TRIBUTES have been paid to the celebrated philanthropist Sir Jack Petchey, who has passed away at the age of 98

Sir Jack (pictured right) was an early supporter of the school and a passionate believer in the transformative power of education. Born in Plaistow, the businessman set up the Jack Petchey Foundation to help children across London and Essex fulfil their potential. Headteacher Mr Deria said: “On behalf of The Excelsior Academy, formerly The Petchey Academy, I would like to send our deepest condolences to Sir Jack’s family and The Jack Petchey Foundation during this difficult time. Sir Jack’s memory will always be cherished and the school will forever be grateful to him.

GLITCH DAY WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING...?

GlitchCompetitionCelebrations-Friday21June

Students entered a short story writing competition in the Autumn term and the winners had the opportunity to have their stories published in an inspirational anthology called ‘The Glitch’ which was released in the Summer term. A celebration was organised for our student authors whose stories have been published in the anthology. At this event, students had the opportunity to view their story in print and discuss their writing with their peers and teachers. The students who attended had a marvellous time sharing their stories and talking about the inspiration for their writing aswellasenjoyingdeliciousrefreshments
