The first step is usually acquaintances, then it is friendship, then best friends and further moving onto relationship and love. Two of these, friendship and relationship have been talked about a lot, and this article will look into the differences between them.

I think a family is the most important thing in a person's life. A family enlarges their children, educates their children. I think first education begins in the family. If a child doesn't learn anything in her/his family, I think he or she can't be successful. We must be careful about our families. They are the crown of our heads.

Family should take care of each other, love and protect. Family is the smallest unit of society. Education starts in the family, love, respect and morals. Family is very important and my parents always say: "Family will be there for ever."

The album’s opening track “Step In The Name” will make you dance not only because of its infectious groove and assertive lyrics to “just let go” and “step into your miracle,” but because its inspiration came from a less than joyous time he and his wife had to go through. Popin explains, “My wife Susan couldn’t get pregnant for 10 years. It was a very trying time for me, but especially for my wife. Remaining joyful became more and more difficult.” Once Susan was able to get pregnant, she suffered several miscarriages and the couple faced further discouragement and depression in relation to their season of infertility. During this time, God dropped in Popin’s heart what he refers to as “this little melody of joy” that inspired the song. “To step – meaning dance, brought joy into our hearts and reminded us to praise our way through it. As God began to give my wife her joy back, the depression began to leave. Faith and hope began to surface, and then, she got pregnant,” Popin shares joyously.

Five children later, it’s his hope that the song helps facilitate true joy in listeners’ dark places and becomes their soundtrack as they step/dance their way through any situation.

of the late, "George Perkins," who was a beloved community leader, a man of integrity who took stances for the equal rights of others, an icon, a civic, business leader, a legend and wellknown for music. George Perkins was born in the city of Walker, LA, and relocated to Hammond in 1979. He immediately became a community leader in the Hammond area.

He joined Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and member of the male chorus. He Co-Chaired the board of deacons and was in charge of the church's video recording. Mr. Perkins was an insurance sales representative and later a cable TV franchise owner by trade, but he was best known as one of the originators of the Tangipahoa Black Festival that began in 1984. In 1987, the name was changed to the Tangipahoa Parish Black Heritage Festival. With the new name, Mr. Perkins and other leaders of the organization decided they needed a permanent facility and contacted the parish school system to purchase a boarded-up school on 7.3 acres of land that was left over from integration. Over the years they have renovated the facility, which has become the Tangipahoa Parish African American Heritage Museum and Veterans Archive. He could be found there on most days working in whatever capacity in which he was needed--from acting as tour guide to researching records to taking on kitchen duty. He also served his community in other ways. He was a member of the advisory board for North Oaks Hospital and served as the first Black councilman for District 3 in the city of Hammond.

He later served as an assistant to State Representative Henry ``Tank'' Powell and was a founding member of the 2nd Saturday breakfast group--a group which invites members of the community to gather monthly regardless of racial and social divides to discuss issues of concern to the community. He was a member of the Masonic Order Prince Hall affiliation, the past worshipful master of Oak Grove Lodge #117 in Hammond and a grand officer of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Lodge for the State of Louisiana. George Perkins was a man of many talents and music was his passion. He wrote and produced many songs including ``Cryin' in the Streets''--his No. 1 hit. It sold over 1 million copies and provided him the opportunity to perform at the Apollo Theater. During that time, he performed all over the South: Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, and all through North and South Carolina. He had the No. 3 record in New York, which was quite an accomplishment for a down-home Southern R & B record.

"Cryin' In The Streets had spent 12 weeks on the Billboard R & B charts, rising as high as No. 12 all over the country. The Musical Tribute featured many independent artists such as National Recording Artist, The Veal Brothers, Jarmain Hawthorne, The Perkins Family Choir, Gospel Truth of Baton Rouge,LA, U'Nique, Resurrection Restoration Ministries Praise Team, Unity Praise Team, Lil' Blessings, Rose Pittman and other soloists, groups, and choirs to show their love that Mr. Perkins had for his community. The Showers Family The Showers, the family gospel group has earned En-Sound and Rhythm of Gospel Awards and sang on BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel, the gospel music equivalent of appearing on Soul Train or American Bandstand. In the wake of the group’s new single, “Better,” JGM’s Bob Marovich talked with Regina Showers about the group’s evolution from hometown heroes to national recognition.

The Louisiana-born siblings have sung together since they were knee high to a duck, but they did not record their debut album until 2009. Released independently, Hear My Prayer garnered plenty of attention from radio announcers, from JGM’s predecessor, The Black Gospel Blog, and gospel music enthusiasts who immediately likened them to another group of gospel singing siblings—the Winans.

Despite the plaudits, the Showers found that the road to recognition was not an easy one to travel. “There was more we had to learn about the music business,” Regina acknowledged, “but we knew that if the Lord did it for other groups, he would do it for us.”
