My Perfect Saturday
Saturdays are for moseying around town and catching up with friends and family, including our four-legged babies! We start the day with brunch–Haven has a great one, and I’d like to try the new brunch menu at The Ashford. I’ve seen a lot of positive feedback on social media, and they have a quaint outdoor seating area so Bocephus and Emmy Lou can tag along. Then my husband watches the dogs while I take a quick stroll through Marguerite’s on Dresden to see their newest inventory. I love cooking and hosting, and they have the cutest pieces to complete tablescapes and add to my home décor. It’s always a treat to go in and glean inspiration from how pieces are styled in the boutique.
In the afternoon, I like to recharge by connecting with nature at Murphey Candler Park, taking in the fresh air and watching the ducks pass by. The dogs love walking the lake loop! To finish the day, we’ll grab a cocktail and light bites on the patio at PURE Taqueria, kicking back to watch the sunset from their patio.

OUTSIDE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL
Brookhaven’s Favorite Parks
Talk to Brookhaven locals, and you’ll find everyone has a favorite park. Whether they take to the tennis courts at Blackburn, enjoy some off-leash time with the pups at Skyland or Brookhaven, run trails at Murphey Candler, or visit playgrounds with the kids, it’s easy to find a place that fits your pace. And with 19 parks and greenspaces to choose from, there’s one near you, wherever you happen to be.
Arguably the best-known among the parks is Murphey Candler Park–the largest in the area, beloved by joggers, kayakers, bird watchers, and sports leagues. Stretching 135 acres across its namesake neighborhood, the sparkling lake at its heart is home to Canada Geese, ducks, beavers, and fish. Surrounding trails offer great hiking, jogging, and walking. The primary 2-mile loop passes through wooded areas, bridges, and wetlands. Nearby picnic pavilions serve up opportunities to gather and play or even enjoy a picnic with treats from the farmers market or takeout from some of your favorite local spots.
5
The park’s football fields, swimming pool, tennis courts, and baseball and softball complexes see lots of action from numerous leagues and teams who come to compete, yet the lake and forested trails maintain their serene feel. It’s the sense of getting away from it all while still being conveniently close to everything that seals the deal on Murphey Candler’s popularity, and residents as well as visitors find themselves quickly becoming regulars.
Connected to Murphey Candler by the 2.3-mile Nancy Creek Trail, Blackburn Park offers 50 acres of continuing greenspace and trails as well as lighted tennis courts and a pro shop. Make sure to reserve a court or sign up for classes with one of their experienced professionals prior to your visit.
Blackburn currently hosts the Young Girl’s Statue for Peace, created by artists Kim Seo-kyung and Kim Eun-sung. If you’re traveling with kids and burning off some playground energy is on the agenda, wide fields with jungle gyms and a covered picnic area await, along with a pavilion you can rent for events. In the winter, the park is home to Light Up Brookhaven, a must see holiday light display bringing cheer to the season. And as winter gives way to spring, Blackburn is the site of Brookhaven’s most celebrated annual event–Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival–with live music, food, arts, activities, and a car show.
6
While Brookhaven’s many smaller parks may not measure up to the acreage of Murphey Candler or Blackburn, they’re an essential part of the fabric of the community, giving it a flavor of unexpected discovery and providing neighborhood gathering places. At Briarwood, you’ll find a gem of a community garden, tennis courts, trails for the adults to get in some steps, and a new pool perfect for a cool dip on summer days. Ashford Park, known among Brookhavenites as “the isle of misfit toys,” is home to an ever-growing population of donated toys as well as traditional playground equipment, a community building, and a picnic shelter popular for kids’ parties. At Brookhaven and Skyland parks, you’re likely to find just as many dogs as people, if not more, and the vibe is always energetic and friendly.
Peachtree Creek Greenway, a recreation path and park along the north fork of Peachtree Creek, is officially open for runners, walkers, cyclists, and anyone looking for a great way to get out of the car and explore. An immediate favorite with locals, the wide, paved trail is one of the best places to get in a workout or just enjoy trees, art, and natural beauty. Ultimately, the Greenway will stretch all the way from Doraville to the Atlanta Beltline.
Whether you’re in town for a weekend or a longer stay, head out into the green to breathe in some fresh air and activity, stroll with coffee, row the lake…or just enjoy the fresh air. Your peace of mind will thank you.

Petite Violette
TWO BROTHERS AND A BELOVED FRENCH BISTRO
By the time Brothers Michael and Anthony Gropp opened Brookhaven’s classic French bistro Petite Violette, they already had more than three decades of restaurant expertise under their belts. Their father, a classically trained chef, put the boys to work in the kitchen of his restaurant—Atlanta’s beloved Petite Auberge—in 1974, cutting strawberries. When the two started a new chapter in the family legacy, moving to a location three miles away, Petite Auberge was such a part of the neighborhood that the neighborhood came with them. The restaurant’s new spot was the former home of another iconic Atlanta eatery, Violette Restaurant, and so Petite Auberge became Petite Violette—an homage to two great traditions.
12
Michael and Anthony Gropp, the owners of Petite Violette (Dyana Bagby)
13
Petite Violette’s sophisticated French repertoire (foie gras, escargot, profiteroles) expands throughout the year, exploring other cultures through specially crafted menus including Cajun Creole, Wild Game, and Mediterranean. Today, the restaurant’s sought-after dishes reach well beyond the neighborhood: you can spot their food truck, Scratch, by the line stretched out front at events and festivals, and their catering appears on tables across the city. Its adventurous palate has made the bistro increasingly popular each year, while legendary dishes from the original Petite Auberge, like Beef Wellington, remain staples of the menu 40+ years after they were first served to guests.
A warm glow permeates Petite Violette both literally and figuratively, with natural light flooding through the oversized windows as well as delicate chandeliers and creative light fixtures adding touches throughout. The distinctive blend of culinary elegance and welcoming, friendly service makes for an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere, turning visitors from all over the city into regulars. (The tree-lined patio definitely doesn’t hurt either.) Adding to the ambience of culture, community, and abundant charm, live entertainment is a signature element of Petite Violette, with curated selections every Wednesday through Saturday night.
14
“ When it comes to events, Petite Violette sets the bar high.”
Be sure to stop in to Petite Violette’s olive oil and vinegar boutique, where dozens of fresh, flavored, and infused oils and vinegars have been personally selected and imported by the restaurant’s chefs. Besides guiding you through tasting notes and history, the knowledgeable staff can even tell you when the olives were pressed. Sample selections like savory Georgia Olive Oil and Peach and Pecan Balsamic, and grab a bottle of your favorite on your way out.
There’s something to delight each of the senses at Petite Violette, but if you do happen to miss the olive oil bar (or the patio, or the spectacular wine list, or the profiteroles with pistachio ice cream and chocolate sauce…) don’t worry—you’ll be back for more. Trust us on this.

See Spot Stay
A DOG’S GUIDE TO BROOKHAVEN
In Brookhaven, you feel the hospitality everywhere you go, from parks to bars, restaurants to hotels… whether you’re on two legs or four. There’s no need to leave the pup at home when planning your next trip or enjoying a weekend staycation–many of the city’s most popular destinations welcome both canines and their people. Sniff out new favorites and find your go-to places to romp, roam, and relax.
With a popular DIY dog wash, in-store training classes, and a staff of devoted dog lovers, City Dog Market is a must for anyone looking to explore dog-friendly Brookhaven. In addition to familiar brands of pet food and treats, the market has its own line of puppy snacks and racks of locally-made baked goods that will make your own mouth water. Fire hydrant cookies, colorful birthday cakes (with sprinkles, of course), “cigars,” and even party hats are among the creative offerings, which well-behaved furry friends are welcome to check out with you. Many staff members have been with City Dog Market for over a decade and are as knowledgeable as they are accommodating, happy to make recommendations and share their own top picks for dog-friendly spots in town. Thanks to its enthusiastic and ever-growing clientele, the market celebrated its 16th anniversary in April 2024 and now offers online shopping, curbside pickup, and same-day delivery.
18
Just down the street, you’ll find one of the biggest off-leash dog parks in the area at Brookhaven Park (currently undergoing construction improvements), where dogs and their people enjoy a spread-out place to play, sit, and fetch (or just dog watch). You may even catch an impromptu “singing” performance. If your pooch prefers a quieter vibe, Skyland Park’s separate, fenced areas for small and large dogs are just as frolic-friendly.
When it’s time for a great meal, you’ll find many of Brookhaven’s favorite patios are also dog friendly–the places you’re most likely to find a perfect burger or cocktail also accommodate your companion. Delicious burgers await at Grindhouse Killer Burgers, with a front patio where you and your furry best friend can relax and enjoy. If you’ve spent any time in the area, you’re likely already a fan of PURE Taqueria’s specialty margaritas, tequilas, mezcals, and house-made tortillas, but their pet-friendly patio makes it the pick of the litter for spending quality time with Fido, too.
When it’s time to hit the hay, Brookhaven has several pet-friendly hotels that host pets in style. Hyatt Regency Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina is always a favorite, with its sophisticated feel and resortstyle comfort. Spacious rooms where both of you can hit snooze after your big day out, a rooftop pool, restaurant-bar, coffee shop, and green spaces to get out and stretch your legs all add to the appeal. You’ll wake up refreshed, pampered and ready to do it all again.

Around the World
INTERNATIONAL FLAVORS ON BUFORD HIGHWAY
It’s virtually impossible to narrow down the international options on Buford Highway, known not just regionally but nationally for its global, authentic flavors and cuisines. That said, here are a few local favorites to get you started. Go exploring on Buford Highway and find your own personal favorites–it’s time well spent for anyone with an appetite for adventure!
China Feng
One word you’ll hear frequently in conversations among first-time visitors to Buford Highway’s standout international restaurants is “unexpected.” Many superstars of this famous stretch of highway are tucked into shopping centers, names spelled out in simple block letters unadorned with logos or obvious branding. The atmospheres are casual, the décor is usually simple, and the kitchens are bustling.
Unassuming as the exterior may be, the cars in the parking lots are always a dead giveaway of what’s inside. At China Feng, in a small strip mall at the intersection of Curtis Drive, locals have been lining up for years for the famously ample and affordable lunch menu, house specialties, and takeaway.
While this Chinese restaurant’s fare includes all America’s favorites—like Sesame Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Pot Stickers, and Crab Rangoon––it also offers traditional provincial Chinese flavors like the Triple Delicacies (a mix of prawns, chicken, and scallops in a light, spicy house sauce) and Dragon & Phoenix (a half-and-half platter filled on one side with lobster and shrimp sautéed in white sauce and on the other with lightly battered and fried chicken in a hot, spicy sauce).
While the Chinese Braised Chicken Wings and BBQ Boneless Spare Ribs are standout favorites, this heavier fare is balanced by “Spa Cuisine,” focused on steamed vegetables and seafood. With an extensive soup menu and appetizers, there’s literally something for everyone and every appetite, any time of day.
20
Havana Sandwich Shop
When Eddie Benedit opened Havana Sandwich Shop on Buford Highway in 1976, it was with a menu composed entirely of family recipes learned by heart growing up in the kitchen in Cuba. Today? It still is. The area’s first fullCuban restaurant continues to serve up some of the most flavorful food on Buford Highway, a neighborhood that sets the bar high for international cuisine. Their famous Cuban sandwich is, of course, a must for any sandwichlover, but Havana’s customers come back just as often for the empanadas, and sides like the ever-popular maduros (fried ripe plantains), tostones (fried green plantains), and yucca fries. Baditos (milkshakes) come in flavors like mango, guava, and papaya, and you can’t go wrong with a classic plate of succulently seasoned pork with rice and black bean soup for dinner.
Taqueria La Carreta
Taqueria La Carreta is a hole-in-the-wall treasure, home to some of the best mole sauce you’ll ever taste. Go for the enchiladas (with said sauce, of course), or bring a bunch of friends and sample some of everything you can get your hands on, from traditional carne asada tacos with cilantro, shaved radishes, and a squeeze of lime to fresh guacamole and salsa, chorizo, pozole, and house specialties like the ceviche tostada and huachinango a la diabla–spicy red snapper with rice. Pair with a cool michelada and call it a great day.

Two Italians
VALENZA AND VERO
In Valenza’s upscale yet cozy dining room, guests are surrounded with the warmth and elegance of a village café, where expertly chosen wines flow and live music fills the air. Venetian plastered walls blend with rustic oak and pine furnishings, and European chandeliers bathe turn-of-the-century architectural accents in a warm glow. Though the atmosphere is exactly what you’d want for a romantic dinner or gathering with old friends, the food is the clear reason you’ll find yourself making excuses for those romantic dinners and gatherings as often as possible. Chef Matt Swickerath’s menu features a full spread of Tuscan deliciousness, with antipasti followed by pitch-perfect pastas and entrées (insider tip: don’t miss the scallops or bucatini). With a beautiful patio lit by string lights for dining al fresco in good weather, Valenza is full of thoughtful touches that will have you waxing nostalgic before you’ve even finished your caffée corretto and strawberry crostata.
24
Chef Matt Swickerath and owner Michel Arnette
Guests can watch Valenza’s signature pastas being made by hand next door at the restaurant’s beloved younger sibling, Vero. Featuring weathered wood and unique lighting, the interior echoes Valenza’s while highlighting the star of the show, a 3-ton Acunto pizza oven cast from the volcanic rock clay of Mount Vesuvius and custom-built for the restaurant. Hot enough to cook each pizza in two minutes, the oven turns out thin-crust pies with the hallmark char and perfect crunchy-chewy balance every Napolitano pizza purist looks for.
Though the pizzas are undoubtedly the reason for your first visit, Vero’s salads just might be the hook that keeps you coming back, and some regulars insist it’s not a Vero visit without one. The namesake salad, Vero’s take on a classic Greek salad with pickled onions and fresh herbs, pairs perfectly with any pizza. Insider tip #2: if you’re a spice lover, ask your server for a hit of the Calabrian chili oil to add some kick to your evening before ending the night on an almost impossibly perfect note with an order of homemade cannoli filled with clouds of whipped ricotta and pistachio.

A Taste of Texas
FOX BROTHERS BARBECUE
Growing up in the Lone Star State, twin brothers Jonathan and Justin Fox were surrounded by the rich culinary heritage of Texas barbecue. The scorching heat and bold flavors of southern spice left an indelible mark on their taste buds and aspirations. When the pair relocated from Fort Worth to the Atlanta area, they found themselves yearning for the Texas-style barbecue of their upbringing.
Frustrated in their attempts to find the flavors they craved, the brothers decided to embark on a delicious journey of their own. With no formal training in the culinary arts, they began hosting backyard barbecues in Brookhaven for friends and family to hone their skills and experiment with recipes. The events quickly grew in popularity, from intimate gatherings to crowds of over 250 people, eventually becoming a successful catering operation.
26
In 2005, Jonathan and Justin made their Fox Brothers Barbecue debut in the form of a pop-up at Smith's Olde Bar, where they earned the coveted title of "Runner-Up Best Barbecue in Atlanta." Fueled by their success and unwavering passion, they joined forces with business partner Beau Nolen and decided it was time to open their own brick and mortar restaurant.
In 2007, the Fox brothers found a permanent location in Candler Park on Dekalb Avenue, welcoming guests seven days a week. And now the Fox brothers have brought their particular slice of Texas heat and southern spice back to Brookhaven. Their new location features counter-style ordering inspired by the Texas barbecue joints Jonathan and Justin grew up with, and the menu includes new spins on some down-home classics as well. (Be sure to save room for the white cheddar mac and cheese and mouthwatering desserts!) After ordering, guests who want to dine in can get comfortable in the spacious dining room or relax out on the patio. Or swing by and grab their signature smoked brisket, pork, ribs, and turkey by the pound, sliced to order, and take it to go.
Whether you're a nostalgic Texan, an all-around barbecue lover, or just searching for something extraordinary to pick up and take home, Fox Brothers Barbecue is an absolute must.

BROOKHAVEN ARTS + OGLETHORPE MUSEUM
From the murals lining Buford Highway to the Brookhaven Arts and Culture Commission, the arts are alive and well in Brookhaven, and nowhere is this more apparent than the Oglethorpe University Museum of Arts. Nestled on the third floor of Oglethorpe University’s Lowry Hall, OUMA showcases world-renowned art in elegant environs, bringing fine art and arts education to Brookhaven.
Established during the tenure of Lloyd Nick, the founding director, OUMA’s tasteful space and mission are based on his innovative vision. The museum, which opened its doors in the spring of 1993, blossomed under Lloyd’s direction, transforming into the cultural centerpiece it is today.
Each year, OUMA presents three major exhibitions and several smaller ones, bringing expertly-curated collections to Brookhaven. And with three primary exhibition spaces, including The Shelley and Donald Rubin Gallery, the Skylight Gallery, and the Center Gallery, OUMA has the perfect spaces for its regular lecture and concert series, complementing the exhibitions on view.
As the only small liberal arts museum that routinely exhibits nationally and globally recognized shows, OUMA is dedicated not only to bringing international arts and culture to Brookhaven, but also to developing young museum professionals. With a robust research center and a plethora of engagement opportunities to choose from, university students can get involved by serving as gallery assistants, taking on a work-study position, or embarking on an independent study.
No matter how they get involved, students are encouraged to collaborate with faculty and staff for an immersive learning experience. This hands-on attitude is part of a well-rounded liberal arts education, making OUMA a rare asset for both students and the community alike. And with thousands of visitors each year, OUMA has become a true cultural mecca for Brookahven’s growing arts community.

BROOKHAVEN CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
As the winter doldrums recede each year, Blackburn Park plays host to a vibrant celebration of the arrival of springtime: Brookhaven’s beloved Cherry Blossom Festival.
Nothing gets the party going like some incredible live music, and this fest sure sets a stage. The variety of acts is perfectly suited for everyone. Past years have showcased headliners including Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Fray, Band of Horses, Anderson East, and The Revivalists.
The festival’s Classic Car Show rolls out some truly righteous rides. Hot rods mingle with cool coupes for a spectacle of chrome and steel. But you don’t have to be a “classic” to fit in here. Little ones of all shapes and sizes are always entertained. The Kidz Zone is a perfect place to let loose–with face painting, arts & crafts, games and even carnival rides. Meanwhile, Pet World showcases performances from high-flying pups as they leap for frisbees and exhibit their agility, skills, and intelligence.
More than 100 local and regional artists are on hand to showcase and sell a colorful assortment of creations in the Artist Market. Pick up a masterpiece painting or some funky sculpture for your yard. And one of the best parts of this festival is that you never know what little surprises might pop up.
Covering quite the international spectrum, food choices run the full gamut from fancy crab cakes and lobster rolls to down-home BBQ and nachos. Tasty drink options include lemonade and tea, plus the likes of beer, wine and full bar options for the over-21 crowd.
To get in shape for all the fun, register for the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom 5K race that kicks off the festival, generally held the preceding weekend. This fast and fun course serves as one of the final qualifiers for the Peachtree Road Race, with all proceeds supporting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival is a rain or shine event, so get ready for festivity no matter what the forecast says, and let your spring spirit bloom.

The Greek Pizzeria & Gyros
Nestled in the newly remodeled Skyland Shopping Center on Clairmont Road, The Greek Pizzeria & Gyros hearkens back to the famed pizza and gyro joints of New England. With its fast-casual counter service, outdoor ordering window and seating, pinball machines, and delicious menu, The Greek is not only a beloved neighborhood eatery, it’s a popular gathering place for neighbors, families, friends, and food lovers alike.
At the helm of The Greek is chef and entrepreneur Johnny Gianoulidis, whose culinary background is deeply rooted in family tradition. Gianoulidis’s parents immigrated to the United States in 1963, and when they opened Johnny's Pizza in Moosup, Connecticut, in the seventies, their son fell in love with the art of pie-making. After a move south in the eighties, Gianoulidis and his brothers helped open the new family restaurant, Christos Pizza, continuing the tradition of good food and exceptional service.
34
After attending college and working several years getting experience in restaurants and nightclubs, Gianoulidis immersed himself in the industry that had shaped his upbringing. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Since opening The Greek, Gianoulidis’s commitment to top-notch food at affordable prices has made his pizza and gyro joint a neighborhood favorite. Family mementos are prominently featured throughout the restaurant, including vintage postcards and portraits. And the kitchen turns out mouthwatering fare that’s inventive and family-friendly as well. From the Greek special pizza piled high with gyro meat and feta to the flaky spanakopita, his modern twists on Mediterranean classics weave a tapestry of tradition and flavor that really hits the spot. Whether you're savoring a crunchy Greek salad, a cheesy slice of Hawaiian-style pizza (no one’s judging you for loving pineapple here), sipping a draft beer on the patio, or enjoying the arcade games, The Greek delivers on every level.

Kathleen’s Catch
Kathleen’s Catch is Brookhaven’s seafood haven, bringing a taste of the ocean to local tables. The brainchild of a passionate seafood enthusiast, Kathleen’s Catch was initially born out of frustration with limited options for quality, wild-caught seafood in the area and quickly grew into a beloved community institution. A grassroots seafood venture, the project eventually opened a small brick and mortar space in Johns Creek, its first official location.
What sets Kathleen's Catch apart is its unwavering commitment to providing the freshest seafood possible to its customers. In a city like Brookhaven, far from the coast, that might seem like a challenge, but Kathleen and her daughter, Sara, work tirelessly to make it happen, delivering the best the sea has to offer. From mussels to mahi-mahi, the wide selection of offerings is sourced with meticulous care and often gone from the cases before the end of the day.
Beyond seafood, Kathleen’s offers a thoughtfully curated selection of products to perfectly complement your spread, including sea salts and sugars, house-made seasoning blends, locally crafted butter, and fresh greens from Circle A Farms, along with recommended wines for pairing and bringing out the flavors of your meal. And if you’re looking for more inspiration, you’ll find time-tested, delicious recipes on their site.
If you're on the hunt for the best fresh seafood and customer service to match, look no further than Kathleen's Catch. And don’t miss the lobster rolls; these made-to-order treats are a customer favorite!

INTERNATIONAL SOUL: BUFORD HIGHWAY’S NORTHEAST PLAZA
Northeast Plaza is a cultural crossroads. Walk one way and you’ll see a favorite Mexican restaurant, La Carreta, which continues to grow steadily in size and popularity; walk another and you’ll find yourself on course for some of the best soul food around, hidden behind the tinted windows of Southern Fire Kitchen, where regulars line up for the honey cornbread and short ribs. A few doors down from the immense international supermarket you’ll discover Mercado de Abastos and its sought-after frozen confections and freshly baked breads.
There’s a lot to discover, and as you wander you’ll inevitably notice NCG Cinema, if it hasn’t already caught your eye. Even if you didn’t come for a movie, chances are you’ll wind up standing in front of the theater, staring at the wall to get a closer look at the faces of Mi Gente (“my people”). Created by artist Yehimi Cambrón and commissioned by the Atlanta History Center, the giant mural is composed of continuous-line portraits of Latinx community leaders whose names may not be familiar but whose work has shaped regional history. Within the lines of each face are other faces, vignettes depicting the themes and everyday people behind the scenes. From contemporary activism by Dreamers to older and ongoing efforts in education, labor, gender, and political advocacy, Mi Gente encompasses both a wide range of activism and a focus on individuality and diversity. The five large portraits are dynamic, fluid, and colorful–much like Northeast Plaza itself. And in true modern style, it even has its own playlist on Spotify, “Brilla Mi Gente,” curated by social justice organization La Choloteca.
Make a loop around Northeast Plaza and discover faces and places you might not have heard about yet but definitely won’t forget, and enjoy new flavors everywhere you turn.

We Love Buford Highway
Brookhaven’s Buford Highway is home to a variety of familyowned businesses and restaurants serving up delicious food from across the globe. Widely beloved by Brookhaven residents and visitors, there’s one special organization dedicated to sustaining and celebrating this piece of cultural and culinary history: We Love Buford Highway.
We Love Buford Highway is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving this multicultural thoroughfare, creating a coalition to shine a light on how immigrant-owned businesses thrive in the modern South. We Love Buford Highway’s central mission is to build unity from diversity, sparking connection and helping each other to dream big.
By exploring the relationship between food and cultural identity, We Love Buford Highway honors and preserves the culinary traditions passed down through generations. They do this by raising awareness and representation of heritage, customs, and culture, sponsoring oral history projects, community newsletters, and more.
40
We Love Buford Highway also works to uplift the culinary heritage of the area through FEAST, which stands for Flavors, Experience, Art, Stories and Traditions. This annual fundraising gala serves as an introduction to the food and culture of Buford Highway’s immigrant communities, helping guests to understand the passion and history behind the meals.
With its bazaar-style setup and cultural dance performances, FEAST goes beyond the food to paint a more comprehensive portrait of the vibrant communities that call Buford Highway home. By spotlighting our immigrant community’s influence and impact on Brookhaven’s culinary scene, We Love Buford Highway raises awareness and celebrates the immense diversity contained in this three-mile stretch of restaurants.

THE WING GURU Spotlight
At The Wing Guru, hot wings aren't just a dish, they're an art form perfected by founder Billy Richmond Jr., who started his journey to master the ultimate hot wing starting at age nine.
After pursuing a career in collegiate and professional basketball, Billy Jr. returned to his roots, opening the first Wing Guru location in Memphis, where it quickly gained recognition and popularity, winning Florida’s Orange Park Statewide Hot Wing Festival Grand Championship. With a menu boasting 21 flavors of wings you can enjoy on the patio or inside while catching a game on the big screen TVs, there's something for everyone at The Wing Guru. Fried catfish and gourmet burgers hold their own next to wings on the menu and there are plenty of surprises as well as classics at the bar, too. Odds are you’ll find yourself craving this spot and telling your friends about it, too. Take an opportunity to savor their delicious creations…you won’t be disappointed.

“Georgia is a Mecca for good ingredients.”
In fall and winter, guests can warm up with a bowl of wild mushroom with orzo or pumpkin-butternut squash. In spring and summer, chilled green gazpacho and bright shrimp corn chowder are surefire ways to beat the heat. But no matter what time of year, Jenny’s super-fresh seasonal sandwiches are a must-try. From crab and avocado stuffed pitas to gooey grilled cheese, Souper Jenny’s creations are always mouthwatering…and include plenty of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan offerings.
Meals at Souper Jenny feed not just the happy customers, but the surrounding community. The welcoming spirit of the cafe extends far beyond the restaurant walls and into the heart of Atlanta. Jenny’s most popular soup, My Dad’s Turkey Chili, is not only delicious and perfectly spiced, it’s part of a family legacy and community initiative known as The Zadie Project. Named in honor of her father Jarvin Levison, known as Zadie (Yiddish for grandfather) to friends and loved ones, this nonprofit provides nourishing meals to Atlanta’s hungry families and senior citizens. Each time a customer buys a bowl of My Dad’s Turkey Chili, Souper Jenny makes an equal financial contribution to The Zadie Project.
Whether you’re an organic foodie, vegan, or just craving a little chicken soup for the soul, head to Souper Jenny to satisfy your appetite and nourish your community.
