THE SLOWER SEASON IS HERE

I feel the pull of the slower season tugging at my heartstrings, inviting me outside to savor the last days of summer and take in the abundance that the long days and warm weather have provided.

I find myself contemplating the season of gratitude. How is it that we’ve let society tell us that gratitude is just for a season? Why is it that we need to be reminded by a holiday to allow gratitude to fill our hearts?

I’ve made it a practice to be still, notice, and feel grateful whenever I have the opportunity. Lately, I’ve been appreciating all the wildflowers along the roadside, shining their light with reckless abandon. No one planted them. No one watered them. And nobody told them it was okay to grow into big, beautiful waves of color across desolate roadways. But they persevered.

I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude for the response of those in my spiritual community who have stepped up to shine their light by sharing their stories on the following pages. I hope you’ll find something here that resonates with you.

I want this magazine to be a resource for people starting on the spiritual path, and lift us all into the spotlight so that we may grow in abundance like the wildflowers.

CARD READING a seasonal

I’m so excited to share this seasonal card reading. I selected the Goddess and Sirens oracle deck, and got three cards that popped out while shuffling.

NUIT (EXPANSIVENESS)

Nuit represents expansiveness, unlimited possibilities, and the potential for growth and new beginnings.

SEKHMET (REDUCTION)

Sekhmet is a wonderful warrior, signifying strength, power, and the need to confront and channel your inner warrior.

JEANNE D’ARC (FAITH)

The Jeanne D'Arc card represents faith, leadership, trusting your inner guidance, and acting on your passions, even when facing opposition or doubt.

It's interesting having expansiveness and reduction come in right next to each other. But I think what the seasonal message is trying to convey is that expansiveness is more like a mindset, right? You want to think big. What are these possibilities that are opening up to you? What are you about to reap?

We're entering that harvest period where the seeds you planted are starting to come to fruition. You’re going to see this expansiveness and abundance opening up for you, and the reduction card comes in and says, “Okay, you can have this

expansion to reap what you've sown, but with that comes a reduction.”

What is no longer serving you? You’re moving into expansiveness and growth, which is wonderful, but with that comes the understanding that you are not the same person you were. It’s time to let it go.

I see an individual walking with a shadow like Peter Pan when the shadow gets stuck. How can you shake off the shadow? Recognize whatever is holding you back so you're able to let it go completely and move forward.

Joan of Arc steps in as the last card, which is a beautiful reminder to have faith. You're on the right path.

I hope that this is helpful for you. Feel free to reach out with any examples of how this reading resonates with you, and if you’re interested in seeing the amazing artwork of this deck in person, reach out f l reading. Have a lovely I hope to see you soon!

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT elevate your glow

Confidence is contagious. When one person starts to shine, it inspires the people around them to do the same. Elevate Your Glow is dedicated to helping you feel confident in your own skin, inside and out, through personalized skincare education, easy self-care guidance, and empowering tips you can start using right away.

Jess Maxwell, owner of Elevate Your Glow, has been in the skincare industry for over eleven years now, helping her clients see real results without harmful ingredients and often saving them money in the process.

She admits that she stumbled into this line of work while looking for an extra source of income with a flexible schedule. Her journey began when she was detoxing her home and quickly realized the importance of what we put on our skin, hair, and body.

Most people don’t realize that your skin is the largest organ, and it only takes about twenty-six seconds before what you’ve put on your skin enters your bloodstream. When Jess considered that the average woman uses over 500

different chemical ingredients on her body every single day, often without realizing it, she knew she had to make a change for herself and for her family.

Faced with the overwhelm of rows of skincare options at the store, many not actually good for your skin or your health, Jess discovered the benefits of Aloe Verabased skincare using other pharmaceutical-grade ingredients and removing harmful ingredients.

At the time, Jess didn’t know anything about skincare, and she is not alone. Most women don’t know the real purpose of a good skincare system or how to use each product in the right order for the best results. But she was willing to learn, a decision that opened the door to so

BEFORE AFTER

Jess developed a passion for helping clients skip the skincare overwhelm by creating simple, safe routines that work for them. For some, this starts with a two-minute routine. For others, a sampling or Glow Session offers the opportunity to see and feel the results for themselves. And everything she recommends is free from harsh chemicals and toxins, so clients can feel good about what they put on their skin.

In the process, Jess learned that true radiance comes from more than products; it grows from balance, self-kindness, and inner peace. True beauty radiates from within. When you feel good about yourself on the inside and you speak kindly to yourself, it naturally shows in your skin, your energy, and the way you carry yourself.

“I’M INSPIRED EVERY DAY BY MY CLIENTSTHEIR STRENGTH, RESILIENCE, AND THE CHANGES THEY CREATE IN THEIR LIVES.”

Reiki and Sound Healing to support her overall well-being. This combination became the foundation for Elevate Your Glow - a place where beauty, confidence, and self-worth grow and glow together. Now, she offers optional holistic touches like Reiki energy balancing, crystals, and Sound Healing to help clients feel as good on the inside as they look on the outside.

Jess retrained her mindset, learning about self-talk, and earned certificates in

While she’s passionate about helping people discover what works for their skin, her approach is to combine skincare products that are safe, effective, and affordable, with self-care rituals and mindset tools to empower them to let their glow shine. That is why Jess is currently developing Elevate Your Glow cards, designed to inspire consistency with your skincare and self-care routines. Each card will include tips, affirmations, and reminders to keep the glow going every day.

Elevate Your Glow is more than skincare it’s a space where you can feel seen, supported, and empowered. “Whether you’re just starting your skincare journey or looking for a healthier routine, I’ll help you create simple, affordable habits that make you feel your best,” says Jess.

Every product you use makes a difference - which is why choosing safe, effective skincare is one of the simplest steps you can take for your health. Skincare doesn’t have to be confusing or complicated. Jess will help you understand what each product does, why it’s important, and how to use it so you’re not wasting money or putting harmful ingredients on your skin.

Jess is always learning by taking classes, attending retreats, and connecting with other people who value wellness and selfcare. Jess believes she is here to help people feel better in their own skin and enjoys finding the perfect product to target a specific concern or watching someone’s transformation in just weeks or a couple of months. Seeing clients reverse visible signs of aging, reduce redness, or regain a healthy glow is fulfilling, but the best part for Jess is knowing these changes go far beyond the mirror. They boost confidence in every area of life, and that energy is contagious.

As a Holistic Financial Coach, I share a holistic perspective of money that always begins with you. You are a whole, unique being, and part of a larger whole - your relationships, your work, your family, your community, your ancestral line, and the miraculous web of consciousness This whole being that you are includes your physical body, your mental and emotional realms, your energetic self, and your spirit, all inherently connected to all that is.

Money, too, exists in the physical, mental, emotional, energetic, and Spiritual realms, and is also a great connective force.

In pointing to each of these separate components, it’s easy to see how faulty circuitry, disconnection, and blankness can easily create confusion, distortion, density, and misfiring within ourselves and around money.

In taking a holistic approach to healing our finances, we separate these layers in order to observe without judgment, create clarity and awareness, and weave together rightful circuitry, in alignment with our values and our vision - abundance, peace, security, elevation, vibrant health, groundedness, expansion, and anything else that is on your heart and in your desires.

In this article, I’m going to focus on the Spiritual realm through the expression and practice of generosity.

We acce our bodi commun demons our bodi made m therefor is an em

And so i

Here are some practices to embody spiritual generosity:

HONOR YOUR BODY

The more fully we can be present with our bodies, the more deeply we can access God. We become powerful channels or conduits for Spirit, as we act as Spirit embodied, and we create, give, share, show up, and rest from that knowing.

The more fully we can inhabit our bodies with our awareness and our felt and physical sense, the more space we create for God to move through us.

Feel your body. Feel the uncomfortable or tight, feel the soft and the relaxed.

Tend to your body. Move your body. See your body as your greatest asset and treat it as such. Your body is the vehicle for God, through whom you receive and multiply abundance.

INVEST IN YOUR BODY

So often we speak of inhabiting our Spiritual selves and we forsake our bodies in doing so, attempting to ascend without having grounded. In the same way, we speak of manifesting money without tending to the actions in the physical realm that will allow us to do so.

USE YOUR BREATH

breath he nhale, our e that the working together?

Feel the upward growth and buoyancy of your inhale Feel the downward rooting of your exhale. We grow, we root down... over and over and over again.

The body is truth and the body speaks truth. Listen and attune to it as the treasure that it is.

Take a long, extended inhale, right now. Breathe in as deeply and fully as you possibly can. Do it again. Slow, steady, fully filling, all the way in, completely satisfied and filled with breath. Now, notice how this breath did not take anything away from anyone else, no matter how many breaths you took, or how much you were filled. There was and is still enough breath for every other living being on this planet. Acknowledge this embodied sense of abundance.

“THANK YOU” say

PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Just for fun, sense into the energetic difference between “thank you” and “thanks.” Feel into the tone and texture of each.

What do you notice?

In your own hand, with a pen and paper, write out all that you are grateful for regularly. This practice is so simple and basic that oftentimes it is the first one to fall away when my clients inevitably, as we all do, feel the pull of old patterns and habits.

Create, keep, and honor this practice in your life, and trust in its power. This is the science of neuroplasticity, at work in the most mundane of ways

What we appreciate appreciates. Recognize your assets, financial and otherwise, and demonstrate and communicate your appreciation of them often.

TITHE ENERGETICALLY

Pray for others. See those around you, around this whole planet, receiving that which they need. Ask for goodness, wealth, and blessings on behalf of others. See and envision others’ success and happiness as much as you do your own.

Keep your own needs and desires at the center of your attention and energetic focus, AND tithe your awareness and intentions regularly on behalf of others. The better we all do, the better we all do.

HONOR YOUR ATTENTION AS AN ASSET

We PAY attention. Be intentional with how you choose to invest this asset. Notice what you are paying attention to. Notice what you create and uphold through the power of your attention. Yes, it is important to be aware of what is happening in the physical realm and to stand for life and God and liberty and truth and goodness. And what we invest in is what grows. The information we take in becomes form - IN-FORMation. Notice what you are creating and forming with your words, thoughts, and attention.

See your attention as a gift. This is another aspect of energetic tithing when used with intention and care. Who would thrive from your gorgeous attention right now? Offer it there. Maybe a relative who is lonely, a stranger with whom to share

a connection and a smile, a person on the street who will not even be consciously aware of your attention, but whose spirit will feel and receive it nonetheless. Maybe YOU need your attention the most right now.

PRESENCE IS A PRESENT

We’re so rushed and driven by time. The Spirit is eternal. Connect with the eternal through the present moment and truly be fully present, in your body, when you are with others. Slow down. Create and fiercely protect space in your day, in your week, in your life.

FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness is a gift. Give it freely. Forgiveness clears and frees space so you have more available within which to receive, and more space within which to create and to give. Forgiveness is generosity.

Who do you need to forgive? Is it yourself? Anyone else? Your parents? A former partner? Acknowledge the hurts. See that you all were doing the best you could, given circumstances, skills, and capacity.

And forgive. Release. Let go. Over and over and over. Commit to the ongoing practice of forgiveness, of self and others.

SPIRITUAL

GENEROSITY

Generosity is the natural outpouring of abundance. When we fill ourselves with abundance and tend to ourselves wholeheartedly, and use our God-given life force wisely, in our financial realm and beyond, we share from overflow, rather than from overfunctioning.

Our spirits are free, loving, and unbound.

and with joy, while remaining rooted, always, in our generosity to selfto our own bodies, hearts, vision, and desires.

Our work in the spiritual realm is made manifest in the physical realm, financially and beyond. We came here to be in our fullest expression, financially and beyond. Spiritual generosity, offered to self and to others, is one way we get to magnify, multiply, and share God’s abundance through our beautiful, unique expression.

CHANNEL make me a

What does the Christian mystic Saint Francis have in common with the Eastern practices of Feng Shui, Reiki, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, the Hindu practice of Vastu, and Mayan/Incan architecture?

The theme running through them all is the idea of a channel – a channel between Heaven and Earth. While much of religious and spiritual teaching focuses on how humans can rise up, ascend, and escape

this world and its suffering, the ability to receive from above, often doesn’t get as much attention. It is a two-way channel.

The Prayer of St. Francis, popular with people around the world, regardless of their religion, was set to music in 1967 becoming the hymn, “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.” If you are not familiar with it, here are the lyrics:

Make me a channel of Your peace

Where there is hatred let me bring Your love

Where there is injury, Your pardon, Lord

And where there's doubt, true faith in You

Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek

So much to be consoled as to console

To be understood as to understand

To be loved as to love with all my soul

Make me a channel of Your peace

Where there's despair in life let me bring hope

Where there is darkness, only light

And where there's sadness, ever joy

Make me a channel of Your peace

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned

In giving to all men that we receive

And in dying that we're born to eternal life

Although the prayer did not come directly from his writings, it encompassed Saint Francis’s way of life. While praying in the dilapidated country chapel of San Damiano, God’s voice spoke to Saint Francis and told him to “Go and rebuild my house.”

Taking these first steps in the material world to restore a building, a space, was an important move that led to rebuilding the Church as an entire organization. The organization of our physical space is tied to and supports our “higher” aspirations. Saint Francis personally renounced worldly, material possessions. However, he received (channeled) a message from above and took action here in the material world. Setting things right in a material way led him to accomplish great things. The divine and the material are entwined.

The words of this prayer/song are all about the transformation of something negative into something positive and about allowing oneself to become the channel through which divinity manifests itself in the material world. Similarly, Chinese Feng Shui applies organizational practices here in the material world to optimize the flow of chi (life force energy) This organization of the space inhabited can optimize the outcomes on multiple levels (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual), turning negatives into positives.

(Note: This optimization does not guarantee a specific result, for reasons beyond the scope of this article.)

Many practitioners of Reiki and other energy healing modalities often speak of the fact that THEY do not heal someone, rather they are a channel for healing to come through to the recipient. Another metaphor, common in the Christian Bible, the Jewish Torah, as well as the Kabbalistic tradition, is that of being a vessel in which the Word of God resides, a vessel that receives His word and then carries it out in their worldly existence. The channel and the vessel represent the same experience.

In the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, the sephirah of Chesed is God’s unlimited love and compassion, which flows to the sephirah of Gevurah, the vessel that receives it. The balanced flow between Chesed and Gevurah creates Tiferet, Beauty. Chesed and Gevurah (giving and receiving) can be seen as one aspect of yin and yang. Feng Shui is a practice that strives to balance all sets of complementary opposites (yin and yang) as a means of creating a beautiful and peaceful space. In Feng Shui, the home itself (as well as any defined space, really) is also seen as a vessel through which we want to guide a flow of divine energy.

If the Christian tradition sees the Church, as being the people as opposed to the building, then why was it important for Saint Francis to physically renovate San

Damiano? It is because people use symbolism to relate to their beliefs, and that physical space, dedicated to worship, is helpful to many as a way to express and engage with their spiritual practice. The church building serves as a vessel for an entire community of people with shared beliefs.

However, the majority of our time is spent in our homes. In both Feng Shui and the Hindu tradition of Vastu Shastra, the center of the home should ideally be an open space. The true Hindu ideal would be to have an open courtyard in the center of the home. The center is seen as the “heart” of the home from which the chi or prana flows from above and circulates out to the rest of the home.

Prana is the Hindu equivalent of the Chinese chi. It is a vital life-force energy which, interestingly, is closely tied to the breath. In Christian tradition, the Holy Spirit is often referred to as the “breath of God.” Essentially, the center of the home is seen as the channel through which we connect with and receive from the Divine.

The home and the body are both vessels for this energy. The Vedic system speaks of channeling this energy through chakras, while the Kabbalah “tzelem Elokim” refers to man being made in God’s image and aligning the human body with the Tree of Life. Traditional Chinese Medicine aligns body parts with the Five Elements and with areas of the home via the bagua map.

The chakana or Andean Cross is a widely used symbol throughout much of South America, with origins predating the Inca civilization. In the Quechua language, “chakana” means “bridge.” While it is not directly aligned with the human body, the open center point of the chakana is the Axis Mundi, a center point that connects or bridges different realms and allows spiritual communication between them. A fascinating note here is that Sri V. Ganapati Sthapati, a traditional Hindu architect, visited South/Central America in 1995 and was astounded to find that the construction of Incan sites such as Machu Picchu, as well as Mayan sites such as Chichen Itza, conformed precisely with the Vastu Vedic principles.

Ultimately, regardless of the specific way in which a culture perceives the Divine, the concept of a channel through which we communicate with and receive from the Divine is universal. This channel exists both within us as individuals and in the spaces we inhabit. However, receiving the message is only the first step. It is up to the individual who has received a message to then take action here in the material world and, by doing so, transmute the negative to positive – the mundane to the

LEARN TO PLAY your authentic music

Astrology is a word that’s been used in many circles reading the horoscope in the paper or browsing the esoteric shelf at the local hippie shop. For years, it’s lived on the fringe of society and been lumped in with “hocus-pocus.” But really, astrology is a symbolic language for selfawareness rather than hard prediction.

As a professional astrologer, I find the subject deeply helpful for understanding my path, the challenges I face, and the cycles and patterns I fall into. It was only when I started taking on clients and helping them that I truly saw how life can transform when you adopt a new perspective. That is what astrology offers: a perspective on the potential of your life’s energy.

What does that mean? I like to explain it to clients in musical terms. Look at your birth chart as a musical composition or sheet music. Each planet is a unique instrument. Some instruments have a lower tone or vibration and influence the beat or pace of your life. Others are higher, faster, and more easily changeable. Each instrument and each piece of music has unlimited potential if they are understood and if they are practiced. An instrument that sits in the corner, never acknowledged, isn’t bad or something to be feared (as some people treat certain planets in their charts). You can’t just stuff the instrument somewhere it’s a freaking piano or cello; it’s not easy to hide. You have to deal with the instrument: learn to use it, tune it, and find a teacher who understands its potential. That’s what I do.

I read the sheet music the planets / God / Source / the Universe gave you the frequency imprinted at birth. I help you understand how the music you were born with can truly sound if you learn the pattern, adjust your timing, and play the full value of the notes. A birth chart is a map for moving through life; the transiting planets create movement, flow, ups, and downs, giving you chances to practice the different instruments (planets) in your chart.

It’s fascinating when you realize that everything is frequency, including the planets, and that our squishy little brains and our nervous systems are shaped by subtle frequencies. Learning to dance and play to your unique frequencies is one of the most amazing talents anyone can possess, because that is when you are living authentically when you understand the songs you came to Earth to play and you perform them to the best of your ability. You allow the melancholic pieces to move you to tears, and you play boldly when the planets demand you show up and be seen. You don’t judge yourself for times of solitude and introspection, and you don’t think you’re vain when you crave the spotlight. You’ve been learning your unique chart your piece of music — practicing all the instruments, and embracing each for the role it plays. You are living in your true essence and flow, radiating that gift across the planet and vibing with others who are living in their authentic energy. And that that is a beautiful vibe.

LOOKING INWARD grace in being human

As a clinician, I am well-versed in the specialized language of my field acronyms, diagnostic labels, and technical terms used to describe human behavior. Lately, I’ve noticed this terminology moving beyond clinical settings and into everyday conversation. I hear twelve-year-olds using the word gaslighting, young adults referring to “mental breakdowns,” and casual references to “my OCD,” “my ADHD,” or accusations of narcissism.

While I respect and validate each person’s experiences and perspectives, I believe it’s important to remember our shared humanity especially now. We are all feeling it: the fear, the uncertainty, the underlying tension in our world today. In moments like these, we need to extend grace to each other, and perhaps most importantly, to ourselves.

One of my favorite aspects of being a therapist is allowing my own quirks to show in session, letting clients know they’re not alone. There is something profoundly healing in seeing a client’s shoulders relax after weeks of tension, or watching a smile return when they find out their therapist is delightfully imperfect too. These moments remind us that being human is not about perfection it’s about authenticity

I encourage us all to diagnose ourselves less and embrace ourselves more. Let’s accept and celebrate our humanness especially our unique quirks because those are the very things that make you you.
