The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration® in Shelbyville, TN, is an 11-day annual event celebrating the Tennessee Walking Horse. This celebrated show draws nearly a quarter of a million fans from over 40 states, all converging at the historic Celebration® Grounds each year, ending on the Saturday before Labor Day. The event began in 1939 when Henry Davis of Wartrace, TN, inspired by a local festival, proposed a celebration to honor the state’s prized Tennessee Walking Horse.
Held continuously since its inception, the Celebration® has expanded into a sprawling 100-acre complex, featuring a 30,000-seat outdoor stadium, a 4,500-seat indoor arena, practice arenas, and horse stalls for over 1,700 entries. The event includes thrilling performances from more than 2,000 horses competing for the title of World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse®, with the final crowning stirring excitement among all in attendance.
