FLIRTY + FEMININE FREE-SPIRITED DESIGN pretty, carefree, with an air of boho chic and a tinge of the 1950s or 60s

Sunglasses radar A really diverse and inspiring choice of sunglasses designs has appeared in the independent collections this year...on the one side, familiar timeless shapes inspired by vintage classics and upgraded in new colorways have a certain appeal for those who want lasting quality and designs for everyday. While on a wilder note, extra large and extra bold designs, hyper-saturated colour, dreamy femininity and some adventurous and unusual creations confirm that the season is about individuality and unique personality and a freedom of expression that will know no bounds... www.eyestylist.com COVER IMAGE: LAPIMA's Nina sunglasses www.lapima.com BELOW: Mariana by AM EYEWEAR - Lellow www.ameyewear.com

Zesty colour There is something to be said for wearing bright colours or contrasting tones on the face! And with our current strife and need for cheer, the zingy tones and freshest hues are hot as highlighters for a much needed summery mood. Acid shades, pops of neon, citrusy colour...used as accents these exuberant highlighter hues have wound up across the catwalk collections at the fashion houses, injecting chic style and confidence to make things feel more 'brilliant and bright'. FROM TOP: The Kahlo by Etnia Barcelona in orange - this frame comes from a series that brings lots of fun cheer to sunwear; Simona by Nina Mur - yellow is a Pantone choice this year and the colour tends to give out sunny vibes and a positive mood; the Kahlo by Etnia Barcelona in orange - a colour that has been getting lots of press; Nina by Lapima in white - retro influenced and upbeat; Rex by KOMONO in a floral tone of poppy - a well liked colour in fashion in general

LENS TRENDS Lens + frame in matching tones IMAGE: Montecarlo by Viveur Eyewear

Lens tones A set of coloured lenses paired with a good frame is now one of the most sought after and diverse accessories for Spring/Summer. Muted tones, soft yellows, floral purples, blush pinks to sea and sky blue.... with clear, milky white or translucent frames, a subtle pop of lens colour will add chic and style through the warmest months. Variations to note are the sophisticated ombre tones, running from top to bottom, dark to light, lens tones melding into frame colorations and tone-on-tone with the eyes quite visible behind the soft and gentle tints. FROM TOP: Kuboraum mask X11; Focus by MYKITA & Bernhard Willhelm - in Chantilly White/Turquoise - the lens colour washes over onto the frame; FASHA by AM Eyewear - very subtle bluish wash effect; Jupiter by Essedue, a nice example of a graduated ;pink tone; sunny yellow lenses in the Marti by Waiting for the Sun

XXXL Steal the show! Whatever your preference in shapes or colours this year, everything is pointing us towards huge and powerful standout designs. Rooted in vintage, and a mix of decades from the 60s to the 00s, oversized is fun and fabulous again, with a defiant all embracing ‘who care’s’ attitude. Shapes include square frame glasses, bold face-hugging shields, 1970s angular acetate rims and 80s infused extreme designs with graphic shapes and light tinted lens... This summer's on-trend styles are likely to be the most decadent shapes, classic in tortoise or black but just as desirable in punchier tones of crystal, red, azure blue and olive green. Not for the faint-hearted, these exhuberant design pieces are confident and liberating, an expression of a real statement and a chance to break free....
