How To Determine Your Face Shape.

The difference between us and “the other guys” is that we’ll never tell you what you can and cannot rock. If it makes you feel good, then it’s meant for you. That being said, we know you already have an esteemed sense of style and it’s our job to keep you in the know.

Allow us to show you your face shape and some starter suggestions that you can run with or use to completely rewrite the playbook.

Heart Those with a heart-shaped face have a forehead that’s broader than their jawline and an angular chin that comes to a point (like the bottom of a heart.)

Heart-shaped faces are usually well-balanced by frames that are wider than the forehead or frames with detail or heavier acetate on the lower half.

RECOMMENDED FRAMES: SEYMOUR GLASS (PG 37), WHAT INHERITANCE? (PG 25)

Diamond If your face is longer than it is wider and exceptionally pointy, your face shares its shape with one of the most luxurious gemstones of all time. Nice. If you’re looking for a place to start, try something round to contrast your deluxe noggin.

Square If your face is just about as wide as it is long, and the corners of your face are healthily defined, you have a square-shaped face. These folks tend to gravitate towards the juxtaposing-yet-beautifullybalancing round and oval frames.

RECOMMENDED FRAMES: BOARD STIFF (PG 18), FINLEY (PG 21)

Round The dead giveaway you have a round-shaped face is a rounded forehead and chin, but cheekbones that are wider than any other facial features may also tip you off. If you’d like, you can create more angles with pointed frames or even frames with unique details like rivets.

Kate Founder of Craftmade Aprons

Kate Meier is an innovator, a successful business owner, and a titan of industry. What drives her is not fame or fortune, but rather, a feeling that the people she serves are family, and that you always take care of family.

Kate watched her chef sons ruin apron after apron while completing simple kitchen tasks. Her journey began here, making unique, personable, truly durable aprons that, from the first time her sons wore them out in public, became a hot commodity.

Craftmade Aprons is a household name in the Twin Cities service industry, providing unique, affordable, high-quality aprons for chefs at your favorite restaurants.

No matter how they grow, Kate still tries to make each apron as individualized as she can. Just like she did for her sons.

“We’re a team in this process,” Kate explains, “It’s about dialing into the person you’re working with, learning what their occupation is and thinking, what can we do to make your job even better?”

Her care for each and every person didn’t stop there. Kate has seen the effects of the service industry first-hand. Because of this, she founded Project Black and Blue, an initiative that donates 50% of all revenue from Project Black and Blue aprons to those dealing with the mental, physical and financial stresses of working in the service industry. Then the pandemic hit, and Kate saw line cooks, food delivery drivers and other industry workers putting themselves at risk every day.

“This is my family. These are people I care about. If you’re putting yourself at risk, I’m going to try to help you be safe.”

Craftmade started making masks almost immediately after quarantine began and was donating as many as possible to those who weren’t getting the equipment they needed.

They even donated masks to janitors at The Mayo Clinic. For Kate, it started with family, and it will end with family, just a much bigger one than before.

How can we use coffee to bring people together? Houston White, owner of Houston White Apparel & Accessories, has always loved coffee but found that specialty coffee is not inclusive nor diverse.

Dan Anderson, owner of Dogwood Coffee and Houston’s dear friend, has seen this problem through his time in the industry and also wanted to bridge this gap.

After the murder of George Floyd, the pair went to play golf to talk about what they could do to support the community. They needed a solution that was bigger than donations ... something that would foster a lasting impact.

When Dan arrived home and discussed it with his wife Angie, she suggested they open a new coffee business. It was the perfect solution. They could open a specialty roastery in North Minneapolis that would create sustainable jobs and bring more voices to the table. And thus, The Get Down Coffee Co. was born.

more than that, it’s about cultural inclusion. It’s about sharing the art form with the community. Houston will be the majority owner of Get Down, and Dogwood Coffee will be its sibling company, supporting Get Down with sourcing, a wide knowledge base and more.

Get Down plans to create unique flavor profiles similar to Dogwood’s Mixtape blend. Music will also be a fundamental and unique aspect of Get Down. They’ll have a DJ booth where Houston hopes to have “tiny desk concert moments” weekly so that the shop breathes culture, life and fun.

According to Houston, the journey can all be boiled down to one simple and powerful phrase: Art builds community.
