Dear Reader First, allow me to thank God for another great edition of Exposure Spotlight Magazine. It gives me great pleasure to welcome and thank David and Tamela Mann, Jonathan Butler, Anthony Evans, Bryan Popin, Bishop Terry Williams, Evangelist Judy Wynne, Cathy Toliver, Carlton McConnell of Round the Clock Entertainment and so many more! As I learned as a small child, be careful in calling names because you may forget someone, please charge it to my mind and not my heart. I am grateful to the businesses, staff and everyone that played a big part in making this edition a very special one! Last but not least, how can I say thanks to Ms. Linda Osterman of TK Promotions, I will never forget the telephone call after the Stellar Awards. I greatly appreciate you and your staff to the upmost who made all of the interviews possible. May God continue to be with you through all of your endeavors, growth, and success. If you have a dream or a vision, fulfill that dream, no matter what anyone else may say. Persistence and consistence is the key to SUCCESS! Remember, your actions is what makes a difference. One of my favorite bible scripture, “Faith without works is dead.” In order to receive anything, you must put something into it. In conclusion, thanks to you, the reader who has taken an interest in Exposure Spotlight Magazine to bring you news and highlights in today's media.

REACH BEYOND THE STARS If you are passionate about a goal or dream of yours then don't stop until you achieve it. Do whatever it takes. Persisting in the face of adversity is what builds champions. 5. Goals give our lives meaning. "The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score." –Bill Copeland Setting goals and then working ridiculously hard to achieve them sets you on the path of living a purpose driven life. 6. True success is all about working towards meaningful goals and dreams.

Achieving a goal is a wildly exhilarating thing. If you’re flirting with the idea of giving up, you could be throwing away something wonderful? There’s going to be anxiety about uncertainty and fear about failing, but push yourself to keep going. After all, you’ll never know how close you are to succeeding if you quit now. Here are 10 quotes on goals. 1. Never have a lack of goals. 2. Vision is everything. "If you don’t know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else." –Lawrence J. Peter Highly successful organizations and individuals all have an extremely clear vision of where they are going. 3. Dream enormously big. "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars." –Les Brown

"A goal is not always meant to be reached; it often serves simply as something to aim at." –Bruce Lee 7. Stop playing small. "The great danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark." –Michelangelo There are no benefits what so ever from playing small and setting your aim too low. 8. Where are you headed? "If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time." –Zig Ziglar If you don't set goals for your life then it's almost certain that you will be very disappointed with your results. Aiming at nothing is setting you up to achieve nothing. 9. Stay focused at all times. "Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal." –Henry Ford

Nothing has benefited my life more than shooting for the moon and dreaming enormously big dreams. When you dream big and shoot for the moon, you are forcing yourself to get out of your comfort zone.

When we take our eyes off of our goals, anxiety, worry, and doubt immediately begin to take over. Stay focused on what matters most at all times. Picture yourself achieving your goals and what that feels like instead of the obstacles that you will experience along the way.

4. Persistence makes all the difference. "Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world. Set a goal and don’t quit until you attain it. When you do attain it, set another goal, and don’t quit until you reach it. Never quit." –Bear Bryant

10. It's never too late. "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream." –C.S. Lewis

Exclusive Interview with Tamela & David Mann Tamela Mann, an American gospel singer, and actress, born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. By the age of 12, Tamela was singing in the church adult choir and was often selected to sing solos. Tamela‟s musical career began when she joined the multi-Grammy Awardwinning and double platinum gospel artist Kirk Franklin and the Family. She has also enjoyed collaborating and performing with artists such as Yolanda Adams, Mary J. Blige, Al Green, Celine Dion, R. Kelly and Fred Hammond. She went on to join the gospel musical cast of David E. Talbert as he directed the stage play He Say... She Say... But What Does God Say? Mann‟s passion for music has never diminished. She has recorded four highly acclaimed albums, including “The Master Plan,” which won the

2011 Dove Award for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Though an award winning project might cause some artists to feel pressure when they enter the studio to record their follow up album, Tamela just felt excited and motivated to take her music to another level, and she does just that on “Best Days.” “I take no glory. I take no merit for myself because it all comes from Him,” Mann says. “Everything that I am comes from Him. The Lord gives me words and the most fulfilling part is that I can plant a seed of joy and hope for people that I‟ve never met.” Among Tamela‟s favorite songs on the new album is “All to Thee.” “That is a worship song that says, „Less of me, more of thee, all the glory and all the honor belong to you.‟ The lyrics make

me cry because they remind me that it‟s me cry because they remind me that not about me,” she says. “It‟s all about it‟s not about me,” she says. “It‟s all Him and I just want to be able to give about Him and I just want to be able everything that I have to Him.” “Back to give everything that I have to Him.” in the Day Praise” is a nostalgic tune “Back in the Day Praise” is a nostalgic that takes Tamela back to her roots. tune that takes Tamela back to her “When I was growing up we‟d have a lot roots. “When I was growing up we‟d of tent revivals,” she says, “and it‟s have a lot of tent revivals,” she says, talking about all the things we did back “and it‟s talking about all the things we in the day and how when people would did back in the day and how when go to church they would kneel and pray. people would go to church they would It‟s a reminder of how we used to praise kneel and pray. She performed her No. 1 Gospel radio single and this year’s Stellar Award winning Urban Inspirational Single/Performance of The Year, “God Provides,” and performed “My World Needs You” with music hit maker Kirk Franklin on the show. Bad All By Myself.” She went on to act in the television series, Meet the Browns, where she was known for the role as Cora. Also, she starred in other movies such as Madea’s Family Reunion, Madea's Class Reunion, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Kingdom Come, and What's Done in the Dark. She has appeared on television shows including, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, BET Soundstage, the 1999 Grammy Awards, the Dove Awards, the United States of America World Olympics, Tyler Perry's House of Payne, and Madea Goes to Jail. Mann appeared in the 2012 film, “Sparkle,” which is a remake of the 1976 film, alongside with Whitney Houston and American Idol winner and R&B singer Jordin Sparks. She is currently filming, the exciting new TV show, Hanging With The Mann’s, which follows the dynamic couple as they cook-up delicious recipes in the kitchen and go on hilariously funny and wild adventures together. The reality show about their family, “It’s A Mann’s World,” premiered on BET. David and Tamela are devout Christians, and in this program are able to show how they have a funloving, balanced family, centered in godly principles and coping with reallife obstacles. On March 2017, Platinum Recording Artist, Tamela Mann received six awards including album, song, and artist of the year at the 32nd Annual Gospel Music Stellar Awards

“I am honored and humbled to be recognized by the Gospel Music Stellar Awards this year with these awards,” said Tamela. In addition to winning Artist of The Year, Tamela took home awards for Albertina Walker Female Vocalist of The Year, Producer of The Year (One Way), Traditional Female Vocalist of The Year, Traditional CD of The Year (One Way), and Urban Inspirational Single/Performance of The Year (“God Provides”). Tamela has released her new single, “Change Me.” The single release follows a string of No. 1 tracks, including her most recent charttopper, “God Provides.” Tamela set a historic personal and industry record as the first Gospel lead artist in Billboard Gospel radio chart history to score three consecutive No. 1's, from an album. The run of hits includes "Take Me To The King," "I Can Only Imagine," and "This Place” from her previous No. 1 album, Best Days. In addition to travelling and performing, David and Tamela Mann take over Tuesday nights! The Mann’s are back for a new season of Mann and Wife on Bounce TV, Tuesday night’s 9/8c, with back-to-back episodes. “The Live Experience.” Mann’s explosive songs "Father Can You hear Me" and "Take It To Jesus" can be heard in the movie and on the soundtrack album of Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

That positive, life-affirming attitude is not only the focal point of Tamela’s new album; it’s at the heart of everything she does. Tamela Mann has been blessed with a busy life filled with faith, family and a rewarding career. They also incorporate tips into “Hanging with the Mann’s,” a new cooking show the couple is co-hosting. They revel in the opportunity to work together on different projects. “We started out as best friends and we tell each other everything,” she says of what keeps her marriage strong. “Everything that we have accomplished has been together and it’s just really a blessing.” When we are home, we are involved in the church. “When we have activities, I’m the decorator.

I always decorate the fellowship hall. I really like being involved and I think it’s important because the pastors need laborers. They don’t just need members. As much as she loves being home, she also loves touring and ministering to people all over the world through her music. “That’s where I find my joy, when I can sing and minister to people,” she says, “because I see the hope and encouragement that it gives people. It’s something that I will do until I die. I will do this until the Lord calls me home because this is one sure way that I know I can tell people about Him so He can be glorified. I’ll never stop because I love it so much.”

Cathy (Editorial Assistant): How long have you been in the industry? David: We have been in the industry over twenty years. Independently, we started in September 2003. I’m more of an organizer. I wanted to make sure it is right for Tamela. Tamela: The thing with the reality show, we want it to be an encouragement to others. Our goal is to share with families to spend quality time together. David: Not texting, because you can’t engage with one another when you are texting.

Tamela & David: We have been together 29 years.

Tamela: For example, how can you ask to borrow money from a text?

Theresa: How did you get started with your own show/production company?

David: Yes, because when you ask me, I’m going to text you a picture of a dollar bill! (Everyone laughs) I can’t hear your heart through your text.

Tamela: It started with Music, independently. In 2005, we created our own label, Tillymann Music Group, which we have released several projects through. In 2005 my solo album, Gotta Keep Movin', was released. In 2007, the label released my first live album,

Music was our first baby, so we decided to start our own record label. However, I wanted to be a background singer.

Cathy: How were you able to bring other children from your previous relationship to your marriage? Tamela: Well, we were friends before marriage. I separated the two; I knew I loved him, so that made me love his children. First of all, I was a stepchild and I knew how it made me feel. The thing was to come together as one and not as this one is yours and this one is mine. It was a weird thing, but once

David decided what he wanted to do, if it was me that he wanted to be with. David: We saw the potential in each other; potential meets potential, here we are as one. Tamela: I treat Portia as if she is mine child. Until this day, I treat her with respect and I never made her feel like she was someone else child. I treated her like she is mine. We are judged by God for what we do, not what others do to us. I did a little search on step; a step is something you step on, so you don’t want anyone to feel like you are stepping on them. I really got a conviction and speaking with others, I learned to introduce them as my child because a child knows that and it makes them feel inferior. David: We make the children our priority, but Tamela is my first priority! Cathy: Were did you get your wisdom and you’re not ninety years old? Tamela: Well, both of us came from broken homes and had step parents. We didn’t want to put our children in the same predicament as ours.

David: We didn’t go through the baby momma drama. Growing up, I saw and heard so much abuse, I wanted to be different. Tamela: Our book is almost completed, “Divorce is Not an Option.” We are not quitting; I’m still in love with him, he’s like my boyfriend, he still gives me the goose bumps, and we do everything together. Faith and God is our foundation. Without God, we would not have made it. That’s what we want to share with others; there is hope and we want to show people consistency. David: People are looking for others that are consistent what they say and do. I am consistent to make sure she is good! Cathy: How did you go from Kirk Franklin to Tyler Perry? Tamela: Well, we were with Kirk for almost 9 years and it came to an end. David: The promoter who booked tours for us from The Family helped us meet Tyler Perry, who was a new writer at that time. David flew to Chicago and shared with Tyler that his wife doesn’t act, but sings. At that moment, we came as a package. She debuted in the stage play I Can Do

Bad All By Myself. She singed with her eyes closed. You could have just pushed her down. (Lol!) Theresa: Is this the end of the television show, “Meet the Browns?” David: Yes, we are moving on to new adventures. It was our rocket booster! Tamela: It wasn’t our decision, but the Lord allows things for a season. Definitely, it opened doors for other things. It was a great part of our journey. Cathy: How do you stay rooted? You have the warmest personality! Tamela: I really learned to keep still and trust God. It is All God! I am speechless, I’m happy to be in this place. Singing is my joy, my life; it makes me happy to share my gift. I’m thinking that the Lord is on the front row and I want to make him Happy! Cora was a set up, to get people to the concert. When you see me in concert, you get to see who Tamela Mann is. Theresa: You are an awesome singer and truly a gift from God. We can’t thank God enough for introducing us to Mr. & Mrs. David Mann! May God continue to bless you in many ways! EXPOSURE SPOTLIGHT

Joel Jones Music Ministry Makeover Choir

J

oel Jones Music Ministry Makeover Choir (JJ3MC) originated in 2009 from a music workshop sponsored by the Joel Jones Community Male Chorus entitled, “A Music Ministry Makeover.” The Joel Jones Music Ministry Makeover Choir is composed of a versatile group of dedicated spiritual worshippers. Each person brings a significant amount of energy and individuality to the group while uniting to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. The choir is a group of God fearing, highly anointed individuals from the southeastern region of Louisiana such as Ascension, Assumption, St. James, Iberville, St. Mary, Lafourche, and Terrebone parishes. The singers are from various churches and share a common knowledge of Jesus as their Savior and Lord. For seven years, JJ3MC has been serving God through songs and have touched the lives of many. Along with spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ in songs, the choir has provided an avenue which the members have reached into the community and lend a helping hand. The main purpose of the Joel Jones Music Ministry Makeover Choir (JJ3MC) is to spread the gospel through word and songs. Our message is inspiration, motivation and exhortation. Our mission is to reach those who are lost, revive those who are hurting and put purpose to our praise. In response to the overwhelming challenges presented by the floods of August 2016, we banded together to assist with the rescuing of people throughout the surrounding communities. Also, we collected cleaning supplies to help choir members who lost everything to begin the recovery process. A part two of our annual workshop musical was

We presented families with donations, such as gift cards, clothes and much more. JJ3MC has also participated helping the tornado cleanup and restoration in Assumption parish, Louisiana Mission of Mercy (LAMOM) health and dental expo in Baton Rouge and advocate for cancer patients. In 2016, it was an exciting year for our ministry in a way of recognition; we were asked to be featured artists then subsequently nominated and awarded Choir of the Year at both the NOLA gospel Awards in New Orleans and the Chosen Gospel Award in Ferriday, LA. JJ3MC is featured annually at the Versatile Entertainment’s Praise Fest on the Bayou, Juneteenth of Donaldsonville, Louisiana and the 88 Keys production’s Music Psychology Project. It is our hope that we continue to spread the gospel to all who would hear. We pray that as we use our voices and capabilities to be a blessing to others that HIS light shines so bright in us that others will want to get to know and develop a lifestyle that exemplifies our motto which is “Victorious Living”. Sophisticated Summer HAIRSTYLES Five recommended tips of having long or healthy hair. 1. Get frequent trims It may seem counterintuitive, but if you want long hair that's actually healthy, you need to get regular trims. Haircuts don't make your hair grow faster, they get rid of split ends that break your hair. "Eliminating the breakage gives the appearance that your hair is growing faster." After all, a split end that breaks can lead to your hair losing length — not to mention shine, volume, and smoothness. 2. Keep your scalp healthy. Think of your hair like a tree: If the soil and roots aren't taken care of, the tree can't grow tall and solid. "Hair growth starts with a healthy scalp. Keep your scalp healthy with a Hot Oil Treatment. 3. Eating the right foods. Having long, strong hair doesn't just depend on which products you put on your hair, it also depends on what you put into your body. "To promote hair growth, you need to 'feed' the hair from the inside," "Try increasing your protein intake with foods like fish, beans, nuts, and whole gains." 4. Stop abusing it with heat styling tools. The biggest culprit that's ruining your hair: damage from hot tools. If you must use heat, decrease the temperature and always using a heat protectant — otherwise, you risk damaging your locks, leading to breakage and frizz. 5. Add a vitamin to your morning routine. If your diet isn't supplying you with enough nutrition, a supplement could make a world of difference. "Look for a multivitamin that's formulated and labeled for Hair, Skin, and Nails such as biotin, vitamin C, and B vitamins that support hair health."

NEW ALBUM RELEASE

Born in Middletown, NJ, Bryan Popin was a piano protégé by his early teens. Later in his career, the legendary Stevie Wonder nicknamed him “Little Boy Wonder.” He has appeared with Bishop TD Jakes numerous times and was featured at both MegaFest and Bishop Jakes’ Pastors & Leader’s Conference. He’s written with R&B legend Chaka Khan, opened for Tye Tribbett, Israel Houghton, Deitrick Haddon, Tasha Page-Lockhart, Jermaine Dolly, Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp and even American Idol alum Danny Gokey to name a few. At the height of their popularity, Justin Timberlake’s *NSYNC recorded one of Popin’s songs for their multiplatinum album, Celebrity & performed the song during their final stadium world tour. Bryan Popin has had 3 Top 20 hits on the Billboard gospel radio chart & currently climbing the chart with a Top 10 hit single, “I GOT OUT”. With his sophomore release, I Got Out (Little Boy Wonder Music, Flaydo Music and Fuel Music), classically trained pianist and rising gospel star Bryan Popin steps into his musical calling to reach out and share the love, pain and encouragement taken straight from 24

his own experiences. A body of work that took almost three years to complete, the project was born out of Popin’s desire to assess his “next steps” after going through a series of difficult and unexpected life challenges that could have easily shaken his faith. He made a promise to God to not only be honest and transparent in sharing his struggles, but to ultimately be as intentional in celebrating his victories over all of them. I Got Out isn’t merely a title for this new musical offering, it also serves as the project’s prophetic theme that Popin hopes will connect with and encourage every listener. The title cut and chart-topping radio single “I Got Out” is a swingy congregational anthem with a contemporary edge that compels you to sing along. It features production from super-producer AyRon Lewis (Kirk Franklin, James Fortune, Bishop Paul Morton Jr.) and vocals from Pastor CeCe Winans’ Born Again Church Choir. The sonic urgency of the track can be attributed to its overwhelming back story. Four years ago, Popin’s musical career suffered an unexpected dry season. As with any financial setback, marital and familial tension began to set in. With a possible bankruptcy on the horizon, he was forced to place the property he and his family hoped to build their dream home and recording studio on up for sale. At the end of his proverbial rope and nowhere to look but up, Popin began to shift his energy and focus to serving others. “I found myself willing to let go of me and care more about others, helping others more and living a life with a heart to worship through my mess,” says Popin. “As soon as I stopped stressing about my situation and

knew God was going to work it out, the song “I Got Out” was birthed in my heart spiritually as a message of hope before I even really got out of the situation naturally.” The most exciting part of his testimony is that Popin shares this part of his story from his dream home and recording studio built on the very same property he almost had to sell. God did it, and yes, Popin got out! I Got Out is packed with additional personal testimony-driven songs. The album’s opening track “Step In The Name” will make you dance not only because of its infectious groove and assertive lyrics to “just let go” and “step into your miracle,” but because its inspiration came from a less than joyous time he and his wife had to go through. Popin explains, “My wife Susan couldn’t get pregnant for 10 years. It was a very trying time for me, but especially for my wife. Remaining joyful became more and more difficult.” Once Susan was able to get pregnant, she suffered several miscarriages and the couple faced further discouragement and depression in relation to their season of infertility. During this time, God dropped in Popin’s heart what he refers to as “this little melody of joy” that inspired the song. “To step – meaning dance, brought joy into our hearts and reminded us to praise our way through it. As God began to give my wife her joy back, the depression began to leave. Faith and hope began to surface, and then, she got pregnant,” Popin shares joyously. Five children later, it’s his hope that the song helps facilitate true joy in listeners’ dark places and becomes their soundtrack as they step/dance their way through any situation. “You’re Gonna Live Again (Bella’s Song)” is one of I Got Out’s more

contemplative tracks. It‟s a soaring worshipful ballad that originated out of a time when Popin‟s daughter Bella suffered a series of bullying incidents that escalated to a violent attack. As a father, he naturally wanted to defend and protect his daughter at all costs. The accompanying frustrations of seeing her suffer and authorities deal with the incidents was extremely difficult. As usual, God gave a song to encourage Popin and his family. He recalls, “It spoke to my family, my daughter and me. It reminded us that this season too will pass, that Bella would come out of this and continue to pursue her dreams. It wouldn‟t crush her, nor our family.” Popin‟s hope is that this song encourages listeners in the midst of overwhelming struggles in that very same way – that no matter what life has dealt you nor what someone has spoken over you… You‟re Gonna Live Again! As if life and the experiences that go with it aren‟t tough enough, it‟s no secret that life and specifically the music industry can take a toll on one‟s spirit. Popin has admittedly dealt with his own share of insecurities over the course of his journey. On “Favor and Mercy” he tackles these issues head-on in one of the album‟s most deeply innocent and personal songs. “All of my life I had to deal with the demons within that constantly told me I wasn‟t good enough, that I didn‟t have the right look, wasn‟t skinny enough, wasn‟t tall enough, or just wasn‟t perfect enough. That I couldn‟t sing like so and so, didn‟t have the coolest friends, the right relationships or know the right people. It also didn‟t really help that industry colleagues and so many others literally said: „There‟s no way you‟ll be able to do that,‟ „There‟s

no way that will happen,‟ „I just don‟t see how that can work! or even, “We just aren‟t sure where you fit and where to place you.‟” All of that created fear, it built room for doubt to live and a spirit that constantly said „There‟s no way God will or can use me.‟ It has been a continuous journey and a process, but I‟ve learned how to work through it all, and I‟ve learned to stay true to what God has called me to and what He has already done for me and that it‟s not what people say or think about me, but rather what He says about me. I‟ve learned how to not let it get me down and steal the best of me. Through the process of life, it is important to look back and take the time to be thankful for the good and even thankful for the bad and to simply say… favor and mercy please continue to follow me. That‟s the story behind this very personal song.” I Got Out features top notch collaborations with two of today‟s best gospel voices. BET Sunday Best Winner Tasha Page-Lockhart joins Popin on “Beautiful Savior,” an audacious cut with a sound that goes beyond the genre and musical expectations one might not usually associate with Tasha‟s vocal styling. After hearing Tasha minister arenasized fervor at a small church event they were both a part of, Popin knew in that moment that he had to have her on this song. “She was all heart and that‟s just what this song needed,” he recalls of their instant connection. Gospel and television superstar Tamela Mann rounds out the album with an updated soulful version of “Alright.” He‟s shared his music around the country in churches and before thousands. Popin has also had numerous television appearances

including a recent performance on BET‟‟s Joyful Noise, hosted by Tye Tribbett. A philanthropist and humanitarian, Popin especially lends his support to three notable charities. “The Sphinx Organization” is a national arts and youth development organization based in Detroit, Michigan dedicated to transforming lives through the power of diversity in classical music. “God Has Treasures Waiting For You!”

Evangelist Judy M. Bickham Wynne

Matthew 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all of these things shall be added unto you.” Superbowl Sunday 2017, unleashed a myriad of emotions in its viewers and an astounding victory for the New England Patriots---resulting in a 25-point comeback in the second half. Somebody on that New England team must have had some “mustard seed” faith. At least one person undoubtedly said, “I know it looks bad right now. We are losing by 25-points but it’s not over yet. We can still win.” You may find yourself in some difficult situations, but just know, it’s not over yet and you can still win. Sometimes, we look at the prosperity of others and wonder, when will it be my time? Friends are being promoted, getting married, being blessed and all you can say is, “Lord, when will it be my time.” You see beloved, what you don’t realize is that God is storing up treasures for you and when it is your time to shine, He will let you discover those treasures. Use that “mustard seed” faith and know that there are countless blessings waiting for you! Genesis 43:23 tells the story of Joseph and his brothers. The brothers of Joseph were surprised to money, Joseph refused to take it back claiming God put it there. God wants to place something good in your life. He wants to surprise you. Have you ever been surprised by God? Has God ever given you something so wonderful and so unexpected all you could do was simply smile and say, “Thank You Jesus!” Surprises are coming. One day you will look around and ask, “Where did all of this come from?” The answer is, God has just released your blessings. He has allowed you to discover your treasures. Even when conditions are challenging and difficult, even in your seasons of famine and lack, God is putting something remarkable into your life. He is investing in you. Imagine that. God is investing in you! You are important to God. You matter to God. Your health matters. Your marriage matters. Your life matters to God! The storage barrel in heaven is getting full on 26

your behalf. God is preparing something amazing for you and He is preparing you to receive your treasures. God is getting ready to surprise you. Psalms 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path.” Trust the Lord, seek His ways and make Him your Lord and Savior. Wait on God. Joseph had to wait on God to move him from the pit to the “penthouse.” He didn’t give up. God put people in Joseph’s life to help him. When you are in trouble, God will send people to help you. If the enemy sent people to hurt you, then God can and will send people to help you. If the enemy sent people who broke you---broke your heart, broke your spirit, then God will send people to bless you and build up your broken life. Don’t focus so much on the people in your past who failed you, but focus on the people God is sending your way, in your present, to bless you. Saul persecuted David but God sent Jonathan to help him. God will remember your good works and reward you. You shall be put in your rightful place. God will scatter the plans of your enemies and they will live to see you blessed. Trust God and remember the words of Pastor Waweru: “There’s no pit so deep that God can’t help you. There’s no desert so dry that God cannot dig a well. There’s no prison so hard that God cannot open its doors. There’s no storm so wild that God cannot say, “Peace, be still.” There is no sin that God cannot forgive; no sickness that God cannot heal; no need, no bondage, no habit, no enemy that God cannot defeat. And there is no curse that God cannot reverse.” Is there anything too hard for God? He is the true and living God. He is Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End and He will take care of you. Open up your heart today beloved. Accept Him into your life and He will soon authorize you to “discover your treasures.” May God keep you and may you allow Him to wrap His loving arms around you. Never forget, God has treasures waiting just for you! As you journey throughout your day, may our Heavenly Father continue to bless you real, real good.

Domestic Violence Has a Face---Is it Yours? Evangelist Judy M. Bickham Wynne

According to recent statistics, a woman is assaulted in the

United States every nine seconds. Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten. Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family. These statistics are alarming, to say the least, but what is even more staggering is that domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women---more than car accidents, muggings and rapes combined. Every day in the U. S., more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. Domestic violence victims lose nearly eight million days of paid work per year in the U. S. alone---the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs! Domestic violence has a face---is it yours? Unfortunately, it was the face of Elissa Boudreaux. She was a long-time victim of abuse and decided to tell her story to help others. Elissa Boudreaux’s Story: I am a 24 year survivor of domestic abuse of every kind. I have had to fight from the age of 14 to 38 with men who didn’t care about me because I didn’t really care about myself. As a child, life experiences taught me that violence was acceptable. I hid behind a mask for years, taking abuse from every relationship, even family and friends. It was a vicious cycle of pleasing others while struggling to find the “good” in myself. One abusive relationship went as far as a proposal on Face book Live. I ended the relationship but afterwards, felt embarrassed and lost when I had to face family and friends. He showered me with flowers, gifts, trips and his charm. It wasn’t until I decided to move in with him that I started seeing the issues that were so familiar to me. My stomach would turn because I recognized the abusive signs so plainly. I had no other choice but to leave. There was no physical abuse in this relationship, but domestic violence is not only physical, as most people think; it can also be psychological, emotional, sexual, financial and verbal. He was psychologically and verbally abusive in the worst way. I felt tortured and wanted to know why “crazy” had attached itself to me and just wouldn’t let go. I started questioning myself. What was I wearing that attracted the worst of the worst? I believe the last abusive relationship was a test from God and I know I passed. That’s why I decided to tell my story. “Why Does Crazy Seem to Find Me?” I am now on a deep quest to know and understand why. Although I am still writing, God is guiding my steps. I am amazed at what I went through, but even more amazed that I survived.

I started a non-profit organization in 2012 called X-Posed Domestic Violence Organization. Our goal is to raise awareness and establish social norms that make domestic violence unacceptable. We have developed networks of leaders and provide education and resources to the community. In 2016, I also formed Lotus Worldwide Consulting, LLC. Our goal is to expose the silent killer of abuse by educating employers and employees. We offer educational based seminars, webinars, workshops, motivational speaking sessions, advocacy assistance, individual sessions, consultations and coaching. It is my personal mission to make a difference in the lives of others by sharing my story. I am committed to affecting change through education, advocacy and activism. I want to inspire those directly and indirectly shaken by domestic continue the fight in this Anti-Domestic Violence Movement--the freedoms I have so longed for. Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help. Don’t suffer in silence. Reach out to someone in your community. Don’t be afraid. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) Remember, domestic violence has a face---don’t let it be yours? Even so, he’ll be the first to admit feeling depleted prior to arriving at that inspirational outcome as he struggled to stay on fire for his faith amidst the rigors of concurrently trying to embrace an entirely new community filled mostly with folks who don’t share similar beliefs. “I was at a place where I felt like I was going through the motions and I didn’t feel fully alive,” he uncovers. “I had to get to a place where I started to understand that God’s truth had to genuinely become a part of my existence for me to feel alive again. Over the years, it was sometimes very easy for me to put on what I needed to be for the sake of a career, for the sake

of my name and for the sake of holding everything up. But putting on what you need to be rather than what you’re really going through is exhausting. As I fully embraced authenticity, vulnerability and honesty, they literally felt like a defibrillator for my spiritual heart and that’s the point when I was able to come Back To Life.” Given his background as a dynamic worship leader in circles as vast as Dallas’ Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship (spearheaded by his world-renown father Dr. Tony Evans), his family’s “Kingdom Family Conference” and “FerVent” Tours (with his sister, best-selling author and lead in the box office smash “War Room,” Priscilla Shirer), solo concerts and Judah Smith’s City Church in L.A., audiences already familiar with that praise tradition are sure to latch onto the new collection. And since this type of music played such an integral role in fueling Evans’ renewal, Back To Life really is an authentic portrait of his reality over the last couple of years, which alongside the vulnerability and honesty he conveys throughout the entire collection, is likely to be a vital shock to the system of anyone else who may have been

sleepwalking through their faith, while simultaneously laying the groundwork for his forthcoming batch of even grittier “heart songs.” “Back To Life is a collection of worship songs derived from an experience I had in authenticity, vulnerability and honesty and I hope that‟s exactly what listeners hear,” he reiterates. I don‟t ever want to get up on a stage or even go out to a dinner and put on something that is not really me or who I am. I‟m hoping people hear how those three things have brought me back to life and that they are encouraged to do the same. As much as people hear Anthony the worship leader or see me on stage wherever with whomever, there is also a side of me that is raw, gritty and longs for interactions with no facades. Sometimes you have to rough up a surface in order for something to stick. A lot of my life has had to be roughed up in certain areas, but that‟s what makes the lesson life changing. I can‟t wait for people to hear this side of my soul, and even past this album, the music that‟s coming will showcase more of that honest/life experience side.” Much of Evans‟ inspiration from that mindset comes out from the

personal relationships and professional experiences he‟s had outside the church‟s four walls, which include studio work with the illustrious likes of Cee-Lo Green, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, the “Glee” soundtracks and a return to “The Voice” for three seasons as a talent producer. Even though, it‟s been a few years since appearing on that very show so many of the industry connections and life lessons remain with the singer/songwriter to this very day. “Christina Aguilera looked me in the face and said „you can be doing so much more,‟ and not „more‟ meaning „Christian music is small,‟ but „the scope of you is broader than Christian music.‟ I also had Jewel tell me that faith was just the tip of the iceberg of what she saw in me. She sensed there was way more underneath the surface that she as someone who isn‟t immersed in church culture could connect to if only I would tell more about “what else is going on”. These were lifechanging moments for me and what got me moving down that road as I started shaping and selecting the songs for these next two records.” Perhaps it‟s no surprise that the sonic diversity throughout Back To Life is both a much needed breath of fresh air within modern worship and something that could very well compete with Coldplay, One Republic, Drake, The Chainsmokers or any trend going on in the mainstream right now. Evans gives much of the credit to all-star producer Max Stark, who outside of working on his 2014 project Real Life/Real Worship, had no previous experience in Christian music and therefore was able to bring a completely unbiased ear to the job.

sought after vocal arrangers, producers and contractors in Hollywood whose worked with Barbra Streisand, Celine, Sam Smith and Mariah on down, alongside a slew of background singers with credits spanning Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Patti LaBelle, Jennifer Hudson and Jonny Lang. Back To Life also just so happened to be recorded in the same studio as Frank Sinatra‟s “My Way”, Elvis Presley‟s “Love Me Tender,” which surely added at least a little extra inspiration by osmosis. As for the songs themselves (including personally penned selections, co-writes with Krissy Nordoff, Cindy Morgan and Martha Munizzi, plus a songwriting contribution from Kirk Franklin, among others), the tone is most certainly directed vertically, but with an unconventional, stereotypeshattering mindset starting with the title track. “Like many artists, I tend to get overwhelmed with emotions. The reason I chose that song was because authenticity is such a big part of me. The bridge says „resentment, depression and all anxiety, they have no power over me. Addiction, strongholds and every disease, they have no power over me.‟ I‟ve never heard a Christian song talk about those things, but in my L.A. conversations with friends and associates, you hear about addiction and anxiety all the time. That‟s a truthful way to tie in what I‟ve experienced and what‟s been so life-giving to me from daily conversations into a worship environment.”
