Magnet Minute Week of 6/27/22 Structural Empowerment Recognizing Excellence
Turning Nothing Into Something… Over 72,857 doses of COVID vaccine were administered through Excela Health vaccine clinics beginning December 17, 2020. Shortly after the initial vaccines were completed it became clear that a larger space and streamlined resources would be essential to meet future demands. A building at Excela Square Norwin that once housed Galaxy Fitness, was transformed, nearly overnight, into the Excela Health COVID Vaccine Center. Denise Addis, MSN, RN, CPHQ, VP, Cardiovascular Service Line praised the team of individuals representing various departments across the system, stating, “months/years of hard work, flexibility and professionalism – many times in less-than-ideal circumstances”, were the keys to success. “We made something from nothing, and it was a result of (the team’s) creativity, commitment and a can-do attitude.” “No matter how crazy the request, (this team) handled it with grace and patience!” --Liz DiLembo, Clinical Documentation Specialist, Quality On June 16, 2022, the last shot was administered at the center. The amount of hard work required to meet each logistical challenge related to signage, website updates, vaccine registry, call center support, daily operations, IT support, pharmacy, cleaning and security, documentation and billing as well as to coax “shot givers” into service and often out of retirement was extraordinary. “An adventure for sure, but a WONDERFUL and great experience that we will all remember. Teamwork at it’s finest.” --Lisa L. Maginsky, BSN, RN, Director, Clinical Applications, Information Technology
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED MAKE THIS PROJECT A SUCCESS!
