10th Anniversary Donegal Town Summer Festival Preparations are almost complete for this weekend’s 10th Anniversary Donegal Town Summer Festival. Running from Friday 29th June to Sunday 1st July 2018 it will feature some of Ireland’s most talented bands. Since first taking place in 2008 the concept of live, open air concerts in the centre of town has attracted people from both the local area and also from all over the country. Opening with the McNelis Cunningham Boyle School of Irish Dance, Friday night continues with the final of the “Jim White Lady Nuala” Competition and later live on
the Diamond Marty Mone “Hit the Diff ”. The Lady Nuala Competition was revived in 2016 and dedicated to the memory of Jim White, who was always a huge supporter of the Summer Festival On Saturday the Kids’ Fun Day starts at 1pm at the AVS and the live music starts on the Diamond at 2pm. Minbenders will be live on stage from 7pm and Hermitage Green will take over from 9pm. On Sunday Donegal’s first ever 10K Run will take place in association with Tír Chonaill Athletic Club at 10.30am. From
12-2pm there will be Kids’ and Adults’ Tractor Races on the Diamond while over at Rossylongan at 4pm a Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition will take place. Concerts on Sunday will be Bagatelle at 6.30pm and closing the weekend from 9pm The Logues. The Festival Weekend promises to be full of family fun with lots of live music, plenty of ceol agus craic in all the surrounding bars and lots of lovely food offerings and shopping to suit all ages and tastes.
