Carolyn Loucks, Exercise/Wellness Specialist from Excela Health Well-Being Center, discusses how your 2019 New Year resolutions should incorporate more exercise into your weekly routine. Loucks explains that exercise helps to control weight, combat health conditions and diseases, and decreases unhealthy triglycerides. It also helps to prevent stroke, diabetes, metabolic syndrome and arthritis while also improving mood, boosting energy and promoting better sleep. The recommendation for moderate physical activity is 30 minutes per day, five to seven days a week. For vigorous physical activity, exercise is recommended 20 minutes per day, three to five days a week. Before starting your 2019 exercise routine, talk with your doctor for advice and feedback. To find out how you can establish a routine, keep on track with your routine, and how to set realistic goals, check out the Well-Being Center under Employee Wellness on the Intranet.
