the results and the successful confirmed their attendance.

Christian and EYP Poland are thrilled to have such talented individuals on the team and are confident they will contribute to making the 11th National Selection Conference of EYP Poland a brilliant event.
