MARTHA WELLS Manager, Melly 3327 Galleria // 952.929.9252 mellyonline.com What kinds of goods does Melly offer? Melly is the store to come to for classic items that are meant to become favorites and last a long time. We don’t believe in disposable shopping and our items are well made, classic in style and will be worn and enjoyed for many years. What makes Melly special? The staff, the customers and the wellcurated product offering are what make Melly special. Melly employees are selected because of the way they treat people and they are trained to be kind and fair to the customer, the product and the Galleria. Because of this many of our customers have shopped with us for the 15 years we’ve been in business and many of our staff have been with us for more than 10 years. The well-edited selection means you must come shop often to see what is new. Where does your name come from? The name comes from our owners—a mother and daughter team. The mother, Mary Mead, and her daughter, Caryn Mead Kelly, began Melly in 2006. The name is a combination of Mead and Kelly. Favorite staples in your shop? Our staples include Lilly Pulitzer dresses, Longchamp Le Pliage totes, Julie Voss earrings, MZ Wallace Sutton bags, P-Jama night gowns and pjs, On Cloud running shoes and many others. What do you love about Edina? What we love about Edina is Edina is our home. Owners Mary Mead and Caryn Kelly, and myself, have all lived in Edina our entire adult lives.

How did Rustica Bakery start? Rustica Bakery was created by Steve Horton, a very talented baker with a passion for making the best bread in the Twin Cities. He has subsequently become a three-time semifinalist for the James Beard Outstanding Baker Award. Since its start in 2004, Rustica has continued to flourish and progress, all while maintaining the highest possible quality in service and goods. Tell us about your baked goods and coffee. All of our baked goods are made with precision, attention, and old-world techniques. Our bakers regularly use triedand-true recipes while simultaneously innovating and creating new bread and pastry recipes. We serve Dogwood Coffee and have always valued providing staple roasts and espresso, as well as exploring fresh, unique specialty coffee drinks.

What’s the atmosphere like at Rustica? Rustica is warm and inviting, yet fast paced and bustling. It’s a great place to swing by for a coffee and pastry to go or to sit and stay for a while. Do you have plans to expand? Our New location is in the Life Time development at Southdale

What are your most popular baked goods? Do you have a favorite? One of our most well-loved pastry items is the kouign amann. It’s made with its own unique dough and then layered with butter and sugar to create a rich, flaky, caramelized pastry. My personal favorite, however, is the flourless chocolate cookie.

The new location opened in early 2020 and is a welcome and exciting addition to the 50th & France neighborhood. “We’ve been looking for quite a while to open another Pajarito in this area,” says chef and owner, Steve Hesse. “50th & France is such a nice, quaint community. Opening a new location here feels like a really good second home for us.” There’s a lot to be excited about with the Edina version of Pajarito: a larger open kitchen will enable restaurant-goers to watch while tortillas are made and meals are assembled. Two woodfire ovens will allow for expanded menu options. “You’ll be able to get 95% of your favorite St. Paul menu options at the Edina location, but we’re also looking to expand the taco and woodfire offerings here,” says Hesse. The new location also features a reservable event space in the basement: perfect for private parties, larger groups, and receptions. Keep in mind that Pajarito’s contemporary and creative approach to Mexican cuisine isn’t limited to the food—their fabulous cocktail menu will still be available in all its glory at the Edina location too. Try the habanero cilantro margarita or the snozberry version with creme de cassis, dry curaçao, and strawberry-lemon shrub. If margaritas aren’t your thing, there’s a great selection of other cocktails to sip and savor. PAT T Y MCGRATH General Manager, Edinborough Park/Aquatic Center 7700 York Ave S // 952.833.9540 edinamn.gov Why is Edinborough Park the place to be? Edinborough Park is the largest indoor play park in Minnesota. The location features a variety of different play areas for kids, as well as a Greek-style amphitheater, cafe, jogging track with fitness equipment, and a six-lane lap pool. Natural light filters through the glass ceiling into the landscaped, climate-controlled interior, so the park’s atmosphere is very calming. What kinds of play areas are offered at the park? Our signature element is Adventure Peak, a six-level climbing structure with an open triple slide. Little Peak is a play area for kids ages four and younger, and The Great Hall is our popular multipurpose gym featuring a bounce house and an assortment of play equipment. Tell us about the amphitheater. Is there a calendar of events? We schedule entertainers September - May in the amphitheater and feature musicians, nature experts, magicians, and more as free children’s entertainment on Thursdays at noon. We also put on free concerts showcasing community bands, and once a month on a Friday, we offer a family movie night featuring kid-approved movies. Check our online calendar for information about events. What inspires you about Edina? There’s a lot I love about Edina. The city is so energizing, and there’s such a strong sense of community pride here. It’s clear people are invested in coming together and providing a variety of amenities to help people of all ages stay active and engaged.
