The Atacama Desert –

Where Silence Meets the Stars

Atacama is unlike anywhere else on Earth. The highest and driest desert in the world, it is an extreme landscape that unfolds like a vision from another planet. Salt flats stretch endlessly, volcanoes tower above crimson valleys, and the silence is so profound you can almost hear the salt crack beneath your feet.

Life thrives in surprising forms, where a mere trickle of water brings rare, vibrant ecosystems to life. For thousands of years, Indigenous cultures have lived in harmony with this harsh but beautiful land, honoring its rhythms and mysteries. And when night falls, the desert sky opens up like nowhere else on earth, offering the clearest, most breathtaking view of the stars you’ll ever see. | explora.com
