So, it’s not just me in the photo. The Exeter Northcott now has an Associates Programme. Bright young companies, committed to the South West, who we’re supporting and helping to flourish in the midscale. We are investing in the future and you will have the pleasure of seeing these talented companies and their work first. Exeter Northcott is one of a select group of midscale theatres – places where directors, designers, actors, writers of note in every generation – current, past and future – cut their teeth. Two of the associates are in the programme this autumn. Metta Theatre open it with their version of Rob Biddulph’s BLOWN AWAY. Le Navet Bête will be performing with us for the first time in DICK TRACY and they’ll be opening a new show with us in Spring 2017, and Paddle Boat Theatre Company have begun working on our first Outreach project. Or as we put it – Reach Out. Watch out for more news. Our model embraces production – this is our dynamo, our heart. We are all excited by the prospect of PETER PAN. It is a play I’ve always wanted to direct and we can’t wait to get into rehearsals. It’s also great to be offering so many opportunities to young people in our community. We will continue to programme the best and widest range of quality work at the Northcott. This season we are delighted to welcome Complicite on their first visit to Exeter. Two of the best shows I’ve ever seen were by this company and set a benchmark for groundbreaking, innovative theatre. Jimmy Osmond began his performing career at the tender age of three with Andy Williams on his television series. This year marks Jimmy’s fiftieth anniversary in show business. Jimmy will sing the songs that made Andy Williams so beloved by millions including Music To Watch Girls By, Happy Heart, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Almost There, May Each Day, Days Of Wine And Roses, and, of course, the song that was to become his theme tune, Moon River.

Mon 17 October 7.30pm Told by the Wind is a performance of movement and text that ‘dances’ an inner landscape and invites the audience to enter an imaginative space of possibilities. Critics have described the performance as ‘hypnotic’, ‘contemplative’, ‘mesmerizing,’ and ‘hauntingly poetic’. Told by the Wind previewed at the Evora, Portugal festival, premiered in the UK, and has toured internationally, and most recently to Tokyo. The show was co-created by an interdisciplinary team of artists working internationally including award-winning playwright/dramaturg Kaite O’Reilly (Ted Hughes Award for New Works of Poetry for Persians with National Theatre Wales), performer Phillip Zarrilli, (Artistic Director/Llanarth Group) and dancer/choreographer/ performance-maker Jo Shapland.

The artists are all associated with the the University of Exeter’s Drama Department: Phillip Zarrilli is Emeritus Professor of Performance Practice; Kaite O’Reilly was an AHRC Creative Fellow and is now Honorary Fellow; Jo Shapland received her MFA degree in Performance Practice.

Mon 7 & Tue 8 November 7.30pm Aerial circus company Ockham’s Razor presents its new full length show, Tipping Point. Set in the round, the action veers from catastrophe to mastery as five performers transform simple five-metre metal poles into a rich landscape of images. Poles are balanced on fingertips, hung from the roof, lashed, climbed, swung from and walked along, they become forests, cross-roads and pendulums. The performers must decide whether to rail against the chaos, struggling to exert order on a disordered world, or ride it out, allowing life to tilt towards the tipping point.

EDUCATION & OUTREACH

Our education programme is 10 months old, and in this time we have worked with 956 pupils and students from 21 schools and colleges... From Gangsta Granny Drama and Art workshops in the primaries to Exeter College International Baccalaureate students, we’ve had a fantastic time since last September building partnerships with schools, colleges, teachers and pupils. We’ve seen St Martin’s Primary Cranbrook dancing in the aisles, Nick Moran rehearsing with BTeC Performing Arts students at Exeter College, the Mark Bruce Company working with A Level Dance classes and Northern Ballet dancing with pre-school children. We’ve also been working in partnership with WESC Foundation – The Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment, on a six week drama project which involved learners performing their own piece of theatre to the whole school and college. We pass on our thanks to all the artists, performers, teachers, and most of all the young people, for their enthusiasm and congratulate them on their achievements.

METTA THEATRE COMPANY Following our sold out week of Metta Theatre’s Jungle Book, we are delighted that Metta have chosen to develop their next exciting project, Wind in the Willows, in Exeter this summer. “After the smash hit success of our Jungle Book earlier this year, Exeter Northcott Theatre was our first choice to begin developing our extraordinary new hip-hop musical of Wind In The Willows. The Exeter Northcott Theatre Box Office, Stocker Road, Exeter EX4 4QB is open for in person, telephone and email bookings Mon – Sat 10am to 6pm* and 1 hour before the performance on Sundays.

*In the evenings, the Box Office is open for half an hour after curtain up. Tickets are also available from Exeter Visitor’s Information & Tickets: Dix’s Field, Exeter EX1 1GF, open Mon – Sat 9am to 5pm. All ticket prices shown include a £1.50 CORE FUND Fee which goes towards the cost of operating and maintaining the Exeter Northcott Theatre. GREEN MATINEES: Support the environment and use public transport to attend these discounted midweek matinees. CONCESSIONS: Where concessions are advertised, discounted prices are available on price bands B, C & D for benefit recipients, registered disabled, patrons aged 60+, students and under 26s, unless otherwise stated on the event page. Only one concession applies unless otherwise stated. STUDENT STANDBYS: Standbys must be bought in person and are available to students in full time education, are subject to availability, and must be purchased on the day of the performance up to one hour before the advertised performance start time.

Exeter Northcott Theatre has 6 wheelchair spaces on Row G. The Great Hall has 12 wheelchair spaces on the central aisle, Rows G – M. Accessible toilets: Exeter Northcott Theatre has level access from Row G; The Great Hall has an accessible toilet on the 2nd Floor. There are 3 parking spaces for blue badge holders on The Queen’s Drive, 10 spaces in Car Park C and 5 spaces at Northcote House (see Parking Map overleaf). Exeter Northcott Theatre has an enhanced hearing system that improves the experience for hearing-impaired theatregoers by transmitting enhanced audio to visitor’s hearing aids, or specially provided headphones. Equipment for both must be collected from the steward’s counter prior to the show. Working dogs welcome. Accessible Performances: wherever possible we endeavour to provide BSL interpreted, audio described, captioned or relaxed performances – look out for these symbols on the event pages.

GETTING HERE IS EASY Situated at the heart of the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus, the Exeter Northcott Theatre is easier to get to than you might think, with good public transport links and plenty of FREE parking a short distance from the theatre. N

Getting home by bus The D bus leaves the bus stop opposite the front entrance of the theatre on North Park Road at 21mins and 51mins past the hour after 6pm and continues until 11.51pm (Mon - Sat) and 11.10pm (Sundays) to the city centre, ready for you to connect to other city centre late night services. Getting here by train From Exeter St Davids Station, take the 1km walk up the hill to the University Campus. Getting here by bus The D and H buses run from Exeter City Centre direct to our theatre 7 days a week including Bank Holidays. However we recommend you catch the D bus if you are travelling from the city centre as the route is more direct. The last D services from the city centre to Exeter Northcott for evening shows Monday to Saturday are at 6.30pm (for 7pm shows), 7pm (for 7.30pm shows) and 7.30pm (for 8pm shows). Sunday D services start at 9am, then 9.30am and then at 55 and 25mins past the hour until 11.10pm. Getting here on foot or by bike We’d like to encourage those who are able to walk or cycle to the Theatre to do so whenever they can. There are several cycle paths and lanes in and around the Theatre and university campus to ensure the safety of cyclists and there is a cycle shelter to the left of the theatre’s front entrance. Getting here by car All car parking is FREE on campus after 6pm Mon - Fri, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays, regardless of permit restrictions on signage. All restrictions on parking are lifted for visitors during these times, but please be aware that car parks are pay and display at all other times. Vehicle Routes and Parking The nearest car parks to the theatre are Car Parks C & D, located only a few minutes walk away, and Theatre patrons may park from 5pm if displaying a voucher which the Box Office will issue with your tickets on request. Car Park C, is located next to the INTO Academic Centre at the top of Stocker Road. Entrance to the car park is on North Park Road, opposite the bus stop. Car Park D is located at the end of North Park Road and is just a five minute walk from the theatre. This is a permit holder only car park Mon – Fri until 6pm, please check with the box office if attending a weekday daytime performance. /ExeterNorthcottTheatre

Stocker Road is open to pedestrians and cyclists only. Vehicles should enter the campus from Prince of Wales Road via Streatham Drive and then The Queen’s Drive, before joining North Park Road and then Rennes Drive (please see map below). The biggest demand for parking at Streatham Campus is expected to be between 9am and 6pm from Monday to Friday during the University term. For this reason we now only schedule the following daytime shows: Green Matinees – please show your support for the environment and use Public Transport to

attend these discounted midweek matinee shows; School Matinees – we advise groups to travel to the theatre by coach for these performances. This map will help you find the car parks.
