n July 12th, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine entered into a historic agreement with three worldrenowned French research institutions, the University Pierre et Marie Curie of the Sorbonne Universités in Paris, the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (Inserm); and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). This collaboration will focus on research
and education in the fields of medicine and biomedical sciences. Gérard Araud, the U.S. Ambassador of France, graciously hosted the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, the Department of Ophthalmology, the Eye & Ear Foundation Board of Directors and supporters at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. for the signing ceremony, followed by a champagne reception honoring the new collaboration between Pittsburgh and Paris.
