Jennifer Jorgensen and Kate Worum are the powerhouse artistic duo behind She She - the premiere custom print and pattern making studio in Minneapolis.

MEET THE MAKER

The Gentleman.

ANTHONY ANDLER Owner, Heimie’s Haberdashery in Saint Paul

To enter Heimie’s Haberdashery in Lowertown St. Paul is to step back into a world well-curated. From the moment you cross the threshold, you feel the gravitas of family tradition as well as the dedication to craft. The shop’s proprietor, Anthony Andler, gives us a glimpse into the storied history of Heimie’s and their more than 90 years in the menswear industry. “My grandfather, Heimie Andler, came to Saint Paul from Russia in 1917, in the midst of the Russian Revolution. In the early 1920’s, he opened a tailor shop on Saint Paul’s Old Seventh Street. After World War II, my grandfather and my father, Ralph, opened a readyto-wear and tailoring shop, Heimie’s Menswear. My father worked there most of his life, until he retired in 1993.”

Following in well-heeled footsteps, Anthony also took an interest in the family business. “I was opening boxes and pressing clothes in the basement

when I was 13 years old, and eventually began a LONG apprenticeship with my grandfather.” Heimie’s Menswear was sold to a private party in 1995, shortly after Ralph Andler passed away. The name was changed and the store closed its doors only a year later. But the pull to the family business was strong, and Anthony reopened the family business on St. Peter Street in 2004 under its current name.

Today Heimie’s Haberdashery specializes in bespoke and ready-to-wear suits and menswear, luxury leather goods, accessories, footwear and hats. With the addition of barbers, a tobacconist and shoe shine services, the ambience and inventory at Heimie’s reflect the consummate gentleman behind the counter. Impeccably styled with effusive charm, Anthony continues to provide clients in the Twin Cities and beyond with the gold-standard inmen’s style.

A. “Personal style is the first glimpse into who you are. I dress people to match their personalities. Dress and style is about form and function, but more than anything it’s about the person wearing the clothes. If you dress in a way that doesn’t reflect your inner self, it will show outwardly.”

A. “Trends are important, especially when they derive from innovation, like new materials or fabrics. But trends can be fast fading. We always view trends through the lens of the traditional. Our perception is changed by trend, but a look has to feel true and fit into your life landscape to have staying power.”

A. “The real expression point in a person’s look is from the shoulders up, so eyewear can be a key communicator of your perspective. You can change a mood or an attitude instantly. Eyewear is often overlooked – we’ve even tried to get rid of it by putting contacts in our eyes.

But the symmetry, color, and form eyewear gives, that is important.”

A. “I’m a non-believer in rules, in general. When you walk into Heimie’s, the only rule is that you follow your truth. We’re going to sell you something you need – that resonates with you. If we do that, all other rules are irrelevant.”

DISTANCE MID-RANGE READING

Readers: Our reader glasses are made with optical quality lenses making them scratch-resistant, lightweight and ultra-easy to clean. Diopters available: 0.75 to 3.50.

Single Vision Lenses: Most RX users fall into the category of single-vision. Singlevision lenses will correct for one field of vision (reading or computer distance).

All single-vision lenses include an antireflective coating as well as being scratchresistant, lightweight, and ultra-easy to clean. Call for RX information.

Progressive Lenses: Progressive lenses will correct for distance, computer and reading at different strengths. Eyebobs digital surfacing is 6x more precise than traditional surfacing providing a higher quality experience along with a wider and more stable intermediate zone to allow for more comfortable overall vision. Transitions: These lenses automatically adapt to changing light conditions, allowing you to see more comfortably and helping to reduce glare, eye fatigue and strain.

Transitions block 100% of UV rays as well as harmful blue light rays from nature and technology. All transition lenses include an anti-reflective coating as well as being scratch-resistant, lightweight, impactresistant and ultra-easy to clean. Also available as single-vision or progressive lenses.

Polarized: High-quality polarized lenses offer 100% UV protection along with a crystal-clear, glare-free view. Light rays bouncing off water, snow or pavement can impair your vision with blinding glares but polarized lenses reflect these beams to keep you seeing clearly.

Narrow: Hey, it isn’t the size of the frame, it’s how you wear it. Precisely why eyebobs has loads of styles just right for the diminutive dome. Narrow frames have widths up to 5⅛ inches.

Average: Whoever said being average was a bad thing? That medium melon you’re sporting means most frames should fit you without an issue.

Average frames measure between 5⅛ – 5½ inches.
