Magical Christmas stays at South Lodge

You’ll find a very warm welcome when you arrive, with a cosy glass of spiced mulled wine and fresh mince pies to accompany the roaring wood fire in reception. The perfect place for families; little ones are never forgotten and will also have delicious home-made mini gingerbread cookies and a personalised hidey-hole in reception, with small surprises, games and puzzles... don’t forget to keep checking it during your stay as you never know what might appear!

Along with all the beautiful hotel decorations, your room is made to feel a truly special space of your own. You’ll discover your very own Christmas tree, as well as a little gift waiting for your arrival.

A Christmas stay is not complete without delicious dining. Forget the long hours in the kitchen cooking and cleaning, as our awardwinning teams work away behind the scenes to create you a delectable array of dishes.

What’s more, to fill you with fun and Christmas spirit, there will be a Christmas cabaret performing before you take your seats in Camellia or Botanica on Christmas Eve, or if you’re looking for more of an intimate setting, you can indulge in a seven-course tasting menu and wine flight at The Pass.

During your downtime, we have some fantastic experiences on offer to you. Alongside beautiful wintery walks around our grounds, there will be a family cinema room to enjoy and country pursuits for those staying for three nights. If you fancy playing some games, the family games room welcomes children and adults of all ages to enjoy. With board games and puzzles, table tennis, a PS4 console and drawing materials to let your artistic side out, there’s plenty for all the family to do.

The spa will also be open every day throughout your stay with allocated splash times in our pools for children, as well as plenty of time for adults to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet, and some much needed R&R. Perhaps indulging in a treatment or glamming it up before dinner with a manicure and a pedicure will be on your wish list?

Complete with a visit from Father Christmas himself, Christmas at South Lodge is a really special experience to share with your loved ones, aiming to warm your hearts and fill you with memories that will last a lifetime.

This Christmas, switch off from the everyday and leave the planning, cooking and washing‑up to us. All that’s left to do is settle in, relax and soak up the season.

Arrive from midday to a warming glass of spiced mulled wine and mince pies, or some of our home made mini gingerbread cookies for the kids.

Before heading to your room; where you’ll discover your very own Christmas tree; take a peek inside your personalised hidey hole for small surprises, games and puzzles. Remember… keep checking throughout your stay as you never know what delights might suddenly appear there!

5.45pm

You are officially invited to join our General Manager and his team for a sparkling drinks reception to welcome you to South Lodge, whilst a west end group perform a sparkling and swinging Christmas cabaret.

From 7pm

Take your seat for a three-course welcome dinner in Camellia or Mediterranean influenced Botanica. Or experience a Michelin star seven-course tasting menu with premium wine pairing in The Pass*.

Don’t forget to stop by reception with your little ones before their bedtime, to collect some carrots for the reindeer and mince pies and milk ready for Santa’s arrival.

11pm

For those who wish to attend midnight mass, we would be happy to recommend local churches and help with arranging transport. We’ll welcome you back to the hotel with hot toddies and mince pies, before you tiptoe off to bed.

Start your Christmas Day with breakfast in Camellia, or brunch in Botanica for those late risers.

After there’s plenty of time for you to relax with the whole family before the main event begins!

Ease into the morning your way. Opt for a full English breakfast in Camellia, or wander over to Botanica for a more laid-back Mediterranean-style brunch, served until 11.30am.

From 12.30pm

For those joining us for three nights, follow the irresistible aroma of Christmas lunch to Camellia, where a traditional five-course feast awaits, perfectly accompanied by the charming sounds of a pianist.

Joining us for two nights? You’re in for a treat too. A luxury carvery with all the trimmings will be served in the South Downs Suite, with a roving trio bringing the festive atmosphere to life. We’ll get the celebrations started with a glass of bubbly on arrival, then let our Sommelier work their magic with a perfectly matched half bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal.

Once tummies are full, the afternoon is yours to enjoy. Step outside for some fresh winter air, settle in for a film at our in-house cinema, or curl up on the sofa with a cup of hot chocolate to watch the King’s Speech at 3pm.

6.30pm

As evening rolls in, it’s time to relax. Gather around a board game (friendly competition encouraged), and help yourself to a mouth-watering buffet filled with cold cuts, comforting soups and plenty of delicious treats worth a second helping. Naturally, your meal comes with a half bottle of wine, thoughtfully chosen by our Sommelier. Cheers to a cosy night in.

Boxing Day

Saturday 26th December 2026

After breakfast or brunch start your morning off with a stroll around the grounds, a treatment in the spa, or maybe you would prefer to test your skills with some country pursuits.*

If you’re leaving us today we kindly ask you to vacate your room by 11am, but no need to rush off as you can still enjoy some quiet time in the spa until 2pm.

From 8am

Start the day with breakfast in Camellia, or spend some extra time in bed and head to Botanica for a leisurely brunch, served until 11.30am.

Morning

For those on the three night package, step outside and embrace the fresh air with archery and laser clays*. Prefer to to stay cosy indoors? Our kokedama workshop* might be just the thing. This beautiful Japanese art form invites you to get hands-on (yes, a little messy!) and create your own plant masterpiece to take home.

You can also pop into our family cinema room, sit back, relax and enjoy one of the films showing.

And of course, the spa awaits. Open from 8am to 6pm, it’s the perfect place to unwind - or why not treat yourself to a little extra indulgence with a treatment?

Head to Camellia for a delicious three-course lunch, perfectly paired with wine.

Feeling festive? Our talented Pastry Team will guide you through the art of chocolate-making in a handson workshop*. Step into the magic of Christmas as you create your own chocolate truffles and learn decorative techniques worthy of a chocolatier.

Our Sommelier invites you to a hosted wine tasting*. A wonderful warm-up before the evening entertainment.

From 7pm

End the day with a relaxed Mediterranean-style dinner in Botanica. Expect small plates, sharing dishes and beautiful mains, all accompanied by live music to set the mood for a memorable evening.
