Here are some tips for cold weather tailgating! Cold temps, freezing wind-chill and hypothermia-risking weather are no match for extreme tailgaters and their bags of tricks. When Jack Frost shows up to the party, masters of the parking-lot pilgrimage don’t call it a day; they turn up the heat and call it Game Day! BY CARRIE ANTON

GIVE FOOD A HELPING HAND: Making food easy to eat is essential when dining in the elements. Tailgaters’ hands will be wrapped in gloves and mittens, which can be a challenge when using utensils. Serve up foods such as kabobs, burgers, sausages and bowls of soups, stews and chilies (since spoons are still doable), none of which need bare hands to eat. CREATE COMFORT A touch of ambiance here and there can go a long way toward adding warmth to an outdoor party space. That doesn’t mean you need to break out the tiki torches and inflatable palm trees to trick your guests into thinking they’re in a warmer climate. LAP OF LUXURY: Offer fleece, wool or faux-fur blankets in team colors for snuggling up under both before and during the big game.

LAYER YOUR LAYERS: Wearing lots of thick clothing may be warm but may make it hard to move. Be smart about your layers, and you won’t have to feel bogged down by your attire. You need three basic layers: The closest layer to your body should be made up of a material that wicks away moisture, keeping you dry. Wicking garments are typically made of synthetic materials.

HOT STUFF: Have disposable hand warmers on hand to give to your guests. Instruct them to wear the warmers in their pockets, gloves and shoes to get things really heated up. MAKE A MOVE: Sitting around is no way to warm up. Instead, start up a game of catch, cornhole or other physical activity to get the heart pumping and the blood moving. HEADS UP: Sometimes staying dry is the best way to stay warm, so an overhead defense is essential. Tents, canopies and awnings often used for sun protection in warm weather can also be a barrier from the rain, sleet and snow that often come with cold temps.

The next layer is used to trap and hold warm air. Look for layers made of wool and down or synthetics. On very cold days, you may want to do multiple middle layers.

CENTRAL WARMTH: When you simply need extra heat, a number of options are available. The most obvious is your grill. Invite guests to gather ’round for a group thaw. If you’re the type of grill master who doesn’t like too many cooks in the “kitchen,” consider a portable, lidded fire pit, where guests can huddle around the bonfire before the ballgame begins. Or, why not go for heated centerpieces on folding tables. Mini propane options, similar to the larger variety used by restaurants with outdoor seating, provide heat that can’t be beat.

EXTREMES AND EXTREMITIES: Heat can easily escape through your head, hands and feet, so keep them under cover. Pay special attention to your feet. If they get wet and cold, you’ll feel the same way. Apply the layering rules to your feet, using waterproof shoes or boots as your outer protection.

Wear Your Warmth The clothing you wear is the only thing standing between you and frigid temps.

Water- and wind-resistant materials make up the last layer. The goal is to protect against cold-weather wind, rain, sleet and snow so that your middle and inner layers can remain dry and comfy.

GEAR: If tailgating is your time to imbibe, you’ll need gear that not only keeps you warm but also serves your day’s purpose. Look for gloves and mittens where a can- or bottle holding koozie is built right in. Your hand will stay warm while your beverage stays chilled. Cold weather can add a cool element to tailgating in the elements. After all, a party is all about the food you serve, the atmosphere you create, and the attire required. Keep safety first, and the weather will only add to your tailgating talents!

Originally a seventh-round pick out of Vanderbilt in the 2014 NFL Draft, Hal joined the Texans as a cornerback and signed a four-year, $2.28 million contract. However, his tenure in the secondary was partially shortened due to being a healthy scratch, as well as the addition of first-round cornerback Kevin Johnson. Instead of releasing Hal, however, the Texans coaching staff switched him to safety, which is where he made the biggest impact. Hal was named the starting strong safety during the 2015 season after Quintin Demps suffered a hamstring injury. In his place, the former Vanderbilt cornerback notched two interceptions in one game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and scored his first career touchdown. Hal switched to free safety and remained the starter during the 2016-17 seasons. He was set to enter the 2018 season as the starter once again but was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The Houston Texans safety was originally diagnosed last spring after experiencing blurry vision in practice. He was placed on the Non-Football Injury list and immediately began his treatment. Almost surprisingly, Hal went through cancer treatment but opted out of chemotherapy. Instead, he started with a medication called Rituxan and then started researching various natural methods for healing his body. Hal added yoga to his routine, quit drinking hard alcohol, and added multiple other programs to his week. "Hyperbaric chamber, acupuncture two times a week, Vitamin C IV two times a week, working out, eating right. I did so much to get back on the field, and to keep myself healthy. I didn't want to get sick. That was the main reason, and football was the second reason." Hal made his return to action during the week seven victory over Jacksonville, tallying one tackle before injuring his shoulder and missing the rest of the game. NFL STATEMENT ON COLIN KAEPERNICK WORKOUT

W

e are disappointed that Colin did not appear for his workout. He informed us of that decision at 2:30 pm today along with the

public. Today's session was designed to give Colin what he has consistently said he wants – an opportunity to show his football readiness and desire to return to the NFL. Twenty-five (25) clubs were present for the workout, and all 32 clubs, their head coaches, general managers, and other personnel executives would have received video footage of the interview and workout, shot by the Atlanta Falcons video crew. It is important to note the following: As stated above, more than three-fourths of NFL clubs were present for today's workout. The NFL made considerable effort to work cooperatively with Colin's representatives. We invited his agent to suggest questions for the interview. Yesterday, when Colin's representatives said he wanted to bring his own receivers to the workout, we agreed to the request. In addition, Coach Hue Jackson discussed with Colin's agent what drills would be run at the workout so that Colin would know what would be expected of him. When Nike, with Colin's approval, requested to shoot an ad featuring Colin and mentioning all the NFL teams present at the workout, we agreed to the request. We sent Colin's representatives a standard liability waiver based on the waiver used by National Invitational Camp at all NFL Combines and by NFL clubs when trying out free agent players. At noon today, Colin's representatives sent a completely rewritten and insufficient waiver.

MAN VS. BEAR

Premieres Wednesday, December 4 9 PM ET/PT

F

or thousands of years, Grizzly Bears have stood at the top of the evolutionary food chain with unchallenged dominance. Now for the first time ever, humans will be entering the bears’ territory and take them on in a competition like never attempted. MAN VS. BEAR, an all-new competition series pitting humans against powerful Grizzlies, premieres Wednesday, December 4 at 9 PM ET/PT on Discovery. Each week, three Grizzlies – Bart, Honey Bump and Tank – will take on three new human competitors at their Utah sanctuary to test the limits of strength, speed and stamina. All challenges will be based on the bears’ natural instincts as well as predatory skills and actions – whether it’s engaging in a monumental game of “tug of war” or using brute force to roll giant logs. Bart is the largest, most powerful grizzly on the mountain with no other bears matching his

strength and versatility. Topping the pack as the fastest is Honey Bump, who is the only female on Bear Mountain. She brings a level of ferocity and predatory instinct that her male counterparts cannot beat. Bart and Honey Bump were orphaned as cubs and discovered by an Alaska State Trooper. After a nationwide search for a loving home for the rescued cubs, they were adopted by caretakers Doug and Lynne Seus. Along with Tank – known for his voracious appetite – the Seus’ have raised and cared for all three bears for two decades on a sprawling section of protected land. Each episode will include five distinct challenges inspired by what bears do naturally in the wild, pushing these brave men and women to their absolute limits. In the final round, the top two competitors will come face-to-face with Bart, who stands 8 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 1,400 pounds. The human competitor who earns the most points of the day will be named champion. But the competition isn’t over yet. At the end of the season, the top three competitors with the most points will return one more time for the super-human showdown against the bears. “Competing against bears is both scary and exciting,” said Ira, an MMA fighter and competitor from Dallas, Texas. It’s competing against the unknown. This is a completely new challenge for me. The series will also include blow-by-blow commentary from on-the-ground experts Brandon Tierney and Casey Anderson. Brandon is an Emmy Award-winning sports commentator and host of CBS Sports Radio’s nationally syndicated show Tiki and Tierney. He’s no stranger to live sporting events – hosting game

coverage for the New York Knicks and serving as a commentator for college basketball for the last 20 years. Casey is a wildlife expert with 25 years of experience and has lived with bears nearly his entire life. After graduating college, he became a wildlife filmmaker and expert on animal biology and behavior. He’s also the founder of the Montana Grizzly Encounter and has rescued seven bears from inhumane captivity situations. Grizzlies are extremely clever and lightning fast animals. Do these humans stand a chance? And will the humans be able to prove that they’re the ultimate predators…or simply prey? In addition to watching the series on Discovery, viewers can stream new episodes each week on the Discovery GO app. Viewers can also get to know the bears and discover more about their lives on Bear Mountain. And while learning more about these fiercely talented grizzlies, viewers are encouraged to find out which bear matches their own personality with an interactive quiz. Viewers can join the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #Man Vs Bear and follow Discovery on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for the latest updates. MAN VS. BEAR is produced for Discovery Channel by Kinetic Content, a Red Arrow Studios company, with Chris Coelen, Eric Detwiler, Vincent Cariati, Steve Kaufman, Paul Lima and Karrie Wolfe as executive producers. For Discovery Channel, Joseph Boyle and Bill Howard are executive producers and Jessica Mollo is associate producer.

MIZ TIFFANY

Tiffany "Miz Tiffany" Coleman-McGee is a dynamic multi-

genre songwriter, international recording artist, model, actress, motivational speaker, author, radio personality, and television show producer/host. She is a native and resident of Jackson, Mississippi and a first-generation graduate of Tougaloo College (B.A. Psychology) and the University of Southern Mississippi (Master of Library and Information Science). Her first children’s book publication is entitled “Hippos Downtown!” “I Ain’t Preaching to the Choir,” and “I'm Souled,” are stand-out tracks featured on her debut EP entitled, “I Ain’t Preaching to the Choir.” A Christian HipHop (CHH) interpretation of the Great Commission, Miz Tiffany echoes Jesus who himself challenged the church to stop preaching to believers and take it to the streets where the greatest need lives. Recalling that she wrote and illustrated her first lyrics in the form of riddles at age seven then inspired by ‘90’s era music artists and groups like Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Salt-n-Pepa, Lauryn Hill, Da Brat, and Missy Elliot, she wrote her first lyrics just four years later. It was that hot summer morning that I realized, “I can rap my poetry.” By age 18, after being introduced to studio recording by a fresh local artist, “Cali” [California], Miz Tiffany was ready to tap into the gift and calling placed on her life. But she wasn’t the only one who realized her identity in Christ, so did God’s age-old enemy. After a near death experience from an auto accident, Miz Tiffany sustained a brain injury, spinal cord injury, and several other internal injuries. Although she could not speak and was not sure what had happened to her, the Lord encouraged her to sing. While in a coma in ICU for 3 days with a brain-dead prognosis, Miz Tiffany attributes Jesus’ voice and instruction to guiding her back to life, as she was told to sing ‘Victory is Mine’ again and again. “That experience took me to a higher level in Christ who anointed me for such a time as this. I know firsthand, the resurrection, healing and restorative power of God. Today, I can do everything medical professionals said, I would never do. Although I’ve gone on to receive an advanced academic degree, ministry and music are my passions, the ones God ordained me to do.” She plans to walk boldly into her destiny trusting God because He knows the way. Miz Tiffany's trend-setting work has broken traditions within the four walls of the church as well as introduced a unique multi-cultural and ethnic style of music and ministry to urban and hip-hop communities across the United States. She has shared the stage with other renowned gospel recording artists including Canton Jones, Jekalyn Carr, Paul Porter, JJ Hairston, The Canton Spirituals, Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC's, Evelyn Turrentine-Agee, and Keith Wonderboy Johnson among many others. Miz Tiffany can be heard on ReverbNation, Hip-Hop / Gospel radio stations, and other venues across the world. She is Mississippi's first multi-award-winning Christian Hip Hop Music Artist. Through digital distribution, sales, and internet/terrestrial radio, Tiffany’s music has independently reached six continents and sold across markets in Europe, Australia, Canada, United States and beyond. Miz Tiffany’s single and video for “I Ain’t Preaching to the Choir” were entered into the first round “for your consideration” for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards and her album was entered in four categories for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards as well as the final round ballot for Rap / Hip Hop Gospel CD of the Year for the 34th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards. What Is an Influencer? When it comes to influencers, there are many misconceptions surrounding the theory. Some people still believe only special people can be influencers or only people in a certain industry can be successful at influencing.

Bruno Mirchevski

It seems like everyone is becoming an influencer these days, doesn’t it? Becoming an influencer is an ongoing and huge trend, and there is no wonder why so many people join the movement daily. Years ago, the world did not even think this kind of marketing will appear yet here we are having an influencer marketing industry worth at least $5 billion. The popularity of influencer marketing is growing due to the fact it does work. It is not a myth, but a real way of advertising and engaging audiences in order to make a profit. It is fun; it is easy and can pay off good! The History of Influencer Marketing In the folklore of advertising, it is nearly impossible to say who started the influencer marketing first. Some cultures believe it is the Queen and the Pope that endorsed the medicine first, raising awareness of it among people who did not believe in medicine yet. This makes both of them the earliest influencer the history knows of. After this instance, there are many similar cases of influential people, today called influencers. The difference

Although there are bits of truth in these speculations, the simple truth would be that influencers are ordinary people with their own audience that happen to trust them. Thus, what makes those influencers successful is their ability to promote something efficiently, whether it is a product, service or simply a mindset. And that is something not everybody knows how to do. Influencers are called influencers because they influence someone’s life, the way of thinking and even living. Almost every industry involves influencer marketing, which only means they all promote and sell different things in very different ways. In short, influencer marketing is a marketing model which has its focus placed on people as social media rather than a platform. From here, we can conclude; an influencer is a person that has an ability to influence other people in a very effective way. Due to this ability, the influencers must basically ‘’make’’ people do and buy things; brands often invest in such people to advertise their products with a purpose of targeting the right audience and earn money off it. The influencers, the people who implement this idea to others to buy and think something, are getting paid based on different contracts and terms. To become an influencer is not hard these days. However, to be successful in what you promote you need to follow certain steps that will lead you exactly where you want to be.

between the past and what is happening now is that the influential marketing transferred from offline marketing to social media. Some of the platforms, such as Instagram, are leading platforms in influencer marketing, allowing those who have this profession to create their own personal brand, therefore businesses.

The Pros and Cons of Social Networking by Elise Moreau

S

ocial networking has changed the way we communicate, do business, get our daily news fix and so much more. But is it really all it's cracked up to be?

That depends on who you talk to and how you're using it. A site like Facebook could serve as an opportunistic launching pad for a new business owner, or it could be an inescapable source of negative peer pressure for a young teen. There are pros and cons to everything in life — and that includes our social networking habits.

GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESS OWNERS

There are a lot of upsides to social networking. Ask yourself how you can take more advantage of the following whenever you decide to check out your favorite social networks.

Business owners and other types of professional organizations can connect with current customers, sell their products and expand their reach using social media. There are lots of entrepreneurs and businesses out there that thrive almost entirely on social networks and wouldn't even be able to operate without it.

CONNECT TO OTHER PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD

GENERAL FUN AND ENJOYMENT

One of the most obvious pros of using social networks is the ability to instantly reach people from anywhere. Use Facebook to stay in touch with your old high school friends who've relocated all over the country, start a Google Duo chat with relatives who live halfway around the world, or meet brand new people on Twitter from cities or regions you've never even heard of before.

You must admit that social networking is just plain fun sometimes. A lot of people turn to it when they catch a break at work or just want to relax at home. Since people are naturally social creatures, it's often quite satisfying to see comments and likes to show up on our own posts, and it's convenient to be able to see exactly what our friends are up to without having to ask them directly.

EASY AND INSTANT COMMUNICATION

The Cons of Social Networking

Now that we're connected wherever we go, we don't have to rely on our landlines, answering machines or snail mail to contact somebody. We can simply open our laptops or pick up our smartphones and immediately start communicating with anyone on platforms like Twitter or one of the many social messaging apps available.

It's no secret that there's also a dark side to social networking. You may want to ask yourself how you can minimize the following cons of social networking as much and as often as possible.

The Pros of Social Networking

REAL-TIME NEWS AND INFORMATION DISCOVERY Gone are the days of waiting around for the six o'clock news to come on TV or for the delivery boy to bring the newspaper in the morning. If you want to know what's going on in the world, all you need to do is jump on social media.

PRIVACY ISSUES So much is shared online these days that issues over privacy is becoming an increasingly big concern. Whether it's a question of social sites owning your content after it's posted or becoming a target after sharing your geographical location online. Focus on using social media for all the good points but be wary of falling victim to the dark side of an online interaction.

Chocolate Cherry Bundt Cake Recipe for the Holiday’s

Are you living out the Dream of someone else’s?

T

oo often we do what our parents, our families or our teachers want us to do. Parents who usually want the best for their children sometimes impose their dreams for their kids onto them and, in the process, cause difficult pain for their kids who feel like they are living some else’s life and not their own.

Aren't we all living the dreams and hopes of others? Well, let’s be honest, most of us are! Most people share the same desires in life. Most people make up their hopes and dreams from people around them, what made them happy, or what made them successful. Possibly, you would do the same as your parent or love one, but after a while we find that we're no longer happy or not like we thought we would be!

At other times, kids will do things they think will win the approval of their parents by sacrificing what they want for what they think their parents want for them. I’ve met too many people who are doing what their parents wanted them to do simply because they wanted to win the approval of their parents. Are you afraid of letting someone other than yourself down if you change direction? A parent, a teacher, a mentor, a grandparent – it could be anybody. But instead, you’re worried how someone is going to respond and what they’re wanting. Did you really want that as a career or were you afraid of letting someone down? Maybe you saw someone who was successful at something (usually financially) and you decided that you wanted to do the same thing. However, it wasn’t because you would love the work, but because you wanted that person’s lifestyle! You’re trying to live their dream and it doesn’t fit. You Feel Like You’re in the Right Career Niche, but Things Seem Sluggish or Stalled. This may be a sign that you are doing things in the way that your parents or some other influential person did them.

You can live your own dreams and hopes, once you separate yourself from what others dream of you to be or do. Who told you that you "can only live out the dreams and desires of others"? And why do you believe that? Perhaps what you need is to spend time exploring what you really want out of life. Do you have any goals at all other than pleasing others? And if peoplepleasing really makes you happy, would you consider a career where that is the entire purpose? Hotel and restaurant management, customer service, tech support....do any of those make you sit up and see a light at the end of the tunnel?

If not, then you really have some digging to do to find your own heart.

You might have the same dream as others and you may not, however, just think about the course of your life and decide; don't blindly walk living out the dreams of others. Even if you want to fulfill the dream of what someone else has for you, make sure it’s something that you wanted to do.
