Welcome You’ll notice from this brochure that Exeter Northcott has begun to programme in the Great Hall at the University of Exeter. We’re trying this out so that we can extend the range of work we present for our audience, including the wonderful Chinese State Circus.

We’ve also included some of our autumn shows that are already on sale, including English Touring Theatre’s French Without Tears which we’re delighted to be opening in September. A wonderful, funny, touching play. Check it out.

Our Christmas show will be Peter Pan, the original J. M. Barrie play. I am looking forward to working with the extremely talented young designer Ellan Parry on this one, very much indeed. It will have a large cast, lots of kids, real flying and a video design – and promises to be a visual feast.

With your support we can build on the success of the last year, broadening our audience base and the range and quality of our offer, bringing exceptional, talented people to Exeter to make work with us and providing opportunities for the wealth of talent that surrounds us.

Sun 12 June 7.30pm EXETER NORTHCOTT THEATRE Puccini unleashed a volcanic explosion of operatic passion that shook the musical world to its core. Audience reactions ranged from revulsion to ridicule. After the passage of nearly a century, it has become clear that some of the tragedy we find in Puccini’s operas reflects his own rather tempestuous life. Throughout his career he felt he was hunting (in vain) for the one perfect operatic story. Perhaps, without knowing it, he was already living it.

Matt Cardle

Intimate & Live Sun 26 June 7.30pm EXETER NORTHCOTT THEATRE Matt Cardle shot to fame when he was crowned winner of the most successful series of The X Factor in 2010. His phenomenal vocals won over the public and he’s since gone on to have a number of enormous hits including No.1 When We Collide, No.6 Run For Your Life, No.10 Loving You (with Spice Girl Melanie C) and the beautiful First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.

More recently, Matt’s four-octave vocal range earned him the leading role next to Beverley Knight in Memphis The Musical in London, where he won the Best West End Debut Award for his portrayal of Huey Calhoun.

Jimmy Osmond began his performing career at the tender age of three with Andy Williams on his television series. This year marks Jimmy’s fiftieth anniversary in show business.

Jimmy will sing the songs that made Andy Williams so beloved by millions including Music To Watch Girls By, Happy Heart, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Almost There, May Each Day, Days Of Wine And Roses, and, of course, the song that was to become his theme tune, Moon River.

Amadeus Orchestra Fri 22 July 7.30pm EXETER CATHEDRAL The Amadeus Orchestra and Raphael Wallfisch bring one of England’s finest cello concertos to Exeter; Finzi’s masterpiece from his final years.

Wallfisch has long been a major proponent of his work and has made several recordings of it.

Malcolm Forbes-Peckham last played a piano concerto with Amadeus back in 2014 when they performed Mozart’s double and this year he performs Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue as well as the quasi-solo piano part of Stravinksy’s ballet Petrouchka. We are committed to making Exeter Northcott Theatre and The Great Hall accessible to everyone. If you require any assistance please inform the Box Office on 01392 726363 in advance of your visit.

The Exeter Northcott Theatre Box Office, Stocker Road, Exeter EX4 4QB is open for in person, telephone and email bookings Mon – Sat 10am to 6pm* and 1 hour before the performance on Sundays.

*In the evenings, the Box Office is open for half an hour after curtain up.

Tickets are also available from Exeter Visitor’s Information & Tickets: Dix’s Field, Exeter EX1 1GF, open Mon – Sat 9am to 5pm (excluding agency tickets) BOOKING FEE: All transactions are subject to a £2 booking fee. The booking fee does not apply to cash purchases or purchases under £10.

All ticket prices shown include a £1 CORE FUND Fee which goes towards the cost of operating and maintaining the Exeter Northcott Theatre.

GREEN MATINEES: Support the environment and use public transport to attend these discounted midweek matinees.

CONCESSIONS: Where concessions are advertised, discounted prices are available on price bands B, C & D for benefit recipients, registered disabled, patrons aged 60+, students and under 26s, unless otherwise stated on the event page. Only one concession applies unless otherwise stated.

Exeter Northcott Theatre has 6 wheelchair spaces on Row G. The Great Hall has 12 wheelchair spaces on the central aisle, Rows G – M. Accessible toilets: Exeter Northcott Theatre has level access from Row G; The Great Hall has an accessible toilet on the 2nd Floor.

There are 3 parking spaces for blue badge holders on The Queen’s Drive, 10 spaces in Car Park C and 5 spaces at Northcote House (see Parking Map overleaf).

Exeter Northcott Theatre has an enhanced hearing system that improves the experience for hearing-impaired theatregoers by transmitting enhanced audio to visitor’s hearing aids, or specially provided headphones. Equipment for both must be collected from the steward’s counter prior to the show.

Working dogs welcome.

Assisted Performances: wherever possible we endeavour to provide BSL interpreted, audio described, captioned or relaxed performances – look out for these symbols on the event pages.

STUDENT STANDBYS: Standbys must be bought in person and are available to students in full time education, are subject to availability, and must be purchased on the day of the performance up to one hour before the advertised performance start time.

SCHOOLS, COLLEGES & YOUTH GROUPS: Reduced price tickets available as shown. One teacher FREE with every 10 students.

GETTING HERE IS EASY Situated at the heart of the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus, the Exeter Northcott Theatre and The Great Hall are easier to get to than you might think, with good bus and train links and plenty of FREE evening and weekend parking a short distance from the theatre.
