MOVING FORWARD, MOVING ON (MFMO)

LOCATION: Belfast

MFMO works to support the economically inactive and those not in education, training or employment.The project provides a mentoring support service for those who have previously been through alternative education projects, such as Extern’s Pathways Project, as well as ensuring that young service users have employability skills. Referrals to the programme can be made from alternative education projects, statutory agencies, and organisations including social services, the PSNI or the Youth Justice Agency. Self-referrals are also possible.

PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT UNIT (PDU)

LOCATION: Regional

Three services make up the external service provision of the PDU, funded by the NI Social Care Council. The Voluntary Organisations Communication and Learning Service (VOCALS) represents and advocates for the voluntary sector in all aspects of social work education. The Extern Practice Learning Centre provides 12 social work placements per year to students. The Extern Professional in Practice (PiP) service provides post-qualifying training and assessment to social workers working outside of statutory agencies.
